Is ridiculously soft on crime. Only 6 months for felony child abuse? What a joke!

They should lock him up in prison for the rest of his. He is only sorry because he was caught. Seeing this kind of behavior fills me with shame to see what sort of nation the U.S.A. is and will probably become the norm.

This is unreal! He gives the baby a concussion and gets 6 months in jail! Will this childe EVER be OK? I doubt it. If not from the abuse, then from the knowledge of it that he will surely know. I need to remember the name of this judge...

They ought to beat the hell out of him, and see how he likes it.

Seeing that none of the commenters know anything about the case, I wonder what your opinion would be if you realized that he is obviously slow mentally. It is readily apparent to anyone who hears him speak. That doesn't fully excuse him, but it certainly mitigates his culpability in my mind.

Yes, he did it. But the natural mother was doing it before he did it. Doesn't excuse him but in an exam it showed old scarring from before there was a relationship between these two. Also, a bruise from a baseball bat that the 23 month old infant's brother inflicted on the infant. Where did the brother learn this behavior from? Let's investigate the mom and see that she also gets a sentencing hearing for what was done prior to this incident. It feels like he is a bit of the fall guy. Oh, the natural mom and grandmother were absent in this hearing. Curious for sure. You neg's out there. No comments unless you are familiar with all the facts and truths. The sentence seemed fair and right.

Your opinions and words are out of line.

Obviously "for your information" you are an enabler to this monster! Only a parent (I'm being nice) would try to explain away his "culpability" by playing the "slow mentally" card! I know plenty of people who have developmental disabilities, and some are severe. Even they know that pounding a child's head against a concrete floor and punching him in the stomach and face, knows it's wrong and to not do it! Let us also mention that by Jason's own admition he not only has done this twice before to the baby, but has also done so to his brother who is a year older! You try to make him out like he is incapable of knowing what he does is wrong, yet he pays his bills, holds a job down and by no means act's like he can not reason for himself. On the contrary,.. he tried to cover up what he did! "He fell off the table" That alone shows culpability. I wonder what the deaf community would think if they read how you tried to explain his actions away by saying he is partially deaf..which is all it is! Ridiculous!

Have some respect and back off....everybody knows what he did was wrong and they aren't making excuses. He's paying his dues and he will carry this with him forever.

Six months for cracking a childs skull? I don't know what is happening to our justice system. Child abuse should have a mandatory sentencing system and cracking a childs skull should easily get you 3 yrs in state prison.

No, the child will carry this with him forever!

There are alot of people that work two jobs and have difficult relationships, don't give me excuses and ex post facto remorse, it disgusts me. This guy deliberately gave a defenseless child a near death beating. I say let him do hard time, then kick him out of the country. Thats paying his dues..back off that.

I agree with Vaughn.

Why is it ONLY a second degree felony to seriously and intentionally harm a small child?
Red | 11:58 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
This makes me SICK. This man knowingly hit a child, causing serois injury, and then tried to cover it up. He seems very much more concerned with trying to save his own skin than he does for the damage this has done physically and emotinally to this child. 6 months is nowhere near a long enough sentence for something this serious.

I can only take some solace that a wise Heavenly Father knows exactly what is due for justice to be served. His time will come to pay for what he has done. All I know is that the Savior explicitly denounced anyone who abuses children as it being better that a millstone were hanged about thier neck and drown in the depths of the sea. Have patience and trust the real justice system in the hear after. It works.
every time you slap a child | 2:18 p.m. Nov. 17, 2009

I cannot say the words that would convey my thoughts!

I was checking out local news and came across this, and was surprised to find that this is someone I once knew. Our relationship ended because he was emotionally unstable, and that was quite a few years ago, so I do not believe that he will change, no matter how many classes and therapy sessions he has. This sendtence is far to easy on anyone who abuses a child. I do not care what their mental state is, abusing a child is something that is unforgivable, and the person should spend at least 15 years in prison, and then never allowed to have children or be around children. Just my two cents.
