Let's see. This kid got an approved "home visit" to attend a party, got drunk, fell down the stairs, died and the state is liable? While I feel sorry for the mother, how can the state be liable for this kid and his own actions. If he hadn't got drunk, he'd still be alive. The judge ought to have the courage to dismiss the lawsuit. If anyone is liable, it is the people that left him in the stairwell to die.
should sue the mother for negligence in child raising.
The State has an obligation to insure that agencies it regulates meet and maintain the regulations put in place by the State. Clearly the State and Qwest were negligent in this case. I say well done to Judge Kimball.
Shouldn't she be suing the people who provided alcohol to a minor?
Sounds to me like the mother was responsible for the kid while he was on "approved home visit."
Are you kidding me...once again there is no accountability to the individual and the tax payers are left footing the bill!
all you guys who are saying that the mother should be responsable are dumb they dont have evidence that he had fallen down stairs and you guys have to think what if it was your kid and you did not know exactly what happened everyone that is getting sued has a perfectly good reason why they are gettin sued so maybe you just need to keep your mouths closed. way to go judge kimbell
Since when did a 16-year old stop being the responsibility of the parent(s)?
