Ty's last a tie | 9:39 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Max deserves the record but it's too bad that Ty's last game as a Cougar ended in a tie with Iowa, especially on an intercepted pass.

Congrats to Hall. We've been fortunate to have him.

Hall is awesome. Great performance against New Mexico. I'm sure a lot sportswriters were paying attention to that great performance.
Y-Not | 12:01 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
I know BYU fans desperately need a hero but Max Hall is not it. He has not been nor will he be the quarterback and leader the Y had in Detmer. Hall is an average QB in an average conference. 29 wins, with over half coming from programs like New Mexico create a pretty weak resume come NFL draft day. Since BYU gets little respect around the country, they need to either drop the MWC and go independent, or just drop football and focus on their mission of god and education. All the records you can stack up don't mean much in the minor leagues. sorry.

He benefited from playing softer schedules and for playing more games than any quarterback, but he still is a loser. BYU great QBs made it to the NFL even though they played less games than Hall, their performances were way better that were on to being draft in the NFL. I've have been attending every BYU game at home, and everyone arounds me yell for him to be pulled out. He will be remember as the QB that couldn't compite against even or quality teams. Obviously those who support him are few and don't go or see the games, otherwise you have to be related to im not to realize how a loser he is. But it is not just him, the coaching staff where he gets support and inspiration from, are a bunch of loosers as well. The good news for next year is that Hall won't be the QB anymore, but the bad news is that Bronco and the rest of his staff are coming back. Since I'm still a BYU fan I still cheer "GO COUGARS", and thanks TCU for smashind Utah.

That great performance yesterday? That's funny.
Detmer Ruled | 2:45 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
As a Ute fan I have always had nothing but respect for McMahon, Young, and Detmer...Bosco was OK but not as impressive. Hall is hard to digest and I find it odd that Bronco is so loyal to him when he needs to be building up his team for the future and not kissing up to Hall...shows a little inability to adapt as a coach. Hall benefited by having great athletes around him

McMahon, Young and Detmer were amazing field generals that always stayed composed under pressure.

And to put it in perspective: Tebow had his 32nd win yesterday.

See ya in two weeks...but first you better tighten up for Air Force because they are pretty dynamic in their attack and they NEVER give up.

It's too bad that some of you Y fans don't appreciate success enven you are staring at a very successful program. Hall has helped BYU and get to where BYU is today. BYU is not an average team and is not in an average conference. The NFL is different from the days of Detmer and he spent most of his career on the bench. Hall has been a very efficient QB and is a hero to the BYU program. Stop whinning.
a red rat | 3:10 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Hey Utah posters, go nurse our own team. I won't take anything away from the New Mexico program. They played tough. You talk about them in the most trashy way. You have no class.

RE Halls*&$: You're pathetic and you aren't a cougar fan. Stop pretending to be one. You're all mad cause your team got whacked by TCU... If you're going to post with a fake name, at least be honest in your postings.
Kudos Hall | 3:12 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Way to go Hall! Great work and effort. Nothing like that comes easy. You deserve it.

I will always love the "Max Drive" against Oklahoma, that was awesome!

Perhaps Hall isn't the greatest quarterback ever, but he is a solid quarterback and has done some great things while at BYU. Those who think we would have won that many games are as uneducated as Bronco mentioned. And those calling for him to be pulled while in Cougar stadium should stay home and let true Cougar fans come to the games. I am sick of all the negativity and criticism. I hate losing as much as the next person, but booing your own team is as classless as it comes. I was in the stands for Detmer and for Hall. I think the schedules were pretty comparable. And our Heisman quarterback, who I thought was amazing by the way, played one of the worst games I ever saw against Hawaii after winning the trophy. Come on people!
Alaska Coug | 5:53 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Great job Max!! Congratulations. Detmer was one of the greatest college quarterbacks of all time and your record puts you up there with some of the greats. Don't listen to all of the whiny people on the blogs; they couldn't do what you've done on the best day of their life. Thanks for all of the great wins and the tough competitor you've been for BYU.
Houston Cougar | 9:39 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
TCU's footballers aren't any better than BYU's or Utah's, but they are better motivated. They ran through both Utah schools' football teams almost without slowing down - at least not until it was all but over.

Bronco Mendenhall doesn't seem to think that mental preparation is important. Spiritual yes, but not mental. Working harder and getting some emotion involved is all about mental preparation. All great leaders know this. By working harder you don't learn to run the plays any better, but you are training your mind. Some call it being in the zone. Urban Meyer knew this, his Utah teams showed it.
Glad Hall is a senior | 10:25 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Glad Max Hall career is over. Hall was an ok QB for BYU but always choaked when playing the big games. To be honest I will be glad to to see Hall graduate.
THEeyepatch | 7:42 a.m. Nov. 16, 2009
Shows how mediocre Ty was, did he really win a Heisman. Must of had some huge games against Wyoming. Well, at least Ty got to back up his brother Coy in the NFL.
Cougarf@n | 9:17 a.m. Nov. 16, 2009
The UNM game was pretty sad, but Hall's a very good QB. He's not in the top 3 of BYU quarterbacks (Young, McMahon, Detmer), but he's definitely in the top 10 and probably even the top 5. If he beats Utah this year he'll be 2-1 against ranked opponents. That said, I don't think of him as being NFL material. That's not a knock on him at all, Bosco and Sarkisian weren't NFL material either.

re: twoeyepatches | 10:16 a.m. Nov. 16, 2009
He had some even bigger games against Utah:

As a freshman in 1988, Ty shared quarterback duties with Sean Covey. In his first start against New Mexico, Ty and passed for 333 yards and 5 touchdowns in a 65-0 BYU victory. He was named Most Valuable Player of the 1988 Freedom Bowl, leading BYU to a come-from-behind 20-17 victory over Colorado.

Full-time starter - Nov 18, 1989 Utah 70-31
Heisman year - Nov 17, 1990 AT Utah 45-22
Senior year - Nov 23, 1991 Utah 48-17

UTE"FANS" (or Y-haters if you prefer) care more about the Y losing then utah wining because utah just lost to TCU.

Max has been great | 1:25 p.m. Nov. 16, 2009
He has done a fine job at BYU. Three very successful seasons. No, I don't consider him to be the best QB in BYU history, but I haven't decided who is the best QB in BYU history. But, you can mention him in the same sentence as Young, McMahon, Wilson, Nielson, Doman, Detmer, and Beck.

We have another great one coming - Jake Heaps. Jake threw seven touchdown passes - in the first half! in a state playoff game last weekend.

Have people forgotten that Max Hall has beaten utah and tcu...and OK and Oregon...who can forget his near perfect games against UCLA and Wyoming. Great job Max! Best wishes for the future
No big games for max huh? | 9:41 p.m. Nov. 16, 2009
What do you call Oklahoma, a 59-0 shellacking of UCLA, Utah on a fourth & 18, TCU...

I'm beginning to think that BYU has some of the worst fans in all of college football
Scott | 8:59 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
I think we have come to take for granted the great things Hall does. A couple years of Beck and three with Hall have really spoiled us fans. Complaining about a quarterback who averaged 10 wins a season while being tops nationally in many passing categories? Really? I think we are in for some major disappointment next year and in the years to come if you feel like we have had a bad QB the last few years. 10-win seasons don't come along every year.
