I didn't see the game but just knowing that the Jazz beat the blazers warmed my heart. things seem to be falling in to place.. it was a long waite, but I have a feeling that it will be worth it.
Boozer is leading the pack, and when he's playing well it seems he inspires the rest of the team. keep it up carlos, show your detractors just how little they knew about you. you go JAZZ!
This is a good win congrats of course! Maynor could be factor as long as he can the hit the outside shot with semi regularity makes him an asset. That is always been the issue, but tonight 4-7. It was good to see Fes play and had like a plus 9 for 13 minutes and contributed on both ends.
DWIL, and Boozer were outstanding. 61 percent shooting. The story just when things were clicking tonight the injuries-let us hope Kirilenko and Milsap will not be out long.
I cannot get over how bad Portland was.
I missed the beginning, but noticed Andre Miller did not start and only played 6 minutes. Maybe someone can explain was it injury?
There seems to be some issues in Portland. One senses Nate Mcmillian is on the hot seat. I still say Andre Miller seems to be in the middle of this. I wonder if he and coach gets along. Portland trailed 42-17 to Memphis with 7 minutes left last night in the first half.
That should never happen. I am glad they are struggling and that is good for us, but still shocking how bad they were throughout tonight.
DWill and Boozer lead it all and played great but the rest of the team did really well. Okur played decent D. Brewer also played well. The twin tower approach of Okur and Fez with 3 guards is an interesting approach.
Fez looked really good. He was driving to the basket not just dunking. He does change the defense a lot when he is in. He was moving smoothly. He is getting fewer fouls as he gains experience.
Maynor looked really smooth. He also shot extremely well.
This is an impressive win. The Jazz maintained their lead without AK and Millsap.
Hopefully AK and Millsap get back soon. If not Koufos is going to have to get ready to play a lot more minutes. He needs time to settle down and get into the flow. He played well last year. If he does nothing but rebound and play good defense he will be an asset.
This is the second game where the Jazz shot 61%.
It is the second game where POR shot 40%.
Utah, POR, OKC have 7 losses, SA has 6. The Jazz can climb in the standings if they keep winning.
I am starting to believe.
The tragedy is Koufos. He is a great player, who once slashed to the basket, ran like a deer, blocked shots, played with reckless abandon. But Jerry of course torn him down to the point of him not getting any mins, and now hesitating on Offense and defense. He is a great player, and if given mins will be as good or better than Milsap at PF, and at C, he can replace Okur, but give us a greater inside presence, esp on D.
Good win,I was impressed with Matthews defense on Roy,he got 19 but was made to work for them, that`s probably the best thing I saw last night,GO JAZZ!
Memphis is a perfect opportunity for a relapse. They beat a decent team, they beat a good team, but both teams were flat,
was man manhandeled they hit him on the head in the face knocked him down no calles.
The best team is Boozer, Fes, Williams, kirilenko and Mathews.
By KOC resigning Okur the Jazz sealed Boozer's fait. We need Boozer especially when paired with Fes inside. Now thats an inside force.
the Jazz would have signed some 10 day contracts to injury replacements. Spencer Nelson would be on the team right now I'm sure. Hopefully the Jazz can continue to play at the level they are, because it seems to me that adding more contracts (even temporary ones) is out of the question.
Whatever the reason Koufos hasn't stepped up, it's a shame, because he could be a great player in the league.
The Jazz never have any problems winning at home, it's when they go on the road and I know home court is home court, but until they start getting some impressive wins on the road I'm still on the fence for a title run. 8th seed is not good enough for a team that has played in two NBA finals. 8th seed is for teams like the Clippers, Timberwolves, and Memphis, not the JAZZ! Teams that are just happy to be in the playoffs. Maybe the Jazz are sliding down to that tier.
I read the comments on this and recent games and am excited by the style of game the Jazz can and did play in this game - Sloan basketball 101 = Wow. As along time Jazz fan temporarily in Australia, I cannot wait to return to Utah to get up close with the Boozer, D'Will and the team. What can they do when the walking wounded return to the floor?? Go Jazz.
I noticed that as well. And after the game had the same opinion. It was the way he guarded him. The kid did his homework. I guess Roy is not a fan of going left. Nice job Matthews !!! Good Job team !!!
Boozer is phenomenal when he wants to be. I think he is the leader of the team. I like Kirilenko's attitude...The only waste is Okur. Maynor is fast and a good player.
Again, the difference maker for the Jazz in the playoffs will be the Ukrainian flash-Fesenko.
Whats this? Fans are finally starting to see the value of Fes.?
All Fes needs is playing time in the NBA, not in the D League. Same with Koufos. The D League is not a good place to develop Big Men. The D league is made up of undersized tweeners. The pace is much faster than the NBA with all those little guy's running up and down the floor jacking up early shots. It's up and down the floor back and forth, the bigs are not suited for this kind of basketball and spend their time there lost or behind. The NBA game is played at a slower pace more suited for the likes of Fes and K.K. Fes is adjusting and getting a rythum. Koufos needs more playing time then you will see him come around. The problem is Sloan will send him down to the D League as soon as a few injured players come back.
The last two games the Jazz have played the best they have since last years run in the middle of the season. Lots of movement and sharing the ball, very unselfish fun to watch play. Thanks guys! Go Jazz!!!
spencer nelson is a scrub. not even close to NBA caliber
BOOOZER!!! He was hot tonight!!! Whoa, he missed very few in the game against Portland. I'm a believer again...Jazz can do it, go all the way!!!
GO JAZZ!!!
Maynor for mayor Wes the enforcer. Fes guarding the rim. Boozer has hops, Boozer has game. D Will is tearing it up. Oh baby! Show us some more.
Memphis will pose a big challenge, as Marc Gasol is a prime example of a young center who has had the chance to play. Okur can pull him outside, but Fesenko will be needed to play some defense on him in stretches of the game, More coming up on Oracle.
Peace out from the Jazz Oracle!
was a major force against POR. He could pose a real problem for Boozer and Millsap. He is big and can shoot from the outside. He also rebounds. Too bad Koufos is not playing well right now. He could handle Z Bo. Z Bo is not fast but he is big and can shoot over Boozer and Millsap.
Can Millsap play the 3 against MEM?
