The reporter needs to check her facts. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is not a risk for colon cancer. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is. They are not the same thing and should not be used interchangeably. The two forms of IBD are Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. If you have either of those, the recommended colonoscopy schedule is every two years.

my husband is eighty one yrs old. Although he has never had a problem whenever he had a colonoscopy in the past, his brother did have colon cancer. He is scheduled for a colonoscopy and his doctor told him that if he did find something at his age he would not do anything. Threee years ago he almost dies of an Pseudomonous infection caused by an epidural. My concerns are should he have this colonoscopy
