The Utah all-stars against legit homegrown football teams.
re: HT | 7:24 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Nice try, JD fans, but posing as a Tiger fan isn't convincing. We (fans or team) would never say something like that before a game. However, it is the kind of stuff that JD fans would say.
JD players | 7:26 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
It would be interesting to see a SL and Utah County map with little pins stuck in to show the communities where the Juan Diego players are coming from. The ability to get players from virtually anywhere in the SL area is an advantage. The 3a rural schools don't have that option.
JD Fan | 8:12 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
And the excuses and whinning start again!
Utah "All-Stars" .... I thought Hurricane was playing JD, not Bingham!

Let's not fool ourselves into thinking that Hurricane doesn't have players from other school boundries down there ....... Hurricane is not "rural"
RE: JD players | 8:30 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
What is you point, JD is a private school and students choose to attend the school for a number of reasons. For example: religion, smaller class sizes, student requirements to serve, collage prep, athletics, proven educational success, etc...
Having the school in Draper affords more students and parents an opportunity to have a choice in their education. A private education is not for everyone much like a public school is not for everyone. I have been a sub teacher for public school for a number of years, based on what I have seen; I prefer to have my child in a private school. I am not saying that one institution is better than the other is; they both offer something different for an educational experience.
To continually listen to the “recruiting, best athletes, unfairness of privates schooling” is tiresome and without merit. I would like to hear an educated workable solution to what you believe to be a problem with the current system. Try to think of the end result that you are asking for. If you think that stopping open enrollment would be it then propose it. Privates school are not going away, thats a promise.

Glad to see JD again in the finals! It should be a great game. Sorry to hear about the Anderson kids injury. See you guys on friday!!
HT | 8:35 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
I love trash talk. As I recall JD beat your little Hurricane team. and as for this year you guys barely got away with PC and now you have the best 3a team in the state by a long shot this friday. it will be a good game. but as for now quit the crash talking and try to back your self up on the field.
Hurricane | 8:51 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
We dont have any kids coming in from diff areas, if anything we got kids leaving and playing for Pineview. SELLOUTS
Re Re JD Players. | 9:21 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Proposal. Teams must play in the classification based on where their kids come from.

For example: Hurricanes players all come from Hurricane which is classified as 3A. Juan Diego on the other hand has kids who live in the boundaries of 3A, 4A, and 5A schools.(the 3A part might be a stretch) Therefore, Juan Diego should be in 5A because their students and players are taken from those particular populations.

What do you think?
:re,re JD PLAYERS | 10:46 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
is that your solution? now I am really thankful that for private education!!
Being a product of public education must some how limit open thinking and fore sight, by the way, just how does that solve what you believe is a problem?
Are you kidding? | 11:09 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Why don't we classify based on average weight. Oh ya, that would probably put JD back in 2A ... have you looked at these kids? They're just talented and well coached. Prove yourself out on the field and stop complaining.
defense | 11:15 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
From playing both teams this year, juan diego has a much better defense and defense wins championships. enough said

re re re jd players | 12:12 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
you should be thankful that for private education. sounds like you that might still be getting that private education, keep working hard in school, that, little buddy.
A Fan | 12:22 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
I may be wrong but I thought this article was on the defensive play of Juan Diego not only during the regular season, but also during the playoffs. Shouldn't the comments be based on the article and not on whether one team is from a private school and the other is from a public school. As a Hurricane Alum I appreciate what Juan Diego has accomplished this year on the football field. Hurricane also accomplished alot this year on the football field. Both have been great and are the two best teams remaining in 3A. Juan Diego until beaten are the defending 3A champs. I look forward to the game on Friday for the 3A championship. May the best team win.

Wow, poor grammer and sentence structures on the KSL blogs, that has to be a first and thank you for pointing them out. Try to pay attention to the point of view regarding FOOTBALL! You just might learn something about the game... now get back to the pool and finnish your laps , Timmy.

How embarrassing it will be for JD if they lose this game.
The Official | 2:44 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Embarrassing to lose this game? You are missing the point of athletics. I consider it a privilege to have JD play in the finals of the 3-A state championship game. With your comment, "anonymous" sounds like its ok for HHS not to win and a surprise if they win... Both teams have strengths and weaknesses; JD does have the edge of being the current champion and the better defense. HHS does run a class act and have some big linemen. However, that has not stopped the JD running game this year.
I expect JD to win this one pulling away in the 3-4 quarters with JD stopping the offense of HHS.

Here's your sign | 2:47 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Two great programs that have worked hard all year to get to finals. Win or lose, nothing to be embarrased about.
larry  | 6:23 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
I think hurricane has a huge advantage there is no way they are going to lose 2 years in a row so give this one to the Tigers but JD wins for sure next.
Anonymous | 6:58 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Juan Diego is overrated. This will be a close game with Hurricane coming out on top. Juan Diego has the better talent but Hurricane works better as a unit. Hurricane is very good at the handful of plays they run. It will be a close game and it will be entertaining. Juan Diego was stopped for one half at Park City and i think Hurricane will pull it off. Good luck to both teams. This will be a game baised solely on the turnovers.
