For a school known for producing great tightends, it would be nice to see a BYU tightend win the John Mackey Award.

Just like Detmer winning the Heisman in a way reconized the accomplishments of all of the great BYU QBs who preceded Ty, Dennis winning the Mackey Award would recognize all of the great tightends who have played for the Y.

Dennis is good... It would be great for somebody other then detmer to recieve an award and represent the other great BYU players!

You're kidding right? The school who hasn't had any players win any awards is about 45 minutes to the north.

So your saying that the awards given to Luke Staley, Steve Young, and others didn't mean anything....I'm sure it's hard for BYU players to get national awards for the same reason it's hard for a NON-BCS team to move through the polls.

That would be great if he did, however, I doubt he does. A few years ago Harline had by far the most impressive year out of all the other TE's in the country and didn't win.
