I wonder if this is the last time we see Andy Williams? I was so happy to see him win an MLS Cup. Way to go man.

Nussdorfer AC

Tough to have to worry about this right now.

Ben H.

Yes, I agree with stu. Andy may retire. Chris Sietz, I believe, will be the Union starting goalie next year. That is the only one I am really worried about loosing.

el guanaco

we should keep...

espi (intl)
findley
javi (intl)
will
kyle
borchers
olave (intl)
beltran
wingert
seitz
rimando
nimo (generation adidas)

that leaves unprotected...

andy
russell
tino
el khalifi
grabavoy
campos
alexandre
cox
horst
reynish

now let's find a DP who can take yura's spot up top. maybe van nistelrooy???

I wish the teams in the Final

Could get an extra day or two to let their players enjoy it. Oh well.

List

I think el guanaco has the list right. We take risk of losing either russell or grabavoy, but the rest we could live with for now. I would like to see Cox stay as well though.

it is no risk...

to lose russell. if it wasnt for him we would not have given up that goal. he had 40 yards to track him down and was half walking jogging. why not beltran?

Ben H

Maybe they should try to get someone for Seitz and trade for him first, but he deserves a chance to be the #1 goal for a team. I would keep Andy and Grabavoy. I would leave Beltran unprotected.

Tough call. I'm guessing Seitz will be the starting keeper for the Union next year, although I hope he stays. He needs more playing time and he'll get it with the CCL games, RSL are champions!

Chadders

This is the absolute worst part of the MLS. Who to protect is so hard. I hate that GA graduated Seitz, he should have had 1 more year. Here is my intial list though it could change:
Beckerman
Johnson (int)
Olave (int)
Campos
Findley
Espy (int)
Beltran
Rimando
Seitz
Wingert
Grabavoy or Russell

That would leave unprotected:
Borchers
Williams
Mathis
Russell
Cox
Alexandre
El Kalifi
Morales
Reynish
Horst and a few others

I realize this is really risky but this way we protect our true core players. I really hope that Philly takes Horst as he is from Philly. I'd be suprised if they take either Andy (who would retire) or Clint (who would probably refuse). They probably would take Javi from my list and that would suck but Andy/Clint can more than make up for the loss. Does anyone know if the MLS is ever going to stop this crap? Why can we only protect 11 players? It should be at least 14. If we lose someone I love, I am going to hate Philly as much as CheatUS. Please choose someone that didn't make a difference this year Philly, please.

Re: Chadders

Why leave Javi unprotected?

Bob from Bobbersville

Why would we protect our backup goalie? Honestly..

Spencer

I think it makes a lot of sense. As new teams are created from other states, it only makes sense to share the wealth of players. We were beneficiaries of the expansion draft...just something we have to do to keep the MLS competitive across the board.

Re: Bob

Nick Rimando is 30 years old. I'd like to see him play a lot longer, but Seitz is the next big keeper with a few more years under him. RSL is planning for the future. Seitz is even seeing some National team playing time. That's why we are protecting our backup.

I love all the boys they are amazing ppl at this moment im mad at the club and team i have loved so much they are leaving the man i love unprotected and saying goodbye. I truly wish the team the best but I am also done with it all. Tino is a great player and not keeping him was your decision now the decision to say goodbye to you guys is mine. Im sorry to everyone else who is leaving i love you so much and it wont be the same. to the ones who are staying good luck as well but i honestly dont want to wake up tomorrow and see that the family i grew to love extremely is destroyed, Becks you're the captain take care of family that is what you taught me ...
