"His wife delivered, then so did George."

That right there is some gooood writing.
Just an opinion | 8:54 p.m. Nov. 14, 2009
How about "wanting to be there" for your son's first hours. That is a very special, spiritual, tender bonding time between husband/wife and baby.
As my kids have had to make decisions regarding sports and other events, if it's a once in a lifetime event then that comes first and they have not regretted it. Football, even in your senior year and with a touchdown just isn't that important.

But, most mothers and babies spend most of the first few hours after child birth sleeping, so that "special bonding period" that you so condescendingly pass judgement on, is mostly spent sleeping.

But, trust some holier than thou, self-righteous whiner to suggest that George was somehow neglecting his family.

Quite frankly, it's none of your business.

I have no doubts that the last thing George's wife would want would be for Andrew to miss one of the last games of his college career just so he could be around while she and baby were sleeping.

Sure it's important | 7:27 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
to be with your wife and child; he was. He did, and it's his call, his stewardship and his family. He also covered another important thing just fine. It's impressive that he made what appears to have been a good set of choices and experienced all of them. Sounds like he knows how to handle life to me - seems like a good set of calls Mr. George.

Congrats to the George family, and to the larger Cougar family as well.

Not sure the George's would care for your opinion, as opinions are just that. I am guessing Dad made it home pretty quickly after the game, and missed about 14 hours of that first day. Not so bad. I would bet it was a family decision, so let's stay out of it.

What I want to know is who paid for the extra plane tickets to and from Provo/SLC Int. The school can't...boosters cant....its hard to believe a married college student could. He did the right thing by attending his child's birth no question about that part of it. Just makes me wonder considering a last minute round trip flight isn't exactly cheap.

His parents could, his in-laws could, his uncle Benny could, any of his siblings or her siblings could, his best friend could, her maid of honor could, he could put it on a credit card. There are a myriad of ways it could be paid for. So quit being stupid.

I heard Tim Tebow and a few other players flew on a private plane, separate from the rest of the team when Tebow was experiencing swine flu symptoms.

Who paid for that?

And, Mr. hmmmm, are you an expert on NCAA rules?

If not, how do you know that the school couldn't pay for the extra plane tickets?

to hmmmm:

Not very good in our reading comprehension, are we?!?

Right there in the article, set off as a separate, one line paragraph, as a matter of fact, it says,

"George said he paid for the roundtrip ticket from Albuquerque to Salt Lake City."
