It sounds like this kid is getting out of Football what he has put in to the game. Good luck on Friday, and on the rest of your life. With a work ethic like yours I'm sure you won't need much luck in life.
Good luck to Davis in the game.
Go Darts!!!
Glad to see a kid work hard, see the benefit of that work, and hopefully get a reward for it, in moving to the next level. I'm a BYU fan and would enjoy hearing an offer from them but I'll be a fan of this kid whereever he plays.
It does take a team to win and I hope the entire team has a good effort against a great opponent and upsets them!
Go Darts!
Davis has nothing to lose friday. Everyone is picking Bingham but if Davis plays their beat game I think they could win it all.
If no D-1 teams come knocking, he should hit Snow College up. They use the RB very well and their starter is graduating, so the job will be up for grabs! Tanner, you need to be a Badger! Go to Snow for two years, win 90% of your games, then you\'ll have the D-1 schools lining up for you with offers!
This is one hard working kid. He will do well with whatever he chooses to do in his life. Surely he will get scholarship offers after the season is over.
To all the players reading this that will play for Davis on Fri, you know what this means! I am glad everyone is underestimating you guys they did the same to us in 04' play with all your hearts and leave it all on the feild thats Davis Football.... Love you big 58 play hard- All 4 One!
Hey Gary the head man at USU, I heard you are all about recuiting in state kids.... this is one of the best! I have watched him punish people that come up to tackle him of offense and on punt/kick returns you would be crazy not to give him a shot!
mad props to dis kiid right here (#2 tanner hinds)...i gotta give it up to him. i hope you guyz take it to bingham this week...we'll be behind ya'll in the state game... you guyz are very " sound & discipline " nd you guyz deserve it....GOOD LUCK!!!
Rushing for huge amounts of yards doesn't mean someone is college material. Especially when you have the offensive line Davis does. Davis is built on the running game. It's what they do. Granted, you can't just stick any back into the system and expect 2,000 yards, but you can't understate the impact a solid o-line has. A great o-line can turn a medicore running back into a great one. Just look at how many games this year Hinds was medicore in the first half and then exploded in the second. That's a direct result of pounding the ball all game and the offensive line wearing down the defense. Hinds doesn't brag about himself because he knows this is all true. He knows his o-line is the reason for 95 percent of his success
Davis does have a shot at winning. That's why the game is played. But they'll need more than just their best. They'll need help from Bingham - lots of penalties and at least two turnovers. If Bingham secures the ball and keeps the penalties down below 50 yards, then Davis' best won't matter because Bingham wins if they play their best. But Davis can take hope that Bingham might not bring their best and maintain focus for four quarters. It can happen.
They already have two common opponents on the schedule and Bingham has performed 21-23 points better against both opponents. Bingham is better and that's why most students of the game are picking Bingham. But like I said already, if Bingham fails to perform then they open the door and Davis is good enough to get through it.
Good luck to both teams. May they each play their best and be satisfied that they did so when the final horn sounds.
You know little to nothing about football. If you have watched Hinds you would know he is one of the best, if not the best back in high school. I bet you haven't even watched him play live. Look at the number of carries he has, there are others who have more than him.
Yep. You're absolutely right. I just spam the Deseret News sports articles writing garbage about random people I know nothing about.
It's a simple fact (for anyone who actually watches football) that teams with the best offensive lines usually have the best rushing attacks. And if you pound the ball 30 times a game with a solid offensive line, you're eventually going to wear the other team's defense down. Did you not watch the PG game at all? Doesn't seem like it.

Davis has nothing to lose friday." - Just their shot at a championship. Whoever wins that championship, athletes on both teams can be proud of their accomplishments this year. While only one can be the Utah 5 A Football Champion, there are 27 other schools with teams that are already preparing for next year.
Participating with a program that wins a state title is nice but isn't the most important aspect of high school athletics. Helping young men and women grow and become better citizens should be the number one goal of everyone involved.
Congratulations Miners and Darts, you've both earned the right to play for your dream. But don't forget the journey you've traveled to get here or the lessons you've learned along the way. Those lessons will be more important to you throughout your lives than having your name on a trophy or a ring for your finger.
Tanner terrific season you are one of the best talents that have come out of Davis High in many years. You are surrounded by team mates that will fallow you into battle and give you there all. I agree with your assessment of your "O" Line they do a tremendous job every game-night and keep firing off all game long. I love watching the hustle and energy they begin the game with and end it the same way. Good luck in the titile game...
Hinds is the real deal. Yes you need to have a good line, to open holes, but after that, the way Hinds evades tackles, and leaves would be tacklers in their shorts and can increase burst of speed on a dime, you can't coach that. He has power, speed and open field smarts. He uses his blockers well. But that is what you do when you are big time D-1 Back.
Good Luck to the Darts! Make it a repeat of 1974.
Let's not forget the durability. That's part of what makes him successful. Many backs would be totally worn down by now with the same amount of carries he has had.
one of the question marks I have about Hinds (i havent seen him play in more that 4 games this year but all four games were playoff games) is how effective will he be everydown. the majority of his yards come off of big plays not grinding it out. he dosent get 3-5 yards a pop and that is more important than anything in a good college back. I hope he does great. the d-ends in college can run most backs down in the backfield and I havent seen him break tackles. One great thing about his is he dosent seem real fast play in and play out, but I havent seen him get caught once he breaks it. Go Darts
Lets not forget he is a super senior.
Hinds can grind with the best of them in fact a large portion of his yards are 5-10 yard runs. My quess is he has 25-30 first downs on these kinds of runs. If you have not seen him break tackles then you have not been watching Tanner Hinds. He breaks tackles on almost every run and re runs very hard. He's not a speed demon but he's very quick, elusive, powerful and he reads lanes with the best of them, and don't forget his durability. Davis has a great o-line and a great RB in Hinds. If you put Hinds behind an average line Then the running game would be average(like last year). If you put an average RB behind the Great o-line the running game would be average. A great RB and a great o-line equals a great running game. That's what Davis has. One would not be successful without the other.
