BYU, Utah Utes football: A look ahead, a look behind
11 comments | Read story
TCU - 13-0, 1st MWC, #2 in AP and Coaches
BYU - 11-2, 2nd MWC, with another Top 25 finish
AFA - 8-5, 3rd MWC tie
Utah - 8-5, 3rd MWC tie
Looking ahead to the next two years, though, I see Utah improving and BYU entering their rebuilding phase.
What a joke!
Nice post, Ute fan!
Looking behind: bad loss to TCU
Looking ahead: good rebound win vs SDSU and very good "exclaimation point" win vs BYU
Looking behind: tough win over UNM in a battle of 2 equally talented teams
Looking ahead: survive AFA and tough loss in a overmatched vs Utah
Both BYU and Utah are 8-2 and the combined record of their non-conference opponents (since they play the same opponents in the MWC) is 16-23 for Utah and 17-23 for BYU (including the same results against USU, 35-17). Both lost big to TCU in conference (their only conference loses) and both will likely be 9-2 when they meet in Provo.
Okay, TCU is MWC champs, but the battle of Utah comes down to the final game again, and I don't want to hear any more Utah fans whining about BYU's schedule. If you win, all praise to your team and coaches, but if you lose, be good sports and take it like grown ups!

Against Airforce: This will be another home loss for the Y. Airforce came within three of TCU and took Utah to overtime. Prediction: Airforce: 34 BYU 27
Against Utah: Utah got beat up against TCU but they did score 28 points. This will be a close game but Utah pulls it out. Prediction: Utah 31 BYU 24
Bronco will finish with 4 losses and will declare the 09 season to be a success none the less. Content with mediocrity. Remember folks - winning is #4 on the priority list for Bronco.
