Thanks once again to the LDS Church for stepping up and transforming Salt Lake City. Without the Church's holiday lighting Salt Lake City would be a dark and dreary place. And yes, critics, the LDS Church pays for the full cost of the electric bill which includes a 6% franchise tax paid directly into the City's coffers.
Speaking of lights... I like how the LDS Church has a tradition of lighting up downtown at Christmas. But what has become of the decorative lighting on some office towers you see downtown? It's a really sad, pathetic situation.
Nobody seems to care about fixing the blue lights on the Wells Fargo Center, they shuttered the lights at the old Gateway Tower West building years ago, and they refuse to turn on the red neon lights at the nearby Shilo Inn at night.
