Why in the world would someone be so shallow to judge a man or a woman by how many times they've been married. Any married person knows, commonsensically, that marriage is something we all need to work at. Things happen, sometimes things we have little to no control over. If Utahns want to judge, well cast your stone. Good Luck Fred!!

Right on; it shouldn't matter.
Best Wishes.

Finally, someone I can get behind now that Mark has dropped out of the race. Good Luck Fred. If there is anything I can do to help, I will.
All this means is he has determined that his stock is at a good selling price now and he can raise campaign money for free by dumping it. He would not be making this run at March 2009 stock price.
You should care because of the "sanctity of marriage". Isn't that what the "family values" crowd is always spouting to deny same sex couples?
Either it is sacred or not. If sacred, you need to care, if not, then I agree, who cares.
He said it wasn't because Shurtleff dropped out.
He said it was because of the taxes being added to medical devices.
While he has been generous donating to others, he hasn't been very active trying to change things in Utah or in the US re: government intervention.
If he was willing to support Bennett, he isn't as conservative as I would hope.
With the republicans in the minority, Bennett hasn't been able to sponsor or even co-sponsor anything, and he votes for pork more times than just about anyone.
I wonder if Fred will do much different than Bennett would. I would hope so, because I have met almost no one anywhere that wants Bennett re-elected.
Since the paper called Lamp a “Reagan conservative” why then would he have been such a supporter of Bennett all this time, who has spent his time telling people “Reagan’s dead. Now get over it.” Doesn’t make sense, unless of course he also plays the “hedge your bets” game.
granted, if he was married 4 or 5 times - is going to have a harder time defending the assault by many on our society on marriage?
I don't know. He is a nice guy with business skills.
At least all the candidate currently running are not attorneys. We have too many attorneys in the senate now.
Fred states that he backs democrats who are business friendly? What about backing and donating to people who actually remember the Constitution? Fred is just another Bennett.
Personally, I am waiting for Mike Lee to get in. Then we will actually have someone in the race who is a true conservative and can actually beat Bennett
anyone is better than Bennett except a democrat
Personally, we need Cherilyn Eagar in D.C. She has been successful in getting bills passed behind the scenes for about 30 years.
Bennett's record the last few years shows all he can do is spend money. I checked his record of bills passed and he isn't doing very well.
We need someone that can get things done.
Congressman Chaffetz has had more success in my mind in less than 1 year then Bennett has the last 3.
People have responded well to the idea of buy your own lunch. I am not sure they will respond well to buy your own senate race. He might have the money, but...
At least he isn't Sen. Bennett. Anyone at this point would be better than Sen. Bennett. There will be more candidates in the next month.
I am very happy with the quality of GOP candidates to go against Bennett. I would vote for any of them besides Bennett. I have had enough of him.
One divorce, that's bad luck. Two, that's REALLY bad luck. Four? Something's wrong with this guy.
Now I have a reason to care about the senate race. Finally a guy I can get behind...Shoulda been the governor, Huntsman was a mistake.
As one Fred to another, thank you for your candidacy.
Interesting that there are so many viable candidates running against their own party's incumbent. This is the kind of list you usually see for an open, or empty, seat.
I guess that's appropriate after all since Bennett has been missing in action as the current financial crisis snuck up on us while Bailout Bob was supposed to be on watch. He has failed us. I used to support him, but never again.
Oh, how exciting! Another millionaire for the Senate. Gosh, aren't we lucky. Isn't there a medical diagnosis for millionaires who aren't content with their millions but think they have to enter public office?
I think Cherilyn Eagar is the right one for this race. From her website:
Cherilyn Eagar for U.S. Senate
Principles for a Change.
Fiscal Restraint
Limited Government
Free Market Solutions
Energy Independence
Strong National Defense
... not only abroad and along our borders, but within our communities and our families.
Principled. Passionate. Persuasive. Prepared.
Personally I am waiting for Mike Lee. if he gets in the race, we will truly have someone who is rooted in Constitutional principles and has a track record of being a real Conservative. I think we should wait to see if he gets in before rooting for any certain candidate.
He will not do well with the delegates. We want somebody with passion and is down to earth, he will run a big money bland campaign. He is a nice guy but not the right choice.
