All I can say is--it's about time!! No one's more deserving than the Mailman. It breaks my heart that he never won a ring.

What a fabulous player, so fun to watch, and seemingly a really great guy! Utah was lucky to have him and Stockton. I loved watching them play over the years. Those were the days!

And, I still like the Jazz!

I visited the HOF about 18 mos ago and they were showing me where Stockton and Malone would be. It is a no brainer...thanks for the memories!!! Congratulations!

Scottie Pippen on the first ballot? I don't think so. It's insulting and quite naive to even mention Scottie's name in the same sentence as Malone. What did Pippen, Dennis Rodman OR, for that matter, Phil Jackson achieve in Chicago without Michael Jordon? Notta!

Yikes

The KarlMalone adoration society is still alive and well. What a shame.

Congrats Mailman. Still the best true power forward ever. They broke the mold when he retired. There will never be another. I still smile and shake my head when I think back on all of the times he would grab a defensive rebound and race down the court ahead of the pack, take the pass from Stock, and go up for the one handed jam. Wow. I haven't seen that kind of consistent hustle since.

I wish malone would come back and teach the new jazz how to play real basketball, also show boozer that he isnt worth the money hes being paid.I WOULD BUY SEASON TICKET FOR LIFE< JUST TO SEE THE MAILMAN SHOW HIM HOW TO PLAY BALL???

Re: ECR,
I'll chase that rabbit with you. Where would Jackson be today without Dr. Buss' money to buy the talent in L.A.? Better still, where would Chicago be today if he had stayed? Jackson is an opportunist, nothing more or less.

ddddd

This was a given. Essentially had to wait this long according to enshrinement rules but oh well. Pippen deserves it too due to the fact that he was the number 2 guy on 6 championship teams. The rest of the class of '10 is questionable. However Malone this is well deserved. Way to go for a great career in the toughest era of basketball!!!!!!!!!

"Pol Peeaas"

That's Mark Jackson speak for "Paul Pierce". He's not a Hall of Famer, except in his own mind. He didn't like it here and resented his time in Utah because he had to play second fiddle to Stockton.

splitme2

I'm with you bub, the JAZZ need someone who can play all 82 games in 10 seasons! It was disturbing how Malone left the JAZZ, but he was great while he was here.

Me-ola

Not that I like Rodman, but I think he has six reasons that he deserves a nomination, and he would have to hold up both hands to show you.

No, he's not the Mailman, but he is a better ball player than most of the others that they listed toward the end of the article. Definitely in the top 16 of those nominated.

"What did Pippen, Dennis Rodman OR, for that matter, Phil Jackson achieve in Chicago without Michael Jordon?"

One could also argue that Malone depended on John Stockton as much as "undeserving" players like Pippen and Rodman depended on Jordan.

Do you honestly think Malone would have had half the career he did if he had to rely on Shandon Anderson to get him the ball? So get off the 'Pippen is only there because of Jordan' soapbox and realize that Malone is also there because of someone else.

Ernest T. Bass

What about Jonathan Tavernari? From reading all of the posts Cougar fans write about him, he seems like a sure bet.

Re:ECR

And what did Jordan do without Phil Jackson, Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippen, Tex Winter, etc. Nada! Just making sure you understand there was a TEAM there and not just one player.
I am a HUGE M.J. fan, but he did nothing on his own.

I'm No. 2

I agree on Mark Jackson. No HOF. The guy was a cancer in the lockerroom that season, trying to undermine Stockton's leader role and turn other (lesser) players against him.

Scottie Pippen

He wasn't a superstar and I wasn't a fan of his but Chicago didn't get very far in the playoffs until Pippen came around.

azrickslc

Congrats Karl I grew up watching you play and I know how lucky I was! Thx for the memories.

RE:Enrest T. Bass

Come on, it is way too early to come up with something that weak!!!! About 65% of Cougar nation think JT is a bust. Go back to work and come up wit something for a real post!!

Pippen is a great player, but Malone could have been on any team and he would have been a first team HOF Power Forward. Stockton did not make Malone.

No Question

Karl Malone is a shoe-in for the Hall. Not only for his play on the court. He got into trouble a few times for speaking hos mind but how many people know how generous he was with his time, especially with disadvantaged children? He was a great palyer and is a good person.
