Nice start to the season | 12:34 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
A solid win over a 20-win team from last season to open the MWC-MVC series.

Shooting was a little off, but good all-around play from a lot of players. BYU is going to have a very deep bench this season.

J.T. though colorful needs still needs to be more diligent in shot selection and shooting percentage. He certainly is never shy about tossing bricks along with winners.

The article reads "and the Cougars never trailed again." I don't believe a tied score means they were trailing.

Good start | 8:05 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Nice opening win for the Cougars. They still need alot of improvement before conference play begins, but this is going to be a fun team to watch.

Haws and Davies are going to be great additions to the team.

Good luck Coach Rose!

We're glad you're back and healthy!

Go Cougars! Maybe you can beat the Frogs and the Utes this year and earn back some of the respect the footballers lost.
Not Pretty | 8:17 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Well, it wasn't pretty but an ugly win is better than getting beat by a WAC team (see, e.g., Utes).

What no comments about the Cougs big win? Guess the Cougar faithful are more interested in trashing the Utes than in complimenting their own team.
JT needs to stop forcing shots | 9:15 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
As much as I like Jonathan Tavernari's game, I hate it when he forces shot after shot on the nights that he isn't hitting. He missed 8 bad shots in a row to start the game. When he gets his feet set and has time to take quality shots, they go in, but wait for good shots to come around, rather than rushing a shot that isn't open!!!

Brock Zylstra also failed to score and he failed to get in the game.
Continued Concern About JT | 9:36 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
JT was something like 5 for 18. If we hadn't gotten such a good game from Fredette and gritty hustle from so many others, JT may have shot us out of this game. Is there a player on our team that couldn't have put up 18 shots and made at least 5 of them? I know JT has evolved into a nice rebounder and decent passer and can get on serious rolls but I would like to see him limit his shots to around 10 a game unless he is just on fire. Too many weapons on this team for JT to keep shooting even when they are not going in. Fredette is simply unstoppable. He can get to the basket at will and should average 10 free throws a game. I love his game. We have some very nice young players who will play big roles all season. And our bigs by committee will be much more productive than Miles playing 40 minutes himself.
4 in a Row | 10:42 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Off to a good start for a 4th conference title in a row.
No Ute fans? | 11:05 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Congratulating the Y on a win against a 20 win program? That's right, the F-zone was too busy sulking from the beatdown the Vandals put on U.

F=Failure

go yewts! Good luck against TCU...this is a tough weekend to be wearing red.
Nice | 11:49 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
to see the loss to Idaho has kept the ute snitters at bay!
Glimpse of the future | 12:15 p.m. Nov. 14, 2009
I think you got a sort of glimpse into the future watching Haws and Davies last night. They are great recruits and will add to the team even this year. Dave Rose has this team, with his recruiting, where he just needs to plug in the next person. It must be a challenge however, keeping everyone happy when the first twelve at BYU would start at most colleges. It is always nice to be a cougar, but its especially nice when we win.
not a j.t. fan  | 3:29 p.m. Nov. 14, 2009
same old story j.t. will either shot you in or shot you out of a ball game. not only does he shoot every time he gets the ball ,but his defence stinks hope coach rose can fix this before conference play.now to the worst traffic control Ive ever witness.where were the campus police? a four way stop at the bottom of the street.no wonder people start leaving with ten minutes left in the game
Huge JT fan | 8:57 a.m. Nov. 16, 2009
That was just one game, JT will be a star this season, mark my words. We need him!
JT is overrated | 8:22 p.m. Nov. 16, 2009
All last season I couldn't stand watching JT. He plays terrible defense and he is a liability many times on offense. But last year there was no one to replace him. We had to accept that he player awful defense (anyone can see that) and shot to much. It was a joke when he decided to try to go to the NBA.

However, this year we have a bench. Brandon Davies should be started over JT. He looked very impressive during the Bradley game. His only problem is that he is a little too aggressive which cause the refs to want to call more fouls on him.
