Comments about ‘Utah Utes, BYU football: Hall comes up big when it counts’

Thanks Max for making your team, your university, your faith, and your family proud. True role models and examples of sportsmanship and class are so hard to find, so thank you for winning with such grace. You certainly deserve what you've earned for yourself.

You guys did an awesome job the whole night and have nothing to be ashamed of. BYU made one great play at the end but the Ute D was phenomenal all night in making hall miss the majority of his pass attempts.

unjustified garbage. Most of the time when he has a bad game it is because the BYU receivers are bumped, held or interfered with, which throws the timing of the play off.

In the past he has forced the ball into coverage in spite of the BYU receivers not being able to break free. Tonight he was conservative, but he threw NO interceptions.

The BYU coaches need more pass plays that are not based on timing. BYU gets beat by teams (TCU, FSU) that disrupt the timing of the routes. Hall gets blamed for it.

Please put a dozen or so pass plays in for the bowl game that are not timing based.

If you get the right defensive players next season you might get to the BCS.

Class? Hall? After his melt down in the post game interview? Not hardly. What an embarrassment for Max Hall, his team, and the university and church he is supposed to represent. I will be ashamed to meet my fellow Saints who root for the UofU tomorrow at church. Max will certainly supplant Lenny Gomes in the BYU Athlete Hall of Shame. Congrats Max! You've finally done something for which you will be remembered.

I have been a Cougar Fan all my entire life. I've noticed over the years when I've attended the games and been on the sidelines in both stadiums, that the Cougar fans get away with more blood and guts and more ignorant language than the Ute fans do. Cougar fans don't care who they say it to, they just say it. Utah fans just ignore what the cougar fans say. That really makes the Cougar fans MAD. But i'll tell you one thing. I listened to the Max Hall interview on the tv tonight. I am now an official Utah fan. I can not handle just because he had a bad night in his quarterback position, but he got off on tv. He says "I hate Utah, I hate the fans, I hate their program, I hate their coaches, I hate everything Utah has to offer. Get them outta here." C'mon Max, your more of a man I thought than that. If I were coach Mendanhall I'd call you to repentance so dang fast and you tell everyone in a press conference that your sorry, big time." Become a man Max.

I sugest you read the other article about your Max Hall before you go off saying how proud you are for example of sportsmanship and class.

I'm a fan of both schools because I'm a fan of Utah. I'm also LDS.

But that is the worst sportsmanship I have ever heard from a player.

If UofU fans did dump beer on his family they are very wrong for doing so. But for Max Hall to say the whole school and all the fan and everyone that has anything to do with the U he hates is probably worse.

Because as a member of the church he basically just said he hates a number of the top church authorities. I'm sure that is not what he was thinking at the time, but that is why it is so bad he has that little control.

That also might be why he has been so bad in a number of big games. No self control. It's good he is a senior and will be gone after a bowl game. Hopefully the MWC suspends him for his last game to teach him to think a little first.

in BYU's bowl game. Max's post-game comments should get him some quality time on the bench. Max played very well tonight.....but he needs to be a bigger person given the gifts and opportunities he has been given. Sure some of the Ute players and fans are poor sports, but most are not!

The Ute defenders went for the interception instead of defending the pass. They deserved to get burned and Max Hall was right. They also deserved to lose.

I love how all of the sudden last year Matt Bauman, Max Hall's family, and every BYU fan who attended Rice-Eccles in '08 all somehow had beer thrown on them.

Max Hall will go down in BYU-Utah lore as one of the most classless and immature participants of all time, no doubt about it. Don't bother with the phony forced apology, Max, we hate you back.

Almost all fans are classless, with an exception of a few.

Bronco is VERY LUCKY his strategy to run the clock out by running up the middle every time the entire 4th quarter did not earn him the loss! Changing your successful offense in the 3rd quarter to the prevent offense will only Prevent you from winning the game you easily had in hand!

Then to not take a time out and trust your Senior quarterback to get you into field goal range with more than a minute to go in regulation is one of the stupidest calls I have ever seen! That crazy call alone would get you fired in the NFL! That call showed a total lack of trust in Max Hall! I see hurry up offenses get in field goal range more often than not in those situations! Just because BYU got lucky in overtime does not excuse the pathetic 4th quarter play calling that nearly lost it for them!

I hope the best for Bronco post season, but my blue BYU atire will be retired until Hall does.

As a Ute fan, I hate to see Max Hall graduate. First of all, Max has never played well against the Utes. Secondly, the hated Utes and Ute fans would love to have the mouthy little guy come visit RES one more time.

Max didn't throw any picks but had 20 incompletions! 12 - 32 for 134 isn't exactly what I'd call "coming up big"! His team didn't cover the spread again (BYU failed to cover the Vegas spread each game Max started against Utah and TCU). Isn't that a sign of failing to live up to expectations in big games?

You just said the exact opposite of what really happens. Utah fans are very annoying and do horrible things at games. Im not a fan of either but i heard Hall's interview and... you all need to get over it! Its called a RIVALRY. They both hate each other, even tho there is a lot more Hate coming out of Utah than BYU. Im very surprised that people are mad about it. Then again i'm not because Utah fans love to make a big deal out of stupid things and play innocent. All you Utah haters need to GET OVER IT! You lost, and BYU won. Im pretty sure this game or anything Max Hall said will not hurt you in any way. Trust me.

I have never been a BYU fan, and now i probably never will be. The Utes fought a hard game, and BYU won it anyways. There were some bad calls, but the Utes came back strong in the fourth quarter, just because BYU got lucky in overtime, doesn't make them the better team. and for Max Hall to say those things after the game, just goes to show BYU is no better than anyone. BYU won the game, it should've been left at that, it shows he has no manners or respect whatsoever.

Max should get two choices: either perform a mea culpa for embarrassing the entire BYU fan base with his toddler tantrum, or Riley Nelson gets to start at the Las Vegas Bowl. What an embarrassment.

Does nobody remember Kruger saying something pretty similar to what Hall said about BYU and how much he hates it? I am not saying that completely bashing another school is ok by any means but honestly everyone needs to calm down and stop acting like he is a terrible person and completely classless because he said he hates utah and everything about it. How many fans on BOTH sides have made almost the exact same comments? Everyone says that he made the program and church look bad...how about when we make comments about hating utah? which I know many (not all) BYU fans have. What does that say about us? Hall said nothing that a lot of fans haven't said themselves. Yeah it may have been on television and yes it may have reflected the fans and program poorly, but if us as fans are making similar comments then that reflection is correct and we have no reason to complain and point fingers.

Couldn't have summed it up better myself. Great game guys! I love seeing them lose as much as I do seeing us win.

Sorry my Utah friends. You can keep saying it, but this is not a rebuilding year for Utah. Next year is your rebuilding year. Utah loses 24 seniors after this season.
