Betting pool anyone?

On how long it takes this worthless waste of skin to reoffend once he gets out?

Frustrated

I can't believe people are falling again for the same excuse, he was on drugs, Bla Bla, He hurt the dog he deserves jail time, Don't they all say while there in jail i have learned my lesson, What ever! Lock him up that is what wrong with the justice system today quit making excuses. Lock Him Up He did.

Uh-huh

Oh yes, he\'s a changed boy for sure. And pigs fly, there really is an Easter Bunny AND the moon is made out of cheese. Come on! I really think the judicial system in Utah is staffed by lunatics. I wouldn\'t invite this guy to be anywhere near an animal...unless it was a rabid grizzly bear who could teach him the lesson the judicial system won\'t. \r\n\r\nYet another plea bargain in yet another case of a defendant deserving jail time. I\'ve said it before and I will say it again: This state is soft on crime and soft on criminals. And crime will continue to grow and flourish here until people wise up and demand better.

What About the Roommates?

"Two of Spidle's roommates saw him throw the puppy against a wall, beat the dog with a skateboard and tennis racket and jump on the animal's head and throat, according to court documents."

So, they just stood there through several recorded phone calls of the abuse and watched what was happening and did NOTHING to stop it. There are way too many onlookers who will do NOTHING to intervene or help when something like this is happening. It's gutless and apathetic and the onlookers are as guilty as the perp, in my book. If you try, but can't do anything, that's something; at least you tried. But to stand there and do NOTHING is inexcusable.

GET INVOLVED, PEOPLE. TAKE A STAND. SHOW SOME GUTS.

To do anything less is to be a unfeeling, cowardly, miserable excuse for a human being.

Re: all of you that want revenge

how do you feel at sacrament meeting each and every Sunday? If you feel fine with yourselves, you need to do some serious self-reflection. How would you feel if Christ were the one saying these things about your worthless piece of skin?
Obviously this was wrong, but I am sure that none of you have ever done anything regretful or shameful.

You are absolutely right. Everyone here has done something wrong in his/her life and has things we regret. But how many people do you know who have thrown a small animal against a wall, clobbered it with a skateboard, and recorded it, or beat up and choked another person?

And what has sacrament meeting got to do with this incident? What is up with people who have to drag the Church into every story, regardless of how irrelevant it is? There's nothing in the story or in any of the forum posts that has anything to do with the Church. You need to find more creative ways to express your hate for Mormons.

These cases are always quite revealing -- we permit the unnecessary enslavement and killing of non-human animals but get enraged when someone unnecessarily abuses an animal. If this is truly offensive to us, how do we continue to abuse other animals for their fur, leather, milk, urine, or meat without answering the discovery of these situations with similar disgust?

We have become comfortable with the pointless death on our plates and the rape in our glasses without feeling hypocritical when we condemn a man for harming a puppy. To be clear, this man has done something quite foolish and obviously against what is socially acceptable, though I fail to see the difference between this and the mass slaughter that occurs throughout the world.

Do we owe the same compassion to cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, fish, horses, etc. who all have AT LEAST a primitive ability to fear and care for their own lives? I encourage investigation into what I feel is clearly the most appropriate response to take--a vegan lifestyle--and suggest that to respond as others have here without challenging our gratuitous use of animals for our own pleasure is equally offensive.

Mike

Screw this guy. He is out of control and needs a vacation in prison. He was violent toward his girlfriend and possibly her mother. She left him so he decided to beat a puppy. Give him what he deserves a prison term.
