TCU clearly is the class of the league...or the nation. Way to go frogs...I believe they could beat anyone this year. Hope they get the chance
Coug Fan/Ute Respecter | 6:26 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
The Cougs and Utes suffered comparable losses to TCU. It will make for a very interesting match-up when the Utes visit LaVell Edwards stadium.
Utes | 7:30 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Coach Whit did NOT have his team ready to play. This game was over in the second quarter.

BUT, Utah did come back and score 14 points in the second half. I would have liked to have seen BYU not give up and at least stay in the game when it lost to TCU.

I hand it to Utah for playing tough against a very good TCU team. Simple, TCU is better. That's OK.
At least Utah is consistant week after week vs. BYU who may or may not show up on any particular gameday.
A great big U... | 8:21 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
...for Ugly playing.
Note to Kyle... | 8:40 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009

Hey UTES, Carder is still open!

Congratulations, TCU.

Wyoming and New Mexico remain and anything can happen in a game, but TCU looks like they have all but sewn up a BCS birth. Not only that, if Texas loses (Kansas, Texas A&M, or the Big 12 Championship game) and TCU wins out, TCU could be in the title game.

BYU and Utah, right now, are playing for #2 in the conference.

Also, if TCU and Boise State (USU, Nevada, NMSU) win out, both are now pretty much assured of getting BCS bids.
RE:Utes | 10:02 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
I really don't know how much preperation played in this game. They certainly could have cut down some penelties, but a few of the penelties had me scrathing my head. The thing that disappointed me was how badly we were beat in special teams. I know it comes down to as you said preperation. Maybe we need a coaching change at special teams. If you remember, other than King Louie, our special teams have been aweful since Urbie left.

Defense looked horrid, but they were tired by the 4th quarter. Had to protect many short fields in the 1st half.

On a bright note, I think we have a quarterback for the future.

Yea the utes are consistent week after week, like when they didn't show up for Wyoming and eaked out a victory.

Bottom line is this: Utah and BYU beat the bad teams and lose against better teams like the utes with Oregon and TCU and the Cougs with FSU and TCU. There is only one game that separates them this year as to who is better and that is BYU's victory over Oklahoma. The utes do not have a simialr victory. All that said, the game on the 28th should be another good one and may come down to who has the ball last.

U is for.... | 10:21 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
...Ugly loss!
Eugene | 10:26 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Can't you just say simply that Utah got beat instead of dragging a comparison of BYU into it? Does that justify the Ute loss? Yeah, BYU got beat by TCU as well. So what!

TCU should have a chance at the national championship if they continue undefeated, but the BCS monopolists would never let that happen.

The only comparison between Utah and BYU will be the end score in Prove on Thanksgiving weekend. Then you can unleash the braggards and apologists, but until then it's all just cheap trash talk. Yup, only then will you be able to tell the thankful from the turkeys!
Stay in the game? | 11:09 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
It was over in the second quarter. A 17 point loss is not staying in the game.

Utah consistent week after week? Let's review how Utah has showed up every week: a weak win, near loss to San Jose State. Beat CSU by 7. A near loss to Air Force, beat by 7. A near loss to Wyoming, beat by 12. All these teams were in it until the very end.

I don't think Ute fans need a reminder of BYU against CSU and Wyoming, yeah a combined 94-23 whooping.

Utah at BYU Nov. 28, can't wait.

hey don't feel bad Boise State still owns both of YoU!
TCU Luvvin' Hurts Utes | 11:35 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Looking at where we are today...

BYU is a top twenty program.
Utah is not a top twenty program.
Utah has to beat a top twenty progran at LES in two weeks to avoid being third in the MWC, and dropping out of the national ranking, with a freshman QB.

Oh, and your basketball team lost at home again last Friday.
TCU Good | 11:35 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
But Great? Just because they man-handled both the Y and Utah doesn't make them any better than BSU. The MWC has always been a black hole after the top three. This year Utah and Y have not proven to worthy of their rankings.

There is only one University of Texas and they will be playing for their 5th NC.
so which was worse | 11:45 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
byu's beating or utah's beating?

question: why is utah ranked? they don't have a single quality win, they don't have a win against a team that has a winning record.
re:Scott | 12:08 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Watch BYU and utah. It give you insight to the difference between a top twenty team, and a not top twenty team.
Moose on the Loose | 12:24 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
TCU you are the BEST!!!!!

Good luck in the BCS tournament!!!
NevadaCoug | 12:30 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
This is why they need, at the least, a "plus one" game. Match up TCU and Florida, Texas and Alabama. Take the winners of those two games and have them play each other.

Last year, it would have been Utah and Florida playing each other in the "plus one". What would it hurt?

But what we really need is a true playoff.
shecky | 12:50 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Say what you want. TCU is simply a great team. Time for a playoff.
TCU is Great! | 1:12 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
How do you know that the Frogs aren't the best team in the country?

Or Boise State?

Or Cincinnati?

How do you know that the real rankings shouldn't be:

#1 TCU
#2 Boise Stat
#3 Cincinnati
#4 Texas
#5 Alabama
#6 Florida

Fans who rank teams strictly by which conference a particular team is in...

are either biased or ignorant or both!

The truth is NOBODY knows which team would come out on top if the 6 undefeated teams were to play a round robin tournament.
Uts | 2:38 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
are not all that! Go FROGS!

How bout them VANDALS!!!!!
Sammy | 2:53 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
The conference is starting be respected. That is good.

TCU has a great team. We need them to blow up the BCS system because it is corrupt.

BYU is | 3:24 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
spoutin off about the UTES loss when they ought to be "shut" for their terrific play against UNM. BYU lost @ HOME to TCU by 31 points and were only able to score 7 points against the TCU "D" @ HOME! The UTES played on the road, lost by less points and scored 28 points against the TCU "D" in the TCU showcase game. If I was a Cougar I would keep it "shut" since the UTES will be coming to LES and you haven't "Put-Up" in your house all season long. In fact you ought to be worried about an AF team that can beat you very easily. Can't quit being arrogant @ the expense of sounding "uneducated" GO UTES!!!!
Re: Mike Johnson Fallon NV  | 3:56 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Yeah, that's what I thought... Utes and Cougars playing for second. However... look at how well Air Force played TCU and how well they are playing now! They could beat BYU and BYU could beat Utah... interesting huh?
Re: BYU is | 4:02 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
No, no... didn't you see the BYU thread? Those aren't the real numbers. You have to count the field goal TCU missed and count the interception in the end zone as TCU "leaving ten points on the field." We are not being honest if we don't count this as a 37 point loss. Oh, and I asked him if we have to pretend New Mexico left 11 points on the field (three field goals and two extra points) but that doesn't count. I think maybe because they are winless or something.

RE: BYU is

You are an idiot!!!
Re: Anynymous | 4:59 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
"You are an idiot!!!" Wow, impressive point. Good sound use of logic. Way to construct a case and make a point. Oh wait, name calling... you must be in grade school, right? At any rate, I'm sure you won over a lot of people with that comment. :)
Ute fan | 8:25 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
TCU beat us. They are a better team this year. They beat BYU. They are a better team this year and last year. It may be a few more years for Utah/BYU to figure out out to out play TCU. I hope Coach Witt cirles the date next year when they arrive in SLC. Let's start preppin for next year, right now. Just like TCU did to Utah in '09 and BYU in '08. I think we have a q-back for the next 3 years. He looked like Dalton 2 years ago.
Re: BYU is | 10:05 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Congrats on scoring 28 points. Never mind that TCU dropped a double nickel on your speedy D. This game was over in the first half. Trying to compare scores and games is rediculous. It doesn't matter what happens week to week, it only matters what happens on the 28th. BYU will spank AF because they match up a lot better with them. The only time they've had trouble with AF was during the Crowton years. It's going to be 6 straight this Sat. Good luck against SDSU.

does the trash talking between Ute fans and BYU fans ever stop if i remember right these games have never been decided on stats and are usually one of the best games of football to watch all year besides the BCS (Go Florida) so I would save your breath and see what happens when these two teams finally meet
