Who would have thought?

That a Disney movie starring John Travolta and Robin Williams wouldn't be funny? Didn't see that one coming.

Another bomb for Robin

When was the last hit that Robin Williams had? Over a decade ago I know that. Some actors wallow in garbage for years until somebody mercifully tells them to retire.

Realist

This movie may not be so good, but Robin Williams has been in a number of top rated movies over the past few years... just not as the marquee player... some of which were excellent.
Happy Feet, Night at the Museum 1 and 2, August Rush, RV, Robots, and a smattering of not so good shows... but at least as many hits as misses. A couple of the misses were nominated for or won awards including One Hour Photo and Insomnia (nominated) and Best Actor NBR award for Awakenings. All of which were within the last 10 years.

Re: another bomb

I enjoyed his performance in that one movie where he played a talk show host who ran for president & won because of a supposed computer glitch.

I'm curious as to what movie you referenced from over a decade ago as being a 'hit'...please don't say Mrs Doubtfire. lol

Josh

Awakenings came out more than 20 years ago. Williams has only done well recently in seious roles like "one Hour Photo" and "Insomnia". He's just not funny. Travoltas hairpieces are funny, though.

Biker Buddy

The movie was "Wild Hogs," not "Wild Dogs."

Good Morning Vietnam

was very funny and probably both Williams best performance and best movie as a comedic actor. I think the movie was great for Williams because it showed both his comedic gifts but had dramatic stretches to it.

I think expectations that he created have been hard to fill. When he strays to more dramatic roles of recent, he has been brilliant--I thought he was a great villain in Insomnia. Williams is talented but perhaps like Jim Carrey a bit overrated or a bit of victim of their brilliant early work where they set a bar that is rarely even reached and thus leaves their fans disappointed with their work and movies.

Surprised

My wife and son-in-law wanted to see this movie but I told them about your 1 star rating and tried to discourage them but getting outvoted, we went anyway. I fully expected a dud and the first part of the movie looked to verify my feelings but it turned out to be a very good experience. The theater was a mid sized one and about 80% full. The laughter and comments from the audience added to my own made for a very enjoyable evening. Maybe it was the turkey dinner or possibly the holiday spirit but I recommend this movie to anyone seeking entertainment and don't care whether or not it gets an academy award.

The Authority

Why do they still make movies with Robin Williams in them?

He hasn't been funny, well ... EVER! All his impersonations are the same, he acts like he's on speed most of the time, and he's a harry old weird man. Please, please stop giving him roles.

And please Disney, don't make simplistic trash like this!

I vote we get a new movie reviewer/critic (mostly). I rarely agree with him.

My Thoughts

We thought this movie was hilarious! At one point I was laughing so hard my husband "shooshed" me. I can't imagine what the reviewer or others may think is funny if not this movie. We plan to buy the DVD.

Loved the Walt Disney movie! I have not heard an audience laugh so hard since the Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin movies - lots of slapstick, nothing offensive, and you come out not only have laughing so hard but got the message how families are what life is all about.

Again, the critics are wrong!

Does anyone remember Good Will Hunting (Williams received an Oscar for this one) or The Fisher King??
