The logic is a little fuzzy. Who works at these Big Box Stores. It's you and me! The pay I get goes to my local landlord, the local repair shop, and ,dare I say, the local small shops.
Me and the Mrs. was thinkin' about comin' down to SLC to do a little Christmas shoppin'.
Thanks for the article.
I've convinced her we can stay home and do our shoppin' right here in Wyoming.
Mayor Becker's advice is well taken. All those people in Provo and rural areas need to shop locally rather than going to Salt Lake to spend their money. Becker realizes how important it is for Salt Lake residents to shop at home, and I appreciate him giving the same advice to people in the rest of the state.
Buy where you get the best price for the quality and service. It keeps everybody honest, competitive and vital for the long-term. Politicians want us to buy where they make the most money off from our taxes. They would love to be able to tax outsiders only....note the extra taxes on hotel rooms, fast food, and car rentals. In the end we all pay more because we are all outsiders somewhere.
After Prop 8 I encourage people to stay out of Utah entirely.
You can call me a hater if you wish. Keep in mind, I took no issue with Utah before Prop 8.
Me 'n ma pack a rough ridas was wan'n to come tie up r steeds at the local hitchin post to support some local trading posts. Now, r you tellin' me i ain't supportin' the local economy if I buy in Burley, ID?
Support your local businesses!
It would be so great if those people that didn't support Prop 8 would stay out of Utah. Thanks for the awesome suggestion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rest of us normal people would be in a state of euphoria!! No haters to hate people who just want to live a normal life. Thanks Pagan. Thank you sooo much for the comment
Yes, there are so many shopping choices in Burley, ID. You will end up in Twin Falls or Boise.
Give me a break.

Does that mean more protections pass due to people just like you?
And we should support your buisness because you want to discriminate against people who don't view the world as you do?
Thanks.
You make the perfect case for more anti-discrimination laws.
Shopping local is a good idea but the mega stores play hardball and undercut these independent shops to force them out of business. Small shops are at a major disadvantage because the bigger monopolies are allowed to undercut them.
If the state leaders were really for small business they would do something about monopoly rule and illegal labor and illegal shops.
How I choose my stores is by the employees, if illegals are working there I leave the store and shop elsewhere. Of course, every thing I buy now I look for the made in america tag or label and even ask for made in america products. Why support foreign countries and foreign workers when we americans need jobs?
Working illegals depress the economy and tax base of government by stealing money from us. Employed illegals don't pay any income taxes because they don't exist. Neither do their employers. None of their earnings and spending is taxed and every one of them are subsidized by working americans who pay their taxes. With this state subsidizeing all illegalsthey get tax free spending, even on food, rent, and everything most american have to pay for.
Paganlover, your comments are simply sad - that you think everyone in Utah should think and believe as you do.
