Ben, where have you been?...

...Pres. Obama is blasted everyday in these forums and on right wing talk shows. Moreover, I agree with these columnusts and I am not even a liberal. She is not qualified and is a quitter. She grandstands for her own purposes. What qualifies her to be President?? She couldn't get it right in Alaska. She talks the talk, but certainly doesn't walk the walk. Her running for president in 12 certainly guarantees another term for Obama. And, yes I disagree with much of what the President has done, but I think he is doing some great things as well. Give credit where it is due. America's image across the world has improved dramatically.

Hypocrisy

"McFeatters states that what Palin is doing, and doing brilliantly, is being a celebrity, as though looks and charisma have nothing at all to do with presidential qualifications. It is unfortunate that President Obama does not incur the same type of scrutiny that the mainstream media wish to apply to Sarah Palin."

Obama is criticized for far worse.

Like being a terrorist, a communist, and a hater of white culture.

sore-LOSERS

Sarah Palin is a QUITTER! She couldn't even finish one term as Governor but people like Ben Booth want us to believe she's qualified to lead our entire Nation.
Then again, some people thought Bush was qualified. Most of the Nation knows better now.

Steve the actuary

My biggest problem with Palin running for national office. She quit because of the pressure of being the Alaska governor. Do you realize that Salt Lake County has more people than the whole state of Alaska. If you can't handle the pressure there you can't handle it anywhere.

Ben,

Goodman never claimed that Palin was unqualified for the presidency because she wrote a book. In essence, she claimed it is because of the contents of the book. Those are two different statements.

If you are going to argue Goodman's point, at least get the point right.

OH

Has Palin tried to take over 1/6th of our Nation's Economy in a power grab? Would Palin take over 6 months to get back with the Generals in Afghanistan and their request? Would Palin spend 20+ years in the pews of an extremist only to say that she didn't realize his views were so bad?

Obama gets criticized because he deserves it. Palin gets criticized because she isn't Obama...

Go figure.

The kitchen is hot

Like it or not politics is a nasty business. One qualification is thick skin. Palin doesn't seem to have that but I encourage her to run in 2012.

Palin not right person

Palin's short-comings come down to her lack of mastery of policy and her lack of experience. She is not the only national "bright star" to suffer from these things, just the latest and loudest. Her policies (and her book) are nothing more than typical run-of-the-mill conservative platitudes filled with key words and overtures to everything a candidate should say.
Accelerating her failure, is a lack of press skills (this is often inherent in an inexperienced politician). She may be a good person. She may be a good mother. But politically, at best, she was a disappointing VP candidate (who really hurt the McCain campaign). she is also a quitter. She dodged her last years of service in a job she asked for. Now, she is no more than Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan; living on Facebook and Twitter.
Conservatives can and should do better for their own good and the good of the country.

It isn.t authorship...

...it is inept authorship. Obama wrote a coherent, layered, thoughtful book. Palin filled her pages with superficial tripe.

Rush to judgment? Surely you jest. We have seen and heard way too much from the Queen of Quit in the past 15 months or so that we know who she is, what she thinks and that she would be a disasterous President. A rush to judgment? Hardly. I wish she would just go away.

Obama is far left Radidal. He was trained by readicals, his closest friends are radicals most of whom hate America and are intent on changing her into a socailist 3rd world country. Obama applogizes to the world for America's exceptionalism. Palin is no quitter, she meerely changed the direction she was headed as a lame duck govenor to become more activel involoved in national politics. The reason she gets so much scrutiny is the left fear her. She inspires the elctorate. She has far more expreience than team Obama has, and loves her country which is a whole heck of a lot more than I can say for the current occupant of the white house.

Rushing? What???

Dude, she has shown us her shoe-sized IQ for almost 2 years already.

She might be able to skin a moose with the best of 'em, and she can shuttle kids to hockey games like a professional chauffer, but I wouldn't put her in charge of a school play, much less our country.

Mike in Sandy

Typical

Nothing new from the far-right.

Still no offering of any evidence that Ms. Palin possesses more than a room-temperature IQ.

Sure, she's cute in running shorts, and has bone structure to die for, but between her ears is... what?

Every time, and I mean EVERY TIME, she's given the opportunity to speak to a reporter in an actual, adult conversation and give evidence that something interesting is going on between her ears she issues bumper-sticker fluff.

If she were a guy and looked like Buddy Hackett, would ANYONE find Palin's brand of self-absorbed silliness even remotely worthy of a person who aspired for the presidency?

@OH | 6:55 a.m.

> Given her record and the crackpots she's supported in her church, she absolutely would.

Palin gets criticized because he deserves it. Obama gets criticizsed because people believe the repetitive scare tactics and lies the far right throws at him.

Go figure.

Pretty frightening that there is a movement out there that believes Palin would be a good world leader.

To Hypocrisy

Obama has a ready remedy for being accused of ". . . being a terrorist, a communist, and a hater of white culture."

Just stop doing those things.

Alaska law

does not make provision for fighting frivolous lawsuits against the governor. She had to fight them with her own money. The Alaska legislature was unlikely to provide for her defense. The lawsuit were so frivolous as to be about wearing her husband's jacket. She was paralysed and a detriment to the Alaska people at that point, she needed to raise the money for her defense. As a person who had 2 frivolous lawsuits, both of which I won, I can understand. My business went into the hole while devoted the majority of my time to answering these suit. For me, the stress of it all became too much, and after I won, I closed my business and called it quits, for me it wasn't worth any more. She is younger and has far more talented. Knock em' back Sarah. She reloaded.

mark

No, Palin gets criticized because she is incompetent

To OH

Palin's business acumen, foreign/domestic policy knowledge, and ethical conduct (read: religious training and expression) while the AK gov is laughable...what makes the average American citizen believe she can comprehend, let alone fix, some of the nation's most pressing problems? She only wishes to be a "celebrity" and make $$$ from personal appearances and book deals to pay mounting legal costs. Let her go on Letterman, if she is serious about taking on her opponents - not Oprah.!

That's why conservatives and the GOP have lost their way - look at the candidates they've recently paraded before the voters: 41, 43, Thompson, Guiliani, McCain-Palin...losers. Jury still out on Mitt, thankfully.

tenx

I read one letter to the ed from Alaska which said she (Palin) did more in her short tenure as governor than anyone had done in years in Alaska. He said she cleaned house of the corruption and ole boy network and was highly complementary. We sure need someone to clean house in Wash DC, and no one seems to want to do that except Palin.
