Why are the courts so lenient on women on this kind of crime? If it was a man he wouldn't see the light of day for 20 years.Punishment needs to be equal in all cases when it comes to children.

If it was a Man...

We would have put him in jail and thrown away the key. Major Double standard. If women want equality in society, they need to be treated equal in all things including crimes like this.

A year hardly seems lone enough!

I 100% agree. Women should be held accountable to the same legal and moral standards as men.

double standard

It sickens me to no end the double standard we see regarding women vs. male pedophiles. We need mandatory sentencing to fix the lighter sentencing for women preying on boys. The damage is MORE profound in boys then girls because they become ever more sexualized when an adult molds them than a girl does. She should have gotten at least three years considering the number of victims (not counting that of her poor children).

This is sick and wrong!... How dare the judge say there isn’t a double standard here. His sentencing shows the double standard. What is wrong with our justice system these days? Ever more they seem more concerned with the perpetrator of the crimes then the victims of the crimes. I’m afraid our society is becoming more screwed up, the more we think we are evolving. This should make every law abiding citizen angry. Just my thoughts...

Probably Why: re to 1st post

Why? Probably because these types of crimes are less hurtful to the victim when it is older women engaging younger guys than the other way around.

Guys fantisize about this kind of thing. When it happens the other way, girls are hurt sometimes for a long time.

Assuming this is all true, it makes a lot of sense that that these crimes be treated this way.

What would make even more sense is to have a psycologist analyize each situation and if an older guy does it to a younger girl, and the girl is not traumitized, which probably also happens, then the guy ought to get off lighter also.

There should never be one set standard, each situation should be looked upon with its own set of pluses and minuses.

Men vs Women

I wonder what Mr. Pratt will get down in Utah County. He should request this judge for his case.

King

It is quite clear that there is a double standard when it comes to crimes of this nature. The judge in this case is dishonest about it.

I feel like the punishment was harsh. Those kids knew what was going on its not like she raped them so now her whole life is ruined because of it. I feel bad for her

AH

This judgement leads me to believe that her behavior is almost acceptable. How is that?
