I'm tired of Bennett

Tired, not because he's not conservative enough (which he isn't), but because he's not effective. He says he's always on the right side of issues, but he doesn't seem to have any clout, not when it comes to effecting meaningful conservative policy.

Doesn't get my vote again. I'm gunning for state delegate, and opting for the best alternative. There's still time for one to develop.

The response of the Bennett camp is telling in that they talk of throwing a huge amount of money into the campaign but say nothing about getting out and talking to ordinary citizens and finding out why so many are disaffected with his representation (or lack of). Bennett is so out of touch with voters on everyday issues that affect us all. I think most of Congress is too.

We all need to shake off our complacency and get involved by educating ourselves and paying attention to what is going on in government at all levels. Let's elect the right people and then consistently hold their feet to the fire to remind them who they're supposed to represent.

I really don't care for Bennett, not moderate enough for me. I am afraid of losing a him to another right wing extremist though and I am not willing to throw my vote away for that option.

Cannon was terrible, but I feel that Chaffetz is far worse right now for the state of Utah.

Moniker2

I wish Utah could plan a new Hatch or Hatch a new plan. As far as I'm concerned, there aren't any real Republicans or Democrats. There's just a bunch of Kleptocrats who have gotten rich, fat, and entrenched while young people with few options are hired to go out and die to maintain the interests of the lobbyists.

It should be two terms and then, as a senator or representative you're out. A lifetime in the Senate didn't do much for Rome, and it's similarly corrupted our system.

vote for Eagar

I like Cherilyn Eagar. She has been behind the scenes getting things done for 30 years.

I haven't been as impressed with Bennett this last term. I think he should be thanked and brought back home. This shouldn't be a career.

Too bad the survey wasn't for state GOP delegates.
Not likely voters.

Not Republican primary voters.

Not likely state delegates.

If Bennett can't make 40% at convention, he is toast anyway.

This shows the largest number don't want him, want someone, but are open and haven't decided.

Been back there too long?

In March of this year Senator Bob Bennett was rated one of the ten most liberal Republicans in the Senate by Human Events based on the American Conservative Union Ratings for 2008. Why Bennett would pay money to convince voters he is Conservative is beyond me.

Bennett's health care bill?

I am glad Bennett's healthcare seems to be dead, but am not sure he has helped solve the problems we have.

Bennett's bill has an abortion provision.
There is an exception for companies such as DMBA, but the rest of the insurance companies are out of luck.

Bennett's bill, S.391 Healthy Americans Act:

(3) COVERAGE FOR FAMILY PLANNING-

(A) IN GENERAL- Except as provided in subparagraph (B), a health insurance issuer shall make available supplemental coverage for abortion services that may be purchased in conjunction with enrollment in a HAPI plan or an actuarially equivalent healthy American plan.

(B) RELIGIOUS AND MORAL EXCEPTION- Nothing in this paragraph shall be construed to require a health insurance issuer affiliated with a religious institution to provide the coverage described in subparagraph (A).

If the Convention were held

If the Convention were held today,

If no one gets 60% first round, the top 3 move on, the others are gone.

Providing Lee gets in the race:
Eagar, Lee and Lampropoulos make it to round 2.

Who are Williams and Bennett going to endorse?

Resume of getting things done

Having read Cherilyn Eagar's resume, she has more doing experience than the other challengers.

Bennett needs to retire. For some reason Utah men in their seventies and eighties wield a lot of influence. It seems reflective of the religion.

Vote for Sam

I am!

OUT

Time for him to go. PAST time for him to go.

What's the alternative

The only problem with Bennett is that he explicitly stated in 92 when he originally ran for office that he would only serve two terms. He obviously broke that promise with his third term and is now seeking a 4th. If elected he will be in his 80's before his term expires. I think its time for new blood--Hatch included.

On the other hand, show me an alternative candidate that is more qualified. Bennett has in all actuality done a great job. Despite my despise for his failure to stick to his promise I would rather vote for him again then yield the seat to any of the current opponents. What is their message? Everything I read so far simply states vote for us we are more conservative? Bah hum bug, provide some concrete examples of why we should vote for you vs. Bennett. Bennett has actually provided stout Senate leadership throughout his tenure in regards to fiscal policy. In today's economy we need someone who understands finance and Bennett is the most qualified of the candidates.

Get him out of there

He has been so worthless its pathetic, and yet we haven’t gotten anyone to run who is worth replacing him. We aren’t doing well with a lot of the politicians running for office.

Change

This country has hit an all time low in leadership and representation of the people. The careers of most of those in government have taken this country to lowest level for the past 40 years. The only way to change directions is to change the leaders.

No one cares about experience in the art of compromise america to add more wealth to the already wealthy. Personally, compromise should be stricken from governments responsibility to the citizens of america. We have compromised ourselves in to debt, no industry, and no jobs, and an economy that has no where to go but down further.

We have compromised ourselves out of a country and borders and in to wars to feed the rich on Wall Street with more wealth.

We have to start change at the top starting with representatives and the president.

Larry

You People have constantly re elected a incumbant, 30 years goes by and he has done noothing but taken up space.
Look at Sen. Hatch, He writes songs and does photo opps when he can. Dead Beat Republican, No time for you.

Pro Bemnett

I will vote for him.

More than tired

Mr. Bennett told me personally, to my face when running for his first term "I am a one term senator!". He simply didn't tell me the truth. How can we have someone in office that is willing to say what they have to, to be elected, then do something opposite? He won't respond when asked questions by the people of Utah. The only communication we get from him or his office is an election year. If you post anything remotely negative on his Facebook page you are banned. He simply needs to be voted out of office.

Eagar fan

Cherilyn Eagar is the real deal and the best challenger to Bennett. I have heard her speak many times, asked her questions, and always found her to be a woman of wisdom and integrity. I admire her gutsiness in declaring her candidacy early on, while other potential republican candidates are playing a cat and mouse game with the public. Cherilyn has been out there taking the heat and building her campaign while the undeclared are avoiding scrutiny because they won't officially sign on to the race. This indicates the kind of courage and forthrightness she will show in Congress.

For years, when you called Bennett's office, the answers were always noncommittal and staffers were not forthcoming with information. Now that the election is upon us, his staffers are finally giving information and actually being helpful. Too little too late.

it fits

males, mormonism, and bennett.

a winner!!!! I put my money on bennett: he fits the society he comes from. like a glove, and he knows it.

yes sir!!!
