Couldn't have been a better way for Max to end his college career. I'm glad he has this one under his belt. Amazing how one OT touchdown pass can wipe out last years 5 int's.
his post-game comments. He needs to be a bigger person given the gifts and opportunities he has been given. Sure some of the Ute players and fans are poor sports, but most are not! Just like BYU fans, the quiet majority have a lot of class!
Max was too honest and just earned himself some 100,000+ enemies for life...is that what he wanted? I recommend an apology.
ok UTAH...here let me say it for you...JUST WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR, We will kill you guys...DUH...its going to be a long wait...See you NEXT YEAR.
Best team in Utah is like Grammy for Best New Artist.
When I heard Hall make those comments after the game, I wondered, where was that attitude earlier? Max Hall's worth went way up in my appreciation as a Cougar fan! Way to be Max! But most importantly, way to NOT turn it over and make the play to win!
post-game comments. It was a good hard fought game. Utah continues to surprise me after being out of the state for 15 years, they have a strong program compared to the 80's. Max should be a bigger person given the gifts and opportunities he has been given. Sure some of the Ute players and fans are poor sports, but most are not! Just like BYU fans, the quiet majority have a lot of class!

Wow, Max just had to tarnish something good. Oh wait, maybe we should wait for Bronco to tell us how we are supposed to think... Oddly leadership around there has that type of control.
Anywho, that was a great game, too bad the classless final comments from Max took away from it.
Some things you might believe, but you keep them to your self Max. These attitudes might have something to do with BYU's inconsistency's this year. I had to sit through that Florida State debacle. I thought that I was at General Conferance without a tie!
start the whinningh uties.
It was the ref's fault nfor throwing all the flags.
It was a fumble, he wasn't down.
What me. I wasn't showing unsportsman like conduct.
George is still open. enough said
Hey Brad Rock..
No need to note that Bradford was only played one half of the big upset game to start 2009. You are trying too hard to align yourself with the rest of the biased national media. We fans watched a struggling Bradford scramble throughout the first half of that game. We also watched a tenacious and hard hitting defense rough him up prior to his game ending injury.
Local fans are too smart.
Please allow me to translate what Max really meant:
I really don't like the University of Utah.
Although they are a great and respected institution of higher learning, I really don't like some of their less-than-classy fans-who, of course, are a very small minority of the total fan base.
I have great respect for most of their players, but am really glad we won tonight-because we really outplayed them.
Check AP/UPI/Reuters wires for official press release due out early Sunday a.m.
that was well written and should serve as press release and translation by cooler heads the day after. Thanks
Max Hall just proved himself to be a man with no class (no surprise), First of all you don't bag on anyones program! Makes himself, and BYU look bad, what an idiot! What a poor example for young kids and sportsmanship! You don't have to love your opponent but you need to respect them. Utah killed BYU last year and did you hear anyone bag on BYU? No because Utah has Class!
What has Utah done to expect anything else from Max. Good for him they earned every word he said. There is no place on earth with less class than rice stadium when BYU plays the utes.
You can't beat the officials. They gave BYU the game in the 3rd quarter. They made it way too obvious, espically with Chalmers acting and BYU player ripping helmets off (no face mask?). The fix was on; what a Joke! BYU will get POUNDED in their bowl game; watch and see; the fix won't be on!
Does the Deseret news only post the comments they approve of?
But the U of U leadership doesn't have a good track record of discouraging abusive behavior from Ute fans. Hall has a legitimate complaint that has festered and should have been dealt with last December. As a professor at the U of U and a graduate of BYU, I suggest that the Utes use the opportunity for some introspection rather than retribution against Hall or BYU. I recall games with the BYU student section flinging tortillas on Ute cheerleaders, which is sophomoric, but it was Ute fans who threw ice balls in past games onto BYU players, which is abusive. If you can't move on after this and find peace in life based on who you are, but instead draw your personal value from the play of some college students--most of whom you will never meet, I can recommend some psychiatrists to help you.
Although Max Hall's comments were likely too strong, there's truth to what he says. I attended last year's game at Rice Eccles Stadium and had fans intentionally shoving into me, middle fingers raised at me most of the game, and obscentities yelled in the direction of myself and my father. Perhaps the greatest irony is that, yes, I'm a BYU grad and season ticket holder, but I'm also a University of Utah faculty member (School of Medicine, tenure track assistant professor). I was ashamed to be associated with those fans.
In contrast, a Utah fan sat behind us today in the middle of the BYU season ticket holder section. I didn't see one middle finger raised, one obscenity shouted, despite his vocal support of his team. People can say what they will about actions on both sides, but what I have witnssed toward opposing fans at Utah and at BYU represent a stark difference. I wish I had more sway at the U to change the tenor. I had actually contacted President Young after my experience last year, but was disappointed not to have received the courtesy of a response.
I don't see why Max has to go and be classless and take shots at utah after he had just won a close game, two years ago i was at the byu utah game and as the utah team was taking the field byu fans were right by where they come out dumping their waters and sodas on the players. Yeah your family might have gotten drinks thrown at them, but the byu fans do the same. I'm sure plenty of utah players hate byu like Max hates utah, but i also think whittingham does a better job of creating more classy players.
Yeah, what Max said....I agree with every word. By the way Utah's BCS year last year was great but by the numbers this senior class at BYU has beaten the Utes 3 out of 4 times. THanks for the memories Utah.
