It was difficult to suffer through all the trash talk and smack through out the season, with out firing back. but these men demonstrated on the field who the true champions are. The cheap talk is over and the Broncos are state champions. Way to go guys. San Juan Broncos: 2009 2A Football State Champions!
Re: San Juan Fan | 9:11 p.m. Nov. 14, 2009
I'm sure you did your share of smack talking throughout the season. You did not hold back I'm sure. But as well San Juan did prove that. Good job to the players that was an intense game all the way through.. very hard fought battle. It was a game on both sides of the ball. South summit fought very hard and never gave up but mistakes cost everything. Good luck to the seniors

It was a great game, very intense. It was a game of the winner scoring early and then holding on through the weather. He who normally commits the most turnovers loses.

RE: Durango | 3:43 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Durango lost their last three games and were actually not very good. the Broncos are still kicking themselves for letting that game get away. but it doesent matter now. great season San Juan.

Congrats to San Juan from an "Old Red Devil" (Moab). San Juan is an old fashioned sports loving town. Year in and year out they produce great teams in many sports--likely produce the best teams in the state given their small student body. Ask all the larger schools in the Four Corners area and they will tell you that little town really puts out some great "teams". I can only think that they are suppported well by a great community.
Broncos for Life | 9:16 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Great year for the Broncos. This group of kids deserved it. A lot of the starters this year were starters last year and they were distraught after last year going undefeated and losing in the semis. Those kids were determined from that point on to win the championship. They put the time in the weight room, running the hills and being a team. They wouldnt accept anything less than a championship. This will be a year to remember for a long time. Unbelieveable dedication and heart in the offseason made this moment happen. San Juan Football is where its at.
San Juan Broncos | 9:39 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Hey all of you 2A teams and fans. Is San Juan so predictable? Im not sure. Can somebody tell if we are predicatable. Did we get beat in the playoffs? As far as I know we won the 2A state championship. I could have sworn somebody said we were too predictable. Can someone also remind me of any 2A team in Utah who beat us this year. This should silecnce the critics. San Juan is going to enjoy this for a year. The hard work will continue come monday. We will start hitting the weights, running the hills and be ready for football in about 8 months when conditioning starts up. Can wait for next year. Go Broncos. 2009 STATE CHAMPS.
Hey Big Green Tractor | 11:20 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
Well San Juan shut out South Summit in the championship just like they did to you guys in 2006. Defense is whats wins championships. San Juan knows that for sure. We are going to enjoy this. San Juan for life. Go blue and gold or go home. Cant wait for next year.
To South Summit | 8:49 a.m. Nov. 16, 2009
There you go South Summit. You guys got a shot against us on a neutral field and you still couldnt make it happen. Im not going to lie it feels great to beat you guys again. All the talk is settled and now that the dust has settled. The Broncos are the champs again. Kiss the rings 2A!
Bronco Fan | 9:06 a.m. Nov. 16, 2009
That was a great game played in real football weather. Thanks to all the coaches and players for putting on a great show. South Summit should not hang their heads after that one. That was a great defensive battle for both teams. These were the two best defenses in 2A and it showed on Saturday. Thanks to both teams for showing great class and sportsmanship. It really makes it worth watching. While I am a San Juan fan I would have to say that after two great battles with South Summit I am a fan of their program. They played with great pride and sportsmanship and we appreciate the great battles we have had this year. Best of luck to them in the future and congrats to Broncos.

Thanks San Juan for the great year. We enjoyed watching these boys become men on their journey. Enjoy your championship season and best of luck next year!

I am a Bronco fan and I'm not sure if some of these posts are really made by Blanding people but if so I would be apologizing for them. We want to think of ourselves as good winners, not smack talkers. We kept pretty much to ourselves through out the playoffs while JD and the boys had their day in the sun. Let's continue to show muturity and just enjoy the moment. Good job Broncos and Cats.

To bad the weather was so bad, didn't really get to see either offense perform to their levels. Who knows if the outcome would have been different. To whoever posted that being the second best team out of San Juan History wasn't around with the other two teams that beat us in 1998 & 2000 because both those teams were better then the one that just won. They had better all around athletes and the size of the players aren't even comparable to the team that just won state. However, congratualtions on a great season! Hopefully we can get you next year.
To SS Fan | 1:10 p.m. Nov. 16, 2009
I am a Bronco fan and i agree with you. Not taking anything away from this 2009 team. They had a great year and this is definately a prized moment in San Juan Football history. I think the 1998 and 2000 teams just had a little more depth and top to bottom a little bit better. The 2006 and 2009 teams I think are identical. They both had a great run game. Had three different backs that they could go to. They could throw the ball if they needed to. Bottom line is the defense won the games for them. Im loving that the gold is back in Blanding where it belongs.
SS CLASS.. | 2:03 p.m. Nov. 16, 2009
Yes we have SJ figured out and will stomp them on Saturday. We know they will try some trick play but our defense is way to good to be fooled. We will be waiting and destroy SJ. Like I said before it will be a blowout. SS 48 SJ 6. Holliday won't even get past the line of scrimage agianst us our defense will own SJ.

How does it feel?

Way to go Broncos!!
The team of 2006 | 3:44 p.m. Nov. 16, 2009
This years team may have been good, and possibly one of the best teams from SJ..but one of the other best group of players was the 2006 team..they all had the heart of CHampions..just something went wrong at the end...But again GOod Job Broncos!
RE: SS CLASS | 3:50 p.m. Nov. 16, 2009
I doubt that this statement was made by a wildcat. Congrats to both teams. As both teams proved that the best was in the East. However, next year is another year. Ya it hurts a bit to lose, but someone had to. It was settled on the field, and we came up a bit short. Too bad the field was so slippery in the second half, but that is game day for ya. We wont hang our heads at all, we will be back next year for another shot. Thanks for a great half a game anyway, the second half just as well have been ice hockey

RE: 2A | 5:15 p.m. Nov. 16, 2009
Obviously you care or you wouldn't be commenting. Please quit with the bigger schools are better thing. These young men worked just as hard or if not harder than the kids from the big schools. Most of the players in 1 and 2A play offense, defense and special teams. They play their hearts out for 48 minutes each game not 20 like big school players. Of course the best from 1 and 2A would probably lose to the best from 4 and 5A, but small schools don't recruit like those schools. You are comparing apples to oranges. As we saw this year some of those supposed great teams couldn't even come close to a mediocre Texas team. The bottom line is, if you are just going to try and belittle these teams for playing the schools that are in their classification then just don't read the articles on these schools and don't make any childish comments. Both of these teams worked very hard to get to this game and it is unfortunate that one team had to lose. Congratulations to the 2A State Football Champion San Juan Broncos!

Football is over rated anyway....Basketball is the real sport and we all know that South Sevier will bring home the golden trophy, and once again the paper tigers of San Juan won't even make it to state.
Go RAMS Basketball! Bishoff and Blackburn are unstoppable!

this post is authorized!
RE: JD Books | 11:21 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009
Ya right JD. Good try at covering up your deep depresion over the demise of your Rams. We all know that football is your favorite. You said in a post a while back that football is your favorite and you don't really care for basketball that much. Have you learned nothing from the past few months? Maybe you should just be quite and let the young men go out and decide these things on the field, in the gym or on the mat.

You sound just like the kind of fan that I thought you would be. Fair weather! Don't diminish what those young men accomplished this year. That was one of the best seasons ever for South Sevier.

I wish all the teams the best of luck as basketball season starts. May the best team win. Play your best and leave no regrets.

"As we saw this year some of those supposed great teams couldn't even come close to a mediocre Texas team"

Are you talking about Bingham playing Trinity with TX officials and TX rules? Bingham did not play well and were pretty dinged up from the Alta game the week before. Did you really call Trinity mediocre? You are clueless!

Trinity is a TX and National powerhouse. Most of last year they were ranked #1 in the country. They have won 2 out of the last 4 5A titles in TX. They have so many 5A teams, they split it into 2 divisions. They split with Allen 5A1 champs last year. This year they are #11 in TX and still in the playoffs. There are over 1,500 HS football teams in TX. 250 5A I believe. How do you figure they are mediocre? They lost close games to Cedar Hill #3 by ESPN and Allen, last year's 5A champ. They have scored 49,55,42,62,72 in their last 5 games. Mediocre?
