Nice to see AK getting back to feeling comfortable about his role with the team and playing like he's capable of. It's been a long road for him, but it's really paying off for both him and the Jazz now.
Peace out from the Jazz Oracle!
you are fun to watch. Keep it up. You do a lot for basketball and the Jazz.
Go Jazz!
How lucky are we to have he and Williams at the same time!
Go AK
This team is a defensive abyss when AK is not on the floor. Utterly abysmal.
Literally, NEXT GAME JUST PAY ATTENTION, when AK gets a break on the bench and Boozer and Okur are on the floor together, WITHIN THE NEXT 2 POSSESSIONS I GUARANTEE AN UNCONTESTED LAYUP BY THE OPPOSING TEAM.
Its as predictable as the sun coming up.
I truly hope for our sake AK continues his resurgence.
Every statistic you can measure says this team is DRAMATICALLY better when AK is on the floor and significantly worse when he takes a seat.
I can't bear the thought of having to watch Miles start again. He is nothing but under-achieving roster filler.
AK and shot blocking????..reminds me of one of teh first games i saw AK..Utah was playing ths Spurs in San Antonio and AK came off the bench to guard Steve Smith, another ego led athlete, who the NBA annointed to be a great citizen
Anyway, the long, lanky AK lined up on Smith, Smith tried to shoot..and AK slapped it back in his face..Smith got the ball again, and..AK blocked it...and if my memory serves me correctly..Smith tried a 3rd time for the same result..lol
the last block, another Spur got the ball and passed to another side, and Steve Smith began cursing, calling for the ball, wanting to ease the embarassment..AK just shrugged it off, with his carefree attitude..lol
I have always been a AK fan..and always will..
At the price he's been paid for years he should have had 1,000 blocked shots per season and a couple of championshiph rings to boot.
His contract can't end soon enough
He would have 1000 more blocked shots if the Jazz didn't make him play wing all the time.
I would like to see Fes watch alot of Eaton's films and learn from him how to move around and get into position to be the defensive presence Mark was. I think he could, he is long, big and moves better than Eaton. If he made it a priority he could really help the Jazz in that area. Then eventially his offense would come around, he has the potential to be alot better offensively than Eaton.
Makes you wonder how many blocked shots he would have this year if he were playing inside?? We had the NBA shot blocking leader and we moved him outside to guard quicker people on the perimeter which is his strength....not. Now a few years later we are preaching defense, specifically interior defense with Booz and Memo but hey we now have a HOF coach!! Keep looking at those Division banners because that is all we got!!
His block rate is down, but he's still a threat to block. That makes opposing players work to increase their separation from AK, which usually means moving farther from the basket and increasing the difficulty of the shot.
The big question is whether increasing age, and playing at a heavier weight, have taken a few inches off his vertical jump. He doesn't seem as quick to me as he did previous years.
