Utah Fan

Can't wait to play the kittens.........

We have the best coach, team and fans!

Bring it on!

Max will complete more passes to my team then to his own!!!! Just look at last years reruns.

We WON THE SUGAR BOWL!!! and that will go down as the GREATEST game in MWC history.

Utah 54
BUY 27

GO UTES!!!!!

Y fan

Somehow BYU always matches up well with Airforce. Lets hope we can do it again this year.

Caution- If its rainy, BYU won't pass as much, putting falcons superior run game in business.

Go BYU

AK Cougar

BYU defense will smother the AFA ground attack. I do not see their offense moving the ball that well against the Cougars. AFA Defense will be tough but BYU can run or pass on the AFA and will do so. I am hoping Unga gets about 20 touches and Tonga gets about 12. That will really open up the passing game so the receivers and TE's can get open for for brief moments to move the ball upfield.

I call this one BYU 35 - AFA 10.

Go Cougars

utah fan last night

TCU is going to dwarf your sugar bowl win this year, or I don't adore my brand new florshiem zipper boots.

BYU 31 AF 24

The AF defense is faster than years past, however the natural grass and rain will slow down their speed

Whine U

...will squeak out a close win in a tough battle between 2 equally talented teams.
Whine U will remain in the top-20 when it plays Utah on 11/28.
Utah will deliver the 3rd home loss this season to Whine U.
Utah 35
Whine U 21

Gotta Laugh

at the litle Cougar out there who says "BYU will smother AFs offense" Ya Right . BYU is defensivly weak and it will be a long day for the Cougars. AFA 24 BYU 20

"BYU defense will smother the AFA ground attack. I do not see their offense moving the ball that well against the Cougars."

Good grief you people think highly of your defense. Is this a product of delusion, short memories, or slow learning?

Well coached?

So, Air Force is well coached. What does that cliche really mean? We hear it all the time, but how can you tell how well coached a team is? Especially, when they lose and the excuse is always because the other team out executed.

I think this is just a catch phrase used in the coaching profession to throw accolades to the other coach. Was UNLV well coached under former coach Sanford? I'm sure that phrase was bantered around each week by the Rebels upcoming opponent.

The Y matches up well with AF. I don't think AF will have much luck running against them. If AF can sneak in some long passes and Unga is out or not playing well, AF will have a shot. If BYU can keep down the passing and Unga is healthy, AF only wins with +4 in turnovers.

The Utes Sugarbowl win is the greates in the short history of MWC. BYUs NC is the greatest accomplishment of any team in the present MWC - ever. Maybe TCU will get a chance to match it this year.

Utah has a chance against BYU if Wynn can hit several 50+ yard passes - which could happen. BYU is the better team without question. Compare the scores and stats vs. same teams this year.

Utah, quit spouting off about BYU and focus on SDSU, they might just give you a game.

WOW

There's a lot of smack talk coming from the yewties about the cougs Defense...55 points given up against TCU, need I say more!

Re:Gotta Laugh

You say the cougar defense is weak yet the utes gave up 55 points to TCU..enough said!

RB

I've been watching AFA-BYU for a long time. It's always been a fun rivalry, even though it's been very one-sided. The comments on this thread from BYU posters that BYU can stop AFA, they can throw on AFA, etc., are opinions that have been formed through years of domination by the Cougars. This Air Force team is different. Their defense is for real, and if you don't believe it, just check the NCAA stats over 11 games, and check the scores of the Air Force games this season. It won't be apparent to many of you, apparently, until you see it on the field. Saturday you will. It should be a good game.

Recently

In the last several years, there are two teams that plagued Air Force. Two teams that the falcons just cannot seem to beat. One is Navy, the other is BYU. They already lost to Navy this year...

AFA Tough Against the Pass

Maybe BYU should run the ball!

Texas Cougar

Good call on running the ball. If BYU had played a little more smashmouth, we would have kept the TCU game a lot closer. We have the personnel, sometimes I think we just lack the infrastructure (enough variations on running up the middle, and coaching preparations for such). Hopefully that won't matter too much on Saturday. Here's to a win and no knee injuries to key players this year!

18 and 1

BYU is 13th in the nation in passing, which is typical of cougar teams, but they are 56th in rushing, which for a BYU team, is actually pretty impressive for a traditionally pass oriented offence.

The 2 numbers that most people tend to overlook in this match up are 18 and 1. 18 is how BYU ranks in the NCAA in rushing defence. BYU won't be able to stop AFA's run game, but they will definately slow it down significantly.

1 represents 2 things. It represents AFA's NCAA rank for passing defence. the number 1 also represents the number of teams AFA has played that have a passing game ranked in the top 50 nationally. That team is San Diego St., and they threw for about 20 more yards against the falcons than they are averaging on the season.

In summary, BYU'd run D is being overlooked and AFA's pass D is over rated. AFA is very good and will keep it close, but BYU's O will wear down the smaller Falcon front 7 and BYU will pull away in the second half.

BYU 28 AFA 13

Re: re: AK Cougar

BYU, short term memory? You gave up 55 points last week with you "incredible" D! Don't talk about "D" until you actually beat somebody decent. Sad, sorry, little Ute fan has nothing better to do than comment of BYU message boards.

RE: 18 and 1

Thanks for some inciteful comments. There are far too many emotional and and unsupported comments on here - the "my dad is bigger than your dad" ones...

I just want to watch and entertaining game. Even as a big BYU fan, I must admit that last year's Utah-Alabama bowl game is the most exciting I've seen in MWC/WAC since I've been watching since 1981 off my mission. To witness that on national television and hear comments from the ESPN announcers was pure joy!
