Goal Post: MVP. Nothing else even close. BYU’s best defensive player is an inanimate object cemented into the ground at the back of the end zone.

BYU did win this game, UNM gave it to them.

My grades for the team by position. Well this is easy. The entire team, including coaches, get a big fat F. If there was a lower grade than F they would get that. Pathetic preparation. Pathetic execution. No one player on BYU should feel good about their performance. UNM should have won the game. If they would have hit just 2 of their missed field goals they win. I am embarrassed by the performance of the entire program. UNM is the worst team in D1 football. The worst and they out played us. We didn’t win this game. The lobos handed it to us. They outplayed us. Pathetic product BYU put on the field today. I don’t see this team winning another game the rest of the year and Utah will beat us by 20+ and we will get destroyed in a bowl. We really are not that good. Sad but true!

whittingham is heads and shoulders above Mendenhall in coaching. BYU has better talent but Utah has better coaches. Utah always improves as the season goes on and BYU continually disproves. Bottom line, Utah will beat BYU by 7.

I think we are better than we played yesterday, but I agree that we were lucky to pull that game out. UNM missed, by less than a foot, two field goals and an extra point. If we play like that against Utah (or even Air Force), it's going to be ugly.

Wow, pretty harsh comments, "MVP of the game?".
I think BYU showed some guts in holding on to win that game.
Max Hall had a very good game, by any "normal human" standards. I guess to get better than an F you need to throw for 600 yards and 4 TDs.
I think BYU's linemen got "owned" a bit by the New Mexico line, on both sides of the ball, although BYU's defensive line really showed up on New Mexico's last drive.
The skill players get all the press, good or bad, but the game really is decided in the trenches.

looking at where we are today...

BYU is a top twenty program.
Utah is not a top twenty program.
Utah has to beat a top twenty progran at LES in two weeks to avoid being third in the MWC, and dropping out of the national ranking, with a freshman QB.

Oh, and your basketball team lost at home again last Friday.

In all seriousness though we really aren't as bad as we played in that game. We probably played worse in that game then we did against TCU or even FSU. If our players come prepared and come to win against Utah, I think it will actually be a good game and we could win. If not, then it could easily be another FSU or TCU type game. I do think we'll beat Air Force.

BYU is LUCKY to get out of UNM with a win. They missed three field goals AND a PAT. The worst team in the country...wow!!!

BYU a top twenty program? Hmmmmmmm...

Why the obsession with Utah's freshman QB? Wynn's personal stats against TCU are quite good especially for his second start and being against TCU. Can someone remind me how Hall did against TCU?

You are right, Max Hall did deserve at least a B. Would be an A against a stronger opponent. Defense was bad... maybe the Lobos had their "old" defensive coordinator figure out. :O) Oh and Sam, don't forget the second extra point they surely would have kicked had they made the first one! :O) Oh, and hats off to the freshman quarterback for the Utes... very tough situation. Just a Big 12 fan who is not really a Y or U fan making some observations. I do expect an exciting game between BYU and Utah, this is what I see this leading up to... second place showdown! :)

I have to amend my comment... Utes and Cougars playing for second. Look at how well Air Force played TCU and how well they are playing now! They could beat BYU and BYU could beat Utah... interesting huh?

of the UNM game on the mtn. It's actually worse that the original. Anae's play calling is actually worse the 2nd time through. How in the world does Harvey not run the ball down UNM's throat...unbelievable.

Shame on me for even attempting to watch this game twice.

The game was UGLY. Kind of like the Utah New Mexico game last year, or the Utah Air Force game this year and lkast year, or the utah TCU and Utah OSU game last year ect ect...It can happen to any team at at any time. Utah was 2 horrible field goal kickers and 3 easy drives against prevent defenses last year from having 5 losses. WHAT A JOKE!
