"Davis rode that defense to a second straight Region 1 championship".
Not so. Layton won the Region 1 Championship outright in 2008. Davis had the 3 seed in the state tournament and finished in a 3-way tie with Northridge and Viewmont for third.
last year Davis gave Alta one of their toughest games of the year outside the Bingham and Grant games and they play tough ball. I'm excited to see this game, I think Bingham definitely has the edge and should win, but I think Davis will give them everything they can handle. Go Miners, let's keep that hardware down here where it belongs for the next 10 years or so.
I thought that sounded wrong. Seeing as how Davis had to go on the road against Riverton and Alta in last years playoff.
I like the way Davis plays defense. I'm looking forward to a good game on Friday.
Go Darts!!!
Haven't Davis and Bingham met often in the playoffs?
1974 3A Championship game. Overtime? Davis won.
2004 Quarterfinal in Kaysville. Davis scores after an incomplete pass was ruled a fumble giving them field position and they ended up winning 7-0 en route to the title.
2006 First round in South Jordan. Bingham dominated, eventually winning the title.
2007 Quarterfinals in South Jordan. Bingham again dominated before losing to Alta the following week.
Others?
1974 3 A Championship game. Players on both teams are in their early fifties. They might be cheering for their grandkids but won't directly effect Friday's game.
2004 Quarterfinal in Kaysville. Players on these teams are in their early twenties. Could have a younger brother on this year's team but again, can't do more than cheer them on.
2006 - Unless there was a freshman on the team, the youngest of the players on these teams graduated earlier this year. Still irrelevent to the outcome.
2007 - FINALLY we have some who may have been on the team for one of the schools - as sophomores.
Unlikely to have made much of an impact on the '07 games but may play major roles this week.
Is there some point to dredging up memories of old games that are mostly to totally irrelevent to THIS WEEK'S game? Especially considering that the one game that may have involved current players was dominated (your words) by Bingham.
Go Miners !!! This is your year !!!
It will be interesting to see the defense tested this week. Davis is the defensive scoring leader in 5A thanks in part to - Bingham. Syracuse owned that distinction at 9.1 ppg until they gave up 38 to Bingham in three quarters. What do Davis and Syracuse have in common besides great defensive scoring stats? They both play in region 1 where offenses aren't that good - in or out of region play.
Davis held Hunter to 17. Hunter scored only 24 on Weber, 17 (in regulation) against Lone Peak. Then they played Davis with a second string running back who picked up 171 yards.
Davis held West to 7. West scored 3 against Woods Cross and 6 against Olympus. Even if the 7 was scored against JV in the fourth, enough said.
Pleasant Grove played three full games without their starting QB. They scored 3 on LP, 20 on Alta and 9 against Davis.
I'm not saying Davis doesn't have a great defense. I'm just saying it's hard to tell so far based on the level of offensive competition. If they can keep Bingham below 21 then that's proof - and maybe a title.
Are you in a bad mood today? I thought it was an interesting look at the playoff history of these two teams. Recently they have met a lot, which tells me they are good teams with Bingham holding the edge in the 2 most recent games.
Bingham is a strong team and they look to be getting better each year. Their rivalry with Alta has given the south valley something to be proud of.
Davis has done good for themselves the last 4 years. The only teams that have knocked them out of the play-offs have been Alta and Bingham. Not bad considering at least one of those teams have been in, and won the championship the last few years.
I think Davis has a good chance this year. But I also think Bingham has a better chance.
Good luck to both teams.

WOW!!!! Sorry. Wanna send my your email and then I can have you approve before I post?
BTW, I personally don't think the 74 game has any bearing on this game. Just thought it interesting that Bingham and Davis have a long history. (The recent games have some relevancy because coaching staffs are mostly the same).
The Darts have a great D which will be needed to slow down Langi and the Bingham O-Line. Another great match up between 2 solid programs.
Truth be told, yes. I am in a bad mood.
Why should today be different from any other?
I'd hate to be so grouchy and not have someone notice.
I'd post my e-mail address right here so you can request permission to post but it'd never get past the board monitors any more than I'd approve your comments.
Calling four games in 39 years (five after Friday) a "long history" seems to be stretching the point. By the year 2014 Bingham will have matched that number of games with the new high school being built in Herriman. Anyone got a keyboard I can buy cheap? This one isn't holding up very well. Two in three months, I gotta quit beating on the poor things.
Our haka will beat your haka.

I'm not calling those 5 games a long history. Those are the 5 I can recall off the top of my head and obviously I'm not nearly as brilliant as you are. I'm sure Davis and Bingham have met quite a few more times than 5. I'm sure Mr. Felt will give us the record of the 2 teams head-to-head in his weekly information. Be sure and rip him for doing so like you ripped me.
only reson davis has best defense points wise is because they were second best until bingham dominated syracuses defense (who by the way only allowed under 10 points a game) then bingham went and scored 30 sumthin points on them.
Has proven to be weak. All region 1 teams play each other. No one in region 1 has an offense to stop. Of coarse there going to have low points scored against them, because no one in region 1 has an offense. There is no way Davis will stop Bingham and hold them under 30 points.
