It's a kids commercial holiday, so take care with prudence of your own little ones and those that no longer beieve in Santa can do without! Save your money and the credit card costs, and buy ONLY needed items for the time being. Big business and their financiers have all the blame for this economy, so let them ROT in it. Enjoy the holidays like they once were with family and friends and remember what got us or you into this fiasco. Diligence is what you need, and not major purchases, no big ticket items for now. When employment returns then and only then can we progress very carefully forward. Happy holidays everyone!
We have been overdoing it for a really long time. We need to think about purchases before making them. Consider the wow factor and the present opening overload factor. Especially if many buy for the kids with larger extended famiies who still exchange gifts.
Consider buying a gift to reenergize something they already have like a dollhouse or a gaming system. Some new furniture for that dollhouse or a new game for that system would bring new attention to a past years big ticket gift for little money.
It's not another's fault you spent too much on Christmas presents. It's your own fault. Spend according to your budget. If you can do a big ticket item do so. Spending if you have it is what helps the economy. Spending when you don't have it hurts the economy.
A line interested me. "We are spending less this year cause we don't expect a raise next year." (paraphrase) What does next year have to do with it? It's this year.
