I doubt I like BYU any better than you do, but to say there is a Big Two rather than a Big Three in the MWC is just silly.

why only the Big Two (in football)?

While BYU has had a good win-loss percentage, BYU has not had won big games --by this, I meant games against good programs that will keep their chance for BCS alive. For example, TCU (2008), FSU (2009). BYU has been more consistent when the heat is off.
BYU has been mediocre in bowl records.
Utah has been to BCS and won it. With last year perfect record and the rout of Alabama, it helps TCU to have a better argument for a NC game this year.
TCU is about to make it to BCS and has a very good chance to win it.

What is(are) your argument(s) for BYU in the Big Three? Please don't bring up 1984.

Trying to talk to a person such as yourself is useless. Even when someone will show you the errors in your argument you'll dismiss it and say they're wrong. It's like trying to explain to someone that the sky is blue but all they want to do is say, "No, you're wrong, it's not." If you're going to put restrictions on what someone can bring to the table then don't talk about 2004 or 2008 because those are both over and done as well.

This is the big three in the "conference" and whether you like it or not BYUs record against conference opponents over the past four years is 27 wins and 3 loses. I would say that puts anyone in the upper tier of a conference.

Look at Boise State. They are the ones who rule their conference. They could also rule the MNT. Look how they beat BYU the last two times they played. Also their thumping of Utah. Who is the MNT's top team.

There are still no good arguments to include BYU in Big-3. And no, you can't throw 2008 out because that is too recent and it's part of MWC. 1984 is 1/4 of a century ago. Recently, besides consistency in winning games against low teams (Wyo, UNM, UNLV), BYU has not done much. BYU can't even win bowl games consistently.
So, it's Big-2 of TCU and Utah. And the rest of the league are playing catchup with the 2 big boys.

Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How can Utah be in the top 2? It took over time for the Utes to beat Air Force. Remember they loss to an Oregon team which BYU beat in a bowl game. Beating Alabama was a fluke. Isn't Alabama # 2? Not Utah! The experts in the media know Alabama is the better team and Utah is and should be rated below BYU in the polls. Come to think about it, TCU executed the Utes! Remember the 55 points they scored. It could have been alot worse. And you have the gull to think the Utes belong with the likes of TCU & BYU? These are the big boys!!!

I can’t believe the stupidity on these forums. Anyone saying BYU doesn’t belong “in the big 3” is an incompetent Utah fan with a distorted sense of reality. From 99 to 09 Utah has 3 outright and 1 shared MTN West conference title. From 99 to 09 BYU has 3 outright and 1 shared MTN West conference title. Including this year TCU will only have 2. Obviously BYU hasn’t had a “perfect” season yet or a BCS bowl appearance but to say that they are second to TCU and Utah overall is ridiculous. In fact 2 of the last 3 years BYU has been better than both teams. I understand the rivalry is fun to get involved with; I hate Utah as much as the next guy. But please don’t make yourself look like an ignoramus; it just looks bad on the school you represent. I am a BYU fan and can admit that Utah has had some good teams and is a good program. You could point out Utah’s flaws just as easily as you could BYU’s. Refer to the comment “use more brains and less heart when posting”.
