I'm hoping for a tie.

I have a good feeling about this game in Seattle. RSL is playing it's best soccer of the year at precisely the right time. Coach K. deserves a great deal of credit.

While we may lack the experience that the Galaxy have, we have not been given a chance this entire post season to do anything. I think that the determination this team has shown to beat the defending champs in Columbus and go to Chicago and beat them on the road. I think that this team wants it more than the Galaxy, and they will bring the Cup back here to SLC.

I'm so glad Dema is no longer on RSL's roster. He's a hothead that commits a lot of stupid fouls and who tackles recklessly. Often, his ill-advised tackles miss and simply take him out of the play.
todd from santa ana | 9:58 p.m. Nov. 16, 2009
we have players with pace that can run wide and attack the Galaxy, and they are old and individuals can be attacked.

The Dynamo were more leadfoots and did not offer Galaxy enough problems

Watch the tapes such as Dallas/Cunningham, RSL when at Galaxy and other games they had problems defending and see what I mean

The "Galaxians and Riot Squad" will be in Seattle and full force//

I hope a lot can make it and create a "new" nationally known fan based group of theyre own

We're clearly gonna win on Sunday, cause we've got the RASTA POWER on our side!!!

And, yes three11stu, we definitely want it more than anyone else in this league! Fans included on that one!

RSL is bringing it all home this weekend!

We are so proud of the team, GO RSL !!!!!!!
It's absurd! | 7:11 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Just the fact that RSL is playing in the championship game (match?) points up what an absurd game soccer is. A team given up for dead a few weeks ago with a pathetic record is now playing a team that started the season 1-1-9 for the big Cup(?).

The absurdity is the number of low and no scoring games and ridiculous number of tie games (matches?).

Soccer never has and never will be considered a legitimate sport in the U.S.

RE: Howard S. | 7:42 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
"I'm hoping for a tie". You're hoping for a tie huh? Well the rest of us are ready for you to stop commenting on every soccer story, because the only one laughing at your comments is you.

Haters! Haters! I love it. I read the comments every morning looking for new levels of absurdity and childish humor. It realy brightens my day to know there are people more ignorant than any of the self-centered criminals I see at work everyday (I work for a rehab center helping kids go straight).

Thanks!

BTW, GO RSL! We're behind you all the way!
Cam | 8:52 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Been waiting for this for years! Let's take it to the Galaxy. I like the way we've been playing and we've fared well against the Galaxy in the past. Let's play a mistake free match and bring home the cup!
Big E | 9:49 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Where do you ppl get your facts? This isn't NFL where they play 16 games. It is possible to have average teams advance.Sure RSL should have played better early on (lord knows we wanted them to) but they played excellent when it counted.

RSL is far superior team to the Gals. Our team works together and has chemistry. LA was just slapped together by a genius, but still slapped together.

RSL will win. 2-1!

Anyone know if there is going to be a fan bus going up. If so, how much and when does it go up and return.
Perfect picture | 11:14 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Look at the backdrop behind the players in the picture.

Notice any people?

Empty seats.

It looks like a team nobody cares about won a game nobody cares about.

Can't soccer just go back to the rest of the world?
Re: RSL Ulty fan | 11:21 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Yes, there is a fan bus! Call the RSL office and ask about it. $120 per person includes the bus ride and game ticket. But you should call asap - the first few buses sold out in hours. They arranged a few more but they can't get more beyond that, and I heard those last buses were filling up fast.
to todd | 11:29 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
So I am unclear about who you are a bigger fan of.. RSL or LAG???

It seems like you are trying to stay a little bit quiet about it.

I really am just curious i'm not gonna give you flack if you say you want the galaxy to win the cup. You are after all from Santa Ana..
Dobro | 11:46 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Go RSL!!
Chadders | 11:49 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Just for fun I respond to the haters as if they were serious.
Howard the championship can't end in a tie, I guess the orange slices just go the winners.
It's absurd, ever hear the term it's not how you start it's how you finish? The MLS hasn't sold out competition for profits like MLB and the NBA. It gives more teams a chance when there are 1 and done games. No one that has watched the MLS playoffs can say that Real and the Gals don't deserve to be there.
Picture Perfect, you would see almost identical pictures from the WCF last year here in SLC. It isn't because no one cares, it is because it is incredibly frustrating to lose a game that means so much at home. We left the RioT last year the second the game ended. Why would you stay 15 or 20 minutes to watch a team (you probably hate) get presented a trophy? If that game was played here you would see tons of people. You would also see a lot of people if the shootout went differently. It's called an upset.
Fedor | 12:10 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Todd is true RSL FAN.....don't ever doubt Todd. He is arm in arm with the all time RSL fanatics. One can't help but follow team of market they live in....don't hold that against the Todd. Go back, read Todd posts. He has passion for RSL....same passion as David Archilenko sings his songs. Same passion that Rimando saves penalty shots. Same passion as 19,000 strong rocking in RIO TINTO!!!!!! Carnevale REAL is in Todd's heart and soul. Todd has been there...believing thru all the hard time....all the challenge. Todd has been there, on top of the mountain with Fedor, rallying the troops, chanting for our team, believing we could do it. Todd has believed in Fedor....and Fedor believes in Todd. I would be guessing that Todd, Fedor and The Chadders are the Mt. Rushmore of RSL fanatics....probably add all of EBO there too.

Now let's go get them you CRAZY RSL fans!!!! This is and WILL BE OUR YEAR!!!! Destiny has spoken the name...and the name is R-S-L!!!!!! Gooooooooo goooooooo RSL, gooooooo gooooooo goooooooo ALL THE WAY!!!!!!
picture perfect | 12:15 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
The picture is picture perfect because the stupid Sellout fire crowd left the stadium immediately after being upset.
I know i wouldn't stick around if the Lakers knocked off the jazz in utah...
So ironically in a twisted way you are right.
Nothing is more perfect than sending Blanco out of the league like that..

Love it
nerves | 12:17 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
good morning Howard, good to know you are still with us.
That is good to know that the stadium will be showing a little claret and cobalt. I think we have a good chance of having the Seattle crowd turn in our favor if we show that we are the better attacking team.
Absolutely not absurd!! | 12:41 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
What I find refreshing with MLS vs NBA/MLB/NFL is the athlete themselves. NBA is full of over-paid, arrogrant, entitled and selfish athletes. MLB is only fun to watch during the World Series and a team might throw ten pitchers during a 3 1/2 hour game. NFL has changed with so many new or modified rules. Nearly every other play is under review. MLS is a players game and is still played by athletes that I can relate to, and the game is fast and exciting to watch.
KC to the haters | 1:15 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
This is my favorite hater comment so far: "Can't soccer just go back to the rest of the world?" Note the anquished tone. He knows (as they all do) that soccer is now an American sport. The number of people that play (professionals and amateurs) and/or watch the sport is rapidly growing. Television coverage has increased dramatically. Soccer-specific stadiums are being built and neighborhood fields are now standard. Soccer is here to stay.
Re: Perfect picture | 1:16 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
The reason the seats are empty is because Chicago fans didn't want to stick around to see RSL celebrating on their own field. Kind of like those pictures of the Bulls celebrating NBA Championships on the Jazz's home floor - the seats behind them are empty too.

What am I saying....you probably didn't even know it was an away game.

Maybe if you spent more time getting informed instead of trolling around the internet, you would know that the game attendance in Chicago was 21,723.
Re:Re: RSL Ulty fan | 1:27 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
You obviously didn't watch the game cause it was sold out. Would you stick around if your team lost and the other team was getting a trophy on your home field!

Soccer is the World's Game and America's game. For rich, poor, young, old, male, female - everyone. We love the sport and we are only getting better.

HHHHUUUUZZZAAAAHHHH RSL!!! Just got my tickets to the final, we're off to the great northwest, RSL bring home the cup!!!
Re: HATE RSL | 4:23 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
None of the sports you would probably call American were actally invented by Americans. Even basketball was invented by a Canadian. American football is just a fringe version of rugby worn with pads so they don't get bubus. Baseball comes from an early version of cricket. Face it, real football is just the next wave of sport brought to the US. In ten years it will be bigger than ANY other professional sport. The rate of growth can't be stopped.

Go RSL! The World's Game!!
Championship game prediction!!! | 4:39 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
A whole bunch of empty seats!
georg | 4:53 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Howard I have offered before and I will again, I have a extra ticket to the final. Its yours, just join us open our mind and except the beautiful game.
(If you can't beat us join us.)
But Howard won't do it because his name is really
Coward S. Much more fun to sit on the computer in Mom's basement and bash something you know nothing about.
Sunday will be electric in Seattle, crowd will probably be in excess of 40,000 screaming soccer fans. RSL 2 LA 0

Soccer IS American. Who do you think hands out all the soccer balls in places like Iraq, Afghanistan and Colombia. Me, a born in the United States American. To those people America is freedom and soccer!

Soccer IS American. Every country plays the sport and every country has a unique style. America's style is athletic, we don't pass like the Europeans, we don't dribble like the South Americans, but we hustle, we leave it all on the field.

I love soccer!

I love RSL!

GO RSL! Beat the Gals!

Findley goes crazy against his old team scoring 3x. RSL wins 3-1.
Pepsi guy | 6:42 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Just bought my bus trip today (along with 7 others in my family) we are going to be there loud and proud.

Which has made me think: other than college football there really isn't a sport where at away games you will see groups of fans traveling to support their teams. At practically every game in the RioT this year there was a GROUP from the visiting team. They may have passion for their sports on DNews' blogs. But when it comes to putting their money where their mouths are NFL/NBA fans really must not care about there teams that much after all.

Any thoughts Howard, or Mr. T. Bass?

Thanks for listening
fun to play | 6:53 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Soccer and basketball are the two greatest sports to play. There are adult and youth soccer leagues everywhere. Also, you can go anywhere and find a pickup soccer or basketball game (especially basketball). Yet the city I live in has zero adult football leagues (4 different adult soccer leagues). I have also never seen a pickup football game anywhere (playing catch with a football doesn't count). If football is so great why doesn't anyone play it once they're out of college. (other than the once a year thanksgiving game with family members). If you go off of adults playing sports I would say basketball, golf, soccer, softball, and tennis are the most popular sports in the USA.

georg says... "I have a extra ticket to the final. Its yours, just join us open our mind and except the beautiful game.

georg, I wouldn't go to this event if you offered free airfare, hotel, a ticket, and a $100 bill.

Sincerely,
Howard S. (or Coward S. if you prefer)

Howard, Now that we have confirmed that you have 0 interest in soccer, Can you please explain to all your fans here on this site why you take so much time out of your life to comment on a subject you care nothing about?
Bored? scared? What???
It's sad, innit? | 9:22 a.m. Nov. 18, 2009
But it pumps up the RSL news comment hits, so I'm cool with it! Heck, a handful of bashers got the Conference Final story into the Top 10. Way to take soccer down a peg there! (Tee hee.)
Re: georg @ 8:07 a.m. | 9:21 p.m. Nov. 18, 2009
"Bored? scared? What???"

Just counting the days, georg until Rio Tiento reverts to the taxpayers as the finest high school soccer/outdoor concert/Saturday swap meet venue in the nation.

Sincerely
Howard S.

I am a REAL FAN FIRST AND FOREMOST LET ME MAKE IT CLEAR I AM ROOTING FOR REAL SALT LAKE TO WIN WHICH WOULD BE THE GREATEST THING IN MLS HISTORY!

Of course living here I am used to the Galaxy. I respect the players and Arena. I feel the organization is very arrogant, we had a soccer convention here the first year of CHIVAS USA at the ANaheim Convention Center. I met Nick Webster from Fox Soccer Channel and other prominent people were there. Kids tournaments futbol indoor etc etc.

The Galaxy did not feel worthy to have anyone show.

I felt they took theyr'e fans for granted. That team missed the playoffs 3 years and I felt little remorse for the loyalists.

Real Salt Lake grew on me this year. I cheer for underdogs to start. They have tried to win over a state and building a new soccer tradition in a state where Pro SPorts only have the Jazz.

They have gone through the growing pains. I have rooted for them through all the ups and downs of this season.

I will root for RSL ALWAYS
