An effort to beautify Utah Lake is long overdue. This large body of somewhat fresh water could be a wonderful and beautiful recreational area. Instead it is very undesirable. It is a shame to not make efforts to "fix" it up.

Mostly Untapped

Here we have a body of water in near walking distance and finally someone is realizing what an amazing opportunity this is for development. Most areas with lakefronts take absolute advantage of them as the vocal point of the community. I'm glad that UC is finally moving in that direction.

I'm glad that they are trying to help the lake and all of the wildlife!

Here, Here Utah County. As those above have stated, Utah Lake is a wonderful asset the county, and state. It has been abused, neglected, and under maintained since the first settlers arrived. Kill the carp, kill the weeds, and no bridge.

Beautification?!

What are they going to replace them with? Mud? Sagebrush? Rocks? Don't expect it to look any better - it most likely will look worse.

Is this what our government has grown into? Part of my taxes are now going to pay for weed removal around lakes? I think I am going to move to North Korea. Our government is completely out of control.

Good idea

The native reeds are mostly gone from the area, returning to the native species should help the wildlife rebound.

Coincidence that it's happening along the shores of Provo, Orem and Vineyard where housing is expeced to be built? And where public access is limited in many places now?

Excellent news. I'm happy they are getting rid of those ugly weeds.

Very Good Idea

This weed needs to be removed. It is slowly spreading to many ponds and wet areas around the state.

what in tucket?

Even a right wing radical like me (read that favors the free enterprise system) thinks govt must do some things. This sounds like a plan to me. I don't mind if a private company is hired to do this.

Give my regards to Li'l Kim.

Difference there is, you remove the weeds on your own time, after a 12-hour day of patriotic service, and those weeds are all you get for dinner.
