Comments about ‘BYU, Utah Utes football: Too many field goals, penalties doomed Utes’

Fun game.

I'd like to thank the Utes for an entertaining game and for losing for the third time in four years. Thank you.

Kudos to the Utes. As an outsider to the state who does not belong to the predominant faith here I have to say that while Utah lost it definitely showed class and character in the loss. Hall from BYU showed the hypocrisy that has made the school the most hated.

Great football game. Too bad it had to be marred by the ugly comments. Maybe I don't get why he hates those not of BYU so much. It seems his hatred is personal, weird and not too common in college sports, even in the storied SEC. Oh well-Go max!

As a cougar fan what was Max Hall thinking in his press conference? It was a very evenly matched contest. Hall's game wasn't exactly impressive. In fact, for a senior who is BYU's all-time leader it was disappointing and will add to his diminished legacy.

I love the cougars. But do support the U when they are not playing BYU. Utah is a great school, has great fans, and a great team and coach.

Whatever Max Hall did during the game to promote his legacy, what he did after the game completely destroyed it.

I almost fell asleep during the video reviews. Maybe next year you can learn how to speed things up?

fun game. BYU was one play better this year in a flawed game by both sides, so congrats to them (well, at least to the ones with a little class and graciousness).

I can understand Max Hall's statement. In fact I have season tickets to LES, I don't attend this game ever. I have always felt respected by other opposing team fans, however when it comes to this rivalry. It is ugly. While I don't think that the entire school is "classless" or all its fans. There is an ugliness that many fans need to re-examine the way they behave on both sides of the aisle. Great game.

Who teaches Utah to punch so much? I thought I was watch Lambert from New Mexico play out there.

Thanks refs for calling at least 6 unsportsmanlike calls. You would have thought Utah would learn after the first few.

sorry to hear Max's post-game comments. He needs to be a bigger person given the gifts and opportunities he has been given. Sure some of the Ute players and fans are poor sports, but most are not! Just like BYU fans, the quiet majority have a lot of class!

Max was too honest and just earned himself some 100,000+ enemies for life...is that what he wanted? I recommend an apology.

This loss really must rankle. First, they lost when they thought they would win.

Second, they lost when Max Hall beat them on the final play.

Third, Max had the audacity to tell the truth about the Utah program. That really gave them the vapors.

Congratulations to Coach Mendenhall. I think this is his kind of win.

Bronco knows the limitations of his players and feels that if he can limit turnovers and bend but not break on defense that he can end up with a tight win. His record shows that he is very often right. Even last years Utah game was there for the taking if only coach Anae would have made mid game adjustments from the game plan ( a new concept for BYU) and run the ball instead of force Hall to throw it. The turnovers doomed Bronco's philosophy.

Still, Bronco is developing as a coach.

I hope he will continue to be more willing to recruit solid players outside of the church including JC DBs that BYU so desperately needs. Also, his big game preparation needs help.

For now, congratulations to BYU. It is your kind of win.

i think it is fair to say that there was some questionable officiating...like the disconcerning the snapcount call...what does that even mean? all well we will smash byu next yeat GO UTAH!!

Max Hall's comments are completely unacceptable. I am a BYU fan and what he said runs contrary to the mission of the school, the integrity its coach has tried to instill, and misrepresents a terrific institution that is a credit to this state. I won't hear the "it was said in the heat of the moment" argument or the "it was a year of frustration finally coming out" excuse. He needs to do some soul searching and understand that the game he just won is meaningless at the end of the day, but the hate that he feels can destroy his soul. I truly hope he, and fans on both sides of this game, have learned from those ugly comments.
