I WONDER WHAT WE WILL BE RANKED AT NEXT WEEK? IS THERE A 200.
Cougars Rising | 11:25 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Good to see BYU move up even after a lackluster win against an 0-9 team. Just hope they show better against AFA.
Rankings | 11:27 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
For BYU & Utah it all comes down to the BYU vs. Utah game.

It will determine who finishes 2nd only to a top 4 team TCU. It will determine who finishes as a ranked team. Who gets the better bowl game.

And most important who has to listen to who about who beat who all of next year.

Good luck to both teams. But at this point in the season just glad TCU won the game. Now just need to hope two of the top three lose and no one below TCU jumps ahead. On of the top 3 will lose for sure. How much would the BCS hate if they had to let TCU play in the championship game.

Good Morning Utah Fans:

THIS... is what it feels like to be a top twenty program.

Gee, I sure hope you don't drop out of the ranking when you lose at LES in two weeks...

(BTW... who is planning all of your parades this year???)
Anonymous | 11:29 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
So nice to have things back where they should be. Hope you enjoyed the limelight of being a top 20 team.

Yay for the Cougs!
BYU-UTAH FANS | 11:31 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
I am a huge BYU fan, and saw the slaughter last night...Utah didn't belong on the same field as TCU and as much as I hate to say it, neither did BYU when they got pounded at home....Saying that, lets just see who wins in 2 weeks...I read all the blogs and they are ridiculous...Bottom line is Utah isn't nearly as good as they thought this year, and BYU needs major improvement in defense if they want to win out...
Also, the comment on Utah rebuilding is simply a cop out, your QB situation just isn't that good...
Weak MWC | 11:31 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Thumping on Utah and Y does not make TCU worthy of #4 ranking. The MWC this year is dismal. The only reason to keep Utah and Y in rankings is name recognition.
Tarheel/Carlisle Ute | 11:40 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
The MWC is well represented with three teams, reflecting the deserved respect due the MWC. I think its reasonable to assume the BYU is slightly better than Utah, but the final verdict and 2nd place in the MWC weill be determined on the field in two weeks.

No doubt TCU is the best in the MWC. TCU has proven its ranking dominating Utah and BYU, along with a couple of good OOC wins over Clemson and Virginia.

It is good that BYU and Utah yet to play, the homers from each side with no doubt do there best to spin there pasts and recent victories and losses. But reasonalble fans from both sides will gleefully await the game, one of the best rival games in college football, this year in Provo.

Good luck TCU, well deserved. May the best of Utah and BYU come to play and watch week after next.

Go Utes.
Nice... | 11:52 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
The world is right again. Thanks for staying ranked Utes...I guess we will see BYU add another win over a ranked team to their resume for the year!
Christmas Comes Early | 11:54 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
After the beatdown you took last night, #23 is a gift Utes...only one spot behind USC? No way. Can't wait for the 28th!

Hopefully TCU will play either Alabama or Florida, or maybe Texas. Good luck. We'll see who get exposeds. TCU is not the 2008 UTAH team. Not even close.............
Berf | 12:02 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Its disapointing that TCU is not #3. They have certainly played like a top 3 team. Unless the voters realy think Utah is that bad which may be true.
shecky | 12:11 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Where is Utah State in the top 20? That just goes to show that it's all political.
Noooooo | 12:12 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
This can't be. BYU rated above Utah. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!Utah has more street cred than BYU. Utah has better history (albiet recent). There must be a conspiracy. Yes. That's it. A conspiracy. Well .....

Perhaps BYU still has some national respect. The great thing about this whole mess is ... It will be settled on Nov 28th. Mark it down.

If you're going to have a potty-mouth about the other school, just remember ... Crow doesn't taste so good. Measure your words wisely.

Anyone feel like explaining to me my why BYU is even ranked????
PRICELESS!!! | 12:20 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
The look on Coach Carroll's face is great!!! A 7-3 record and a beat down by Stanford!!! Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch!!!

Awesome Saturday, a beat down of USC, a beat down of Utah, a win (ugly win, but a win) over UNM by BYU. . . the only thing that could have made it better would have been if the Buckeyes had lost, and Iowa was going to the Rose Bowl instead, and if BYU had actually covered the 27 point spread like they were supposed to. I hope Michigan can pull an upset next week. Overall, not too bad of a day.

I heard somewhere that USC is now the 5th place in the Pac-10. What if they went to the Las Vegas Vowl? Assuming BYU wins out and they get invited, a BYU-USC matchup alone would make for an interesting game!!! I would LOOOVE nothing more than to have a chance to see Pete Carroll and the Trojans lose to BYU! That would be even better than a BCS Bowl! I would be way excited for that chance and I would hope that BYU would too!

Big OUCH! on the Utes. The talk around the water cooler will be much more quiet this week. Although I'm sure we'll be hearing all kinds of excuses.. was it the refs?, the coaches?, maybe the change in humity on the field?. Plain fact is.. the Utes were beaten by a much superior team.
Polls are dumb | 12:27 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
The polls have no credibility. BYU move up after barely beating winless New Mexico? That is about the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Oh, and I am a BYU fan.
Duh | 12:37 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Oh how the mighty have fallen. They have looked weak in their conference this year.

Re: Weak MWC | 12:41 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Like we care what you think. TCU, BYU and Utah continue to be great programs. Only because they have to beat each other up do we fall. Can't win every game in your conference, just ask Florida, Alabama, Texas, USC.....every conference has its losing teams.
Polls watchers are dumber | 12:56 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Movement in the polls is based on MANY things:

How you did this week

How teams around you did this weeks

How you've done all season

How other teams around you have done all season

How your opponents have done all season

Sometimes a greater or lesser performance isn't fully refleted in the polls until a week or two later

So, "just about the stupidest thing" is for a hater to complain about the rankings based on only one factor.

zoobs, and we'll see you and your awesome defense in a couple weeks. It has to bother you that the utes are still ranked.

Congrats to TCU. They are deserving of everything coming their way this bowl season. It's scary to think about how good they will be again next year also. It looks like both Utah teams better get used to fighting for 2nd
ritas4ice | 1:06 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
How is Utah still ranked after that thumping???
Bear Laker | 1:09 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009

Hold on now, Cougies | 1:09 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
For all those aghast at how the Utes are still ranked even though they got beat by TCU, I would like to suggest some humble pie.

Seems like y'all have forgotten that both of the Utes losses have come on the road, and both versus top-ranked teams.

The TCU loss the two of you have in common, I'll certainly take losing on the road to Oregon by 1 TD over getting a beatdown at home by a team in FSU who's just hoping to be bowl eligible at the end of the year, and that only because they can count beating an FCS team.

Looking at the losses objectively and Utah's losses are easier to swallow versus the at home beatdowns suffered by BYU.

Additionally, all the Cougar fans were running endless smack this week about how they pulverized Wyo and the Utes had barely beaten them the week previously.

Hmmm don't hear any any Cougar fans suggesting the Cougars are horrid because they barely beat the worst team in FBS this week on the grace of several missed FG's.

Cougar Fans, can't live with them, .... can't live with them

Big J | 1:11 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Utah is a top 25 team. BYU is a 30 to 50 team. That will be very evident as BYU loses its last three games of the season. (Bowl loss included)

Yes, Utah got worked last night by maybe, the best team in the country, on their home field. We did score 28 points with our freshman QB against their starters.

BYU fans, are you really feeling good about your chances against the U?

Go Utes!
Rankings Are A Farce | 1:11 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Huff and puff, blow your brains out locals, truth is neither of your teams are worthy of a ranking. I put NO credence in polls anyway, they are just another political THING! When push comes to shove you really show everyone nationally(I mean fans) what your both made of--PAPER! Win over New Mexico a wimless team by a few points and a drubbing by a decent team and your ranked? Give me a break!
Utah too low. | 1:14 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Utah dropped to low! T.C.U. is/was #4 after all. B.Y.U. still has the win over Oklahoma that brought a lot of national attention. SEC gets a benefit of a doubt when they lose in a tough conference...so should the top three MWC teams.
bigutefan | 1:36 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Losing to Air Force will be the end for you Yner fans! Funny that a freshmen qb on the road can score 28 points against the best defense in college football. Yet that mighty oh so powerful offense and senior heisman wanna be qb could only manage 7 points in Provo. TCU is a great team, no excuses, thought the Utah defense would be better against them, but at least now Utah is not the only MWC carrying the conference. When might the Yners do their part to contribute to the conference? Stick your 84 fake National Championship in the past, since it was the WAC. What have you done for the MWC? NOTHING!
NEWPORT | 1:36 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
The trojans got beat by 34 at home against STANFORD?

The most points EVER (55) aginst a trojan team?

The trojans are niot going to the rose bowl?

No way!

Way!

I wondered why no one was wearing their usc stuff today.
We'll see. | 1:57 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
BYU fans please remember there is a game against Air Force coming up...and we have been losing in LES and we barely beat New Mex with our team whole and healthy and our starting SENIOR QB playing. We got a gift today jumping in the polls after the representation we had yesterday...and Bronco was on KSL after the game making excuses and actually commenting on the week before at Wyoming.

Utah isn't going to lay down and take a beating just because they are currently ranked lower...every year it is a tough, hard fought game (except the Utah BCS years).
Horned Tadpole | 2:00 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Yo, Utah fans. THAT'S what a BCS title contender looks like.
Ute QB | 2:00 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
situation "Isnt that good" according to one Y fan. I for one am happy because the Utes have an athletic guy with a good arm who can learn the game and be great in 2 years. This is a rebuildiny year for Utah. They lost their leader in Brian and 2 pro players on defense. BYU should beat Utah this year and only the coach can lose this game and it WONT be Whit. WOrry about BYUs coaching situation there Mr Cooooogar because that is something that YOU need to worry about Brono is an only mediocre coach who will never get BYU to a BCS game. Never.
re: ritas4ice | 2:00 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
You could ask the same question about USC who has on more loss and lost to lower ranked teams than Uath has.

To all you other U haters. Your teams wouldn't win half their games after losing their #1 offensive weapon. Utah has had more adversity to over come this season than any other team in the MWC and still will finish 2nd after AFA beats BYU and Utah does the same.
Pete Carroll | 2:08 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
now that you are ranked so low and 5th place in the PAC 10 - Give back part of your highest salary in College Football. You sure have not earned it!!!
re: Big J  | 2:10 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
and Utah's pathetic defense gave up 55 to TCU, and it could have been worse

keep talking Utah fans

you've talking all season and you've failed at every opportunity to prove yourselves

stop pretending that Utah's failures have somehow been better than BYU's failures
dave | 2:13 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Ute fans are hanging their hats on "we scored more points than BYU, so naturally that means we will beat BYU." Little do they realize that BYU held TCU under 40 points and the Utes were supposed to have a better defense. Utes defense did well against teams that offense ranked below, usually well below 68. Not hard to look good going against cruddy offenses.
Re: Weak MWC | 2:26 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
"Thumping on Utah and Y does not make TCU worthy of #4 ranking. The MWC this year is dismal. The only reason to keep Utah and Y in rankings is name recognition."

Kinda like USC or Oklahoma, right? It took USC 3 losses to finally drop to #22, and it took Oklahoma 4 losses to drop out of the top 25 completely.

You can't honestly tell me the MWC is any worse than the Big East or ACC. TCU has more wins over teams that are currently ranked than Florida, Alabama or Texas.

I'm not saying that TCU is leaps and bounds ahead of Florida, Alabama or Texas...I'm simply saying you shouldn't discredit them so quickly. Perhaps the MWC is the traditional, storied power conference that the SEC is, but it's certainly not weak.
Ida coug | 2:27 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
All this talk of Utah being in a building year and what a great tradition you have established. Anyone taken note of the future? Fox sports scout report shows BYU as the number 15 program in recuriting this year. BYU has 25 commits, and of those two are top 100 prospects, one is a five star, four are four star, and 14 are three star, with 11 offensive and 14 defensive players. The next closest MWC team is Utah at spot 54, then Wyoming at seventy something. Couldn't look better for Klassless Kyle and the Ute blabberers!
Re bigutefan | 2:28 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
It will all be settled the 28th. no need to bring down a supirior team (BYU)
@Weak MWC | 2:31 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Is that why USC squeaked by Notre Dame and got blasted in their own conference? Or why the Utes demolished their two BCS opponents? Wake up and watch the game, not your own press clippings.

This will be short lived. Coach Anae's ability to play the offense down to the level of our opponents will be the Ys downfall against AFA and even the U. Mark my words our offense will be inept the following two weeks. I hope I can be wrong, but I don't think I will be.
What's 55? | 2:36 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Jimmy Carter's freeway speed limit and the number TCU hung on the utes crapppy defense. Where's the speed? In your ute dreams.
