fantastic story! thanks for the RSL coverage, d-news.

A far as...

I'm concerned, they are still an inconsistent team. They just got hot at the right time after five things went their way during the final week and they were moved into the other conference for the playoffs.

I second the motion. Thank you for covering the team and giving RSL the respect a professional team deserves.

As the article showed, it was a difficult season, but all's well that ends well. We were the best team in the end and a knockout system allows for such success from a team. Parity has been the word of the hour and RSL came together at the right time. Thank you for the article. It was a year to remember.

RSL was consistant all year, until the playoffs. They were great at home and awful on the road. If it wren't for the PKs RSL would have been 2-0-2 (8 pts) during the playoffs. Hopefully the playoffs gave them confidence to play better on the road. I can't wait until spring training starts! GO RSL!

One of the things that went their way the final week of the season was that they stepped up when it mattered and played a great game, winning 3-0.
Yeah, there were some miracles that happened (a penalty against DC in the 90th minute) but RSL won their game when everybody else lost.
They didn't back in to the playoffs. They earned it.

I loved reading this. I remember every game mentioned here and it is great to be able to look back and see how the journey unfolded. I never once gave up hope but it did get scary at times. When can I get my jersey with the trophy on it?!

Sure, RSL would have been 2-0-2 in the playoffs with ties, but that would have represented 5 points out of 3 road games -- which is a fantastic road record.

So let me get this straight. A team with a losing regular season record wins the championship? This from a sport where the games can, and frequently do, end in a scoreless tie? Boring.

Re: Mud

Yep. It sure can. Same as with basketball, football, and plenty of other sports I'm sure you wouldn't consider boring,

What a fun season. Infuriating at times, but overall a wonderful ride.
