BYU football: Phhheeew! Team happy to escape with victory

According to BYU fans (including Dick Harmon) TCU "outplayed" Utah in 2008. Never mind that fact that BJ drove on the mighty TCU defense for a last minute winning touchdown, Utah only won becasue of 2 TCU missed filed goals.
End of 3rd
BYU 24
UNM 13
But, New Mexico has missed 2 field goals + extra point.
At least now Zoobs won't bring up the 2008 TCU game and missed field goals. UNM missed 2 field goals and 1 extra point.
And how Utah is mediocre and hasn't played beat anyone good.
7-2 BYU 24
0-8 UNM 19
The silence is PRICELESS!!!
Air Force and Utah are next.
Bronco: "Two teams fighting hard... it was great college football game"
Two teams more like half a team, UNM is not a football team and your only half a team when we get spanked at home twice.
Let the excuses begin!
And BYU expects to play in a BCS bowl game someday? Get real!
Keep your expectations more realistic and enjoy your stay in Las Vegas...
BYU 24
Isn't this the logic Zoob fans are using about Utah and TCU? The difference, that we can all agree, was that #7 TCU was much better last year.
In any other conference, they would probably be 3 and 7 at this point.
Did New Mexico lose this game more than BYU won it?
Did New Mexico outplay BYU?
Did BYU get lucky because NM missed two field goals and a PAT?
Just wondering....
Can't wait to see how WhineU fans spin this win.
Is any win uglier than this one?
By all purposes, this should be a UNM win --they missed 2 FGs & 1 PAT by hitting the upright. For the WhineU fans who aren' math guys, that is 7 points --the final should have been 26-24 UNM
All I want is consistency! Play up to your potential! This goes for the coaches and players! I would rather us beat teams by a touchdown than blowing them out one game and struggling so bad the next.
Inconsistency is BYU's terminal illness...
Moral victories (losses) don't taste better than winning games like this. Good teams fight through bad efforts. Take those ugly wins, boys!
I imagine the practices will be a bit challenging this week...coaches will not be happy.
Win.
We didn't lose the Idaho or SW Baptist.
Enough Said.
Oh that's funny.
BYU should have lost to a horrible UNM but for a horrible kicker.
Really?
BYU's offensive play calling was uninspired and sooooo predictable...!
Disappointing....same pattern as the past few years, almost a tradition?
Oh well, what do I know.....just been watching this same pattern for years.
After this embarrasment of a football game, it will be kind of funny for me to see all the Yewts who have been championing the "a win is a win" motto all year now try an talk smack about BYU's ugly win. They'll have to change their monikers, but they'll still be all over this board. Bring on the hypocrites!
Wow.
Top-25 team, BYU is not.
The MWC has really 3 classes:
Class 1: Excellent football teams: Utah, TCU
Class 2: Good/Better than Average: AFA
Class 3: no description needed: BYU, UNM, Wyo, UNLV, SDSU, CSU
YBU 24 UNM 19
Utah is 26 points better than YBU.
Sincerely,
Cougie Fan Logic,
Talking last week about Wyoming games
See any similarity between BYU/NM and last years Utah/TCU game? (aside from the fact that TCU was ranked 12th and NM is ranked somewhere around 112th)
This is football... not basketball.
The oblong one... not the round one.
However, using the logic of Ute fans, just scraping by the skin of your teeth against bad teams is the mark of a BCS-caliber program.
But of course the Cougars aren't quite as "good" as the Utes are, because they didn't need three gimme turnovers to come from behind to beat a bottom-feeding team in the fourth quarter, like the Utes did against CSU.
And it is interesting to see now how quickly the Ute fans have abandoned the "a win is a win" philosophy they have clung to all season, and now recognize that a team which needs its opponent to miss two field goals to win is simply lucky, and not necessarily good.
One game? You struggled in one game? I'd say you've struggled in three. FSU blowout, TCU blowout, and UNM squeaker.
Before the TCU game he was impressed and pleased how well the practices went. This week he said the practices and preparedness was even better than what he saw for TCU.
Bronco is worth keeping for sure!
