BYU fans

...will find out on 11/28 that their team is really not good.
Utah 28
BYU 21

Guess what

After watching both teams play TCU, it is pretty obvious that neither team is very good.

loose moose

ha ha, "BYU fans will find out on 11/28 that their team is really not good?"

So your "good" team only beats a not good team by one touchdown? Do you ute fans ever think a comment through to the end?

And maybe, just maybe, TCU is just the best team in the country and BYU and Utah are actually pretty good.

Sports fan

This will be one of the lowest rated progams in Romes history it will not ever happen again.

Duck fan

for real, nobody cares about college football in Utah, especially the Yewts.

YEWTS ARE OVERRATED

Boise State Fan

I for one will NOT watch the Y and yewts play!!!

I would rather watch a WAC game and see some competition.........

But, I will predict:

BYU 45
Utah 27

GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Boise State Fan

Dude, you want to watch the WAC to see competition? What competition? You are the only good team in the WAC. At least BYU and Utah are consistently pretty good teams and are probably going to be pretty evenly matched this year. If you want to watch a good mid-major game on the 28th, BYU vs. Utah is probably it. Definitely a lot better game than Boise State vs Nevada or Utah State or whoever you will be playing.

A few points

The Y/U rivalry is big in Utah, but doesn't even make the top 25 nationally. Texas itself has two rivalries that are bigger and better - playing OU each year in Dallas and playing A&M over Thanksgiving weekend. Both epic nationally covered annual events.

Just because TCU smoked the U and Y certainly does not mean that they are the best in the nation. Using that logic OU and Florida State should be 2 and 3 even though they both have multiple losses.

Texas will play the SEC champion in the NC. It will be a great game and the best team in the nation will win. Most likely it will be the Longhorns.

The MWC will whine for the next ten months about getting no respect, while whining that BSU receives far too much respect for the pitiful conference they play in.

The Y will start spring practice once again believing that they have the Heisman and NC in the bag, if only they can avoid getting blown out in a couple of games.

Re:loose moose | 5:43 p.m

That is correct.
My good, rebuilding team will beat BYU by 1 TD in Provo --I hope you can figure out all the factors in this statement.

Y fan

I don't really don't think the "nation" cares a squat about the BYU/Utah game... there are just a lot of people watching the game because there are a lot of mormons

The New York Times did a story about the top college football rivalrys a couple years back. Of course you had your Mich Ohiostate at number one, Texas Ou was in there. And sitting at 4th was Utah byu. "A few points" needs to get his facts in line.

Hey

It's football, not the war in Afghanistan. Crank it down a notch. Too many people say too many dumb and mean spirited things. Go watch the Elizabeth Lambert performance if you have trouble understanding that competition makes people do counterproductive things.

re: boise state fan

hahahahaha Dude you kill me, you have to be joking...the WAC????? I can't stop laughing!!!

To the Y fans....I agree Utah and BYU are closer than they were last year - the key factor is that this is supposed to be BYUs peak and the UTEs rebuilding year. I bet it hurts knowing you will probably lose on the 28th to the UTEs especially since the next few years for the Y look bleak....

You need a new coach!!

Go UTES!

RE: BYU fans

Utah fans found out on 11/14 that their team is really not good.

BYU 35
Utah 17

Re: Hey

Far and away the best comment of the day - maybe even the entire season. Too many people involved with this absurd rivalry nonsense need to get a reality check. Thanks for your perspective.

In no particular order,

I believe the AT LEAST these football rivalries rank above Utah-BYU in the eyes of the sportswatching nation:

Michigan-Ohio State
Army-Navy
Auburn-Alabama
Notre Dame-USC
Texas-Oklahoma
USC-UCLA
Cal-Stanford

There at least this many rivalries again that probably rank higher in the eyes of the nation.

It is appropriate that football fans in Utah think that our rivalry is more significant on the national scene than it really is - that is what being a passionate fan means.

I lived in San Diego about 10 years ago, and was greatly anticipating the Utah-BYU game. There was a sports bar that was rumored to be carrying the game. I went there to watch (it wasn't on anywhere in my 100+ channel package at home), and was disappointed to see that it wasn't one of the half a dozen games being shown that afternoon. I may have been the only one there (out of about 100) who was disappointed that my game wasn't being televised.

I still say it is a great rivalry, but have come to terms with the fact that not that many people outside mountain standard time appreciate it.

Just enjoy the game.

Why do you out of state fans whine so much when the National Spotlight decides to shine on Utah and BYU? Get over yourself. Do you think we care or the nation cares about Texas vs. Texas A&M, or Oregon vs. Oregon State.

WVC

THERE ARE PEOPLE HERE IN THE STATE OF UTAH WHO DON'T CARE ABOUT THIS GAME, ONLY THOSE WHO A BYU HATERS AND U HATERS.

Oh, Great...

... now everyone in America can see just how jealous, petty, and small-minded this rivalry really is!

Ute trolls, be sure to talk lots of trash, call BYU a terrible team because they're only 11-2/10-3 (though your own teams usually finish around 7-5/8-4), and tell the Pac-10 they're inviting you because of two BCS-busting seasons. (Just a hint: Perhaps someone should actually let Larry Scott know that you're on your way over first?)

And "Y-ners," remember that football's your religion and everything else--including common courtesy--is secondary. As we've all learned from these comment boards ALL STINKIN' YEAR (for crying out loud), being a jerk is OK as long as a Ute troll started it.

Oh, and finally, PLEASE disrespect our troops and the suffering of millions of people, as well as mainstream Islam (which defines "jihad" MUCH differently than the extremist nutcases), by continuing to call this infernal GAME "The Holy War." An ugly face-off deserves an ugly name, but STILL, enough is enough.

Re: In no particular order, | 9:

I agree. I have seen publications that put the subject rivalry at #10. So what? The criteria used to rank a rivalry is subjective at best and certainly not factual as Anonymous | 7:42 a.m. rudely asserts. Those who believe this rivalry is something significant have likely not been out of Utah, in my opinion. It is nothing more than an excuse for Mormons to treat each other with contempt. Sad, really.
