Our prayers are with the family what a sad thing to happen for them. Last I heard was that he would be freed soon! I was so sad to find out that he didn't make it! I feel so bad for his wife & children! I'm grateful for all the volunteers that put so many hours in trying to rescue him! He sure must of known how much everyone loved him. They must have been devistated that he didn't make it!
So sad and tragic.. My heart breaks for this young man, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family. Kudos to the rescue crews who worked so hard to help extract Mr. Jones. It's through not fault of their own that they where unsuccessful.
John also expressed gratitude.
A fellow spelunker stayed the first hour with John while Josh brought the Search & Rescue team. As the team arrived and that friend had to climb out to let them in, John thanked him in his own voice.
This is a great family. We'll try to keep up with the Joneses.
Our prayers are with you.
I've been thinking about this man and his family all day. With today's amazing technology, we get spoiled by so many happy endings, but not today. God bless the deceased, his family, and everyone who tried so hard to save him.
This is so awfully sad. My heart goes out to his entire family and friends.
I served with John in Ecuador. It was very obvious immediately after meeting him that he was the kind of person who excelled in all he did. Obviously a very good person.
It is a tragedy that this happened. My prayers are with the family and friends of this man.
Many thanks to those who worked so hard to try and get him out.
I had a few classes with John at BYU. I can't stop grieving for his wife. I have been thinking about her all night long and praying for her all night long and I don't even know her. I pray that the Lord will give peace to her aching heart during this terribly difficult time. The Lord will never abandon us!
Gut wrenching and stressful just to think of this.
I likewise was in the same mission as John. One of the greatest missionaries, in all aspects, the mission ever saw. May God comfort his family and those closet to him.
What a horible way to die. I can't imagine how awful it must have been to be stuck and helpless like that. It is the stuff nightmares are made of. I pray with all my heart that he was comforted by the Holy Ghost in his time of distress and that that same comforter will be with his family now.
My heart goes out to his family, the strength that they have shown is amazing. May the Lord bless them and keep them, may he guide them through this tragedy. My prayers are with them.
May the Jones family find peace and comfort in dealing with this tragedy.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jones family. May they always remember happy memories of John!
Seal the cave. May God bless this family.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Jones family. Such a kind and nice family!!! May you be comforted thru this heartbreaking time.
This special son of God was needed elsewhere and I am sure that all the glory that he worked for, he has found now.
May the power of the Comforter be with the family now and in the future.
My sincere sumpathy to the family and a "thank you" to all the rescuers and helpers.
So sorry for those who have lost this young man. Thanks to the special people who also take risks to try to save us in these crises.
I lost my wife at a young age with a baby daughter so I really feel for the despair that his wife and little kids will struggle with. You have to love the lord an awefull lot to get through stronger. I didn't believe it for years but time does take most of the sting away from the pain and sorrow. The greatest lesson I learned is to love your family will all your might and ability and somehow trust and love the Lord if one of them is taken away. Because it was so painfull a lot of friends and family didn't talk to me about it. But I don't think that's good. My mother-in-law and I have talked alot about it and it helped. Sometimes we get angry, sometimes we should be struck by lightening, but we are getting through and learning. Talk to someone for sure, you really can't do it alone, I think that is one of the greatest lessons I've learned as well.
My heart aches for his parents, siblings, wife and daughter and all other family members. I pray for the Lord to comfort and strengthen all involved. It will be hard but you can make it with the help of friends and family but most of all the Lord. He has been called on another mission and it sounds like he was a terrific missionary while here on earth so he will be an awesome one there.
Thank-you to all those who tried to free him and keep him alive. You are a special bunch of people!
