Noooo! the away goals tiebreaker is the only thing I about game that's not in MLS. I'm on my last straw with Garber.

I wouldn't mind seeing away goals, but I have always been in favor of giving the higher seed the choice to either start or finish at home.
I hope they start awarding MLS Cup to the higher seed, which would actually give us the chance to host one, seeing how it is too cold here for the MLS to pick Salt Lake.
I would love to see a single table in the league, but at least the league is pretty much taking the top 8 seeds regardless of conference in the playoffs.

I think we just havn't had enough teams to be able to work a single table. With 18 teams a 34 game home and home schedule works great, but how do work 11 teams (like a couple of years ago) into a single table schedule? Also I think that the MLS is having to slowly bring the average American to standard soccer practice. A single table champion with a side playoff structure is just totally foreign to the average American. They are having to ride the line between keeping purists happy and what format will attract new fans of the game without having to adjust to a completely different way of looking at a sport.
Now that we will have 18 teams in 2011, I think they will look at it more seriously at that point.

I have to admit i am also worried about the end to the players union contracts.. With the league having grown as much as it has the players are going to start asking for some money. The salary cap needs to go up a bit but MLS might not be willing to do that. I don't think the league can afford to have a lockout.. Hopefully it all works out.

I have to agree that MLS has total parity and in any given game anyone can win.(well except for nyrb and san jose)

The final being played at the home field is a great idea.
The away goal structure makes more sense than the way it is set up now.. That being said i do not understand why they do a series in the first round and not in the second and cup final.

Just change the name of the supporters shield to the Regular Season Champion, then take top 8 teams play the MLS cup. Have all champions league spots determined by performance in MLS Cup.

. . . would be horrible for MLS. It's designed precisely *NOT* to give a home field advantage, in situations where that would be unfair because the teams are from two different leagues.
