This has been a good beginning to a horrible weekend for the Yewts.

Go TCU!

BYU | 10:05 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Great win to open the season again utah LOL. Good luck winning 10 games this year, and try to score against TCU tomorrow? haha

This was a pathetic game. The Utes looked terrible. As I said before, last year was a fluke. Now, we are starting to see Boylan's recruits and "his" team.

Utah State won't bet any easier and looking at the next few weeks, things could get very ugly here.

I an sure your feeling a little Blue. Hire a winner ibn Roger Reid. He will get you 20 wins every year.
Preview | 10:14 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Verlin was Stew's right hand man for years.

Verlin learned everything about coaching from Stew Morrill.

Verlins is as much a Stew clone as Randy Rahe at Weber State is.

All 3 men are darn good basketball coaches.

Expect the game vs the aggies to be a repeat of this one.

It's OK, Utes. Next week you get to play Utah State - that will be kind of like your Super Bowl
Mike Sorenson | 10:20 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Yes, this was a very talented Idaho team. They may even win third place in their league.

Idaho is in the Big 12, right?
Idaho | 10:24 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
just won the "Super Bowl"!!!
You keep Boylan | 10:25 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
We have Rose. You can keep Boylan.

By the way, I understand from my friends in Idaho that the Idaho Vandals are a national power this year with a real chance to go to the final 4. So don't hang your head too low little brother. No one expected you to win this one anyway.

for an exciting weekend for the Utes!

Vandalized and Horned!

Boylen is an amazing coach...
OH MY GOODNESS | 10:37 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
IDAHO? GIVE ME A BREAK!

At least Idaho is better than Southern Baptist. :-)
Anonymous | 10:44 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I HATE BOYLEN....HE IS HORRIBLE....wake up Chris Hill....the guy is awful. Just down right ridiculous, FIRE BOYLEN.
So Sweet | 10:49 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Gotta love Idaho. This is sweet.
The Real USU | 10:49 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
LOL!!! Utah tries to emulate the magic of the Spectrum and lose on their first try...coach V still has it!!!! Now hopefully you Utah losers understand that the WAC is the superior basketball conference. Nice work embarrassing in their house of shame...next up USU will need to go in there and make them cry...
Ogden Aggie | 10:51 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Idaho is no cakewalk with the Ex-Aggie Assistant Don Verlin at the helm. The guy can flat out coach. Great win for the WAC. Hope the Aggies can reapeat the performance next Wednesday. Go State!
Idaho... | 10:55 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
is a far superior team from a state with multiple teams that dine on ute meat!
Anonymous | 11:01 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I like Boylen. I hope he succeeds and brings the fans back to the Hunty.

But there can be no excuses, he has GOT to win games like this one.
WAC and MWC | 11:05 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I am not going to be the irrational fan that jumps on here and says the WAC is better than the MWC, however I am also not Cougar fan who thinks the MWC is a top tier conference either. Truth is the conferences are pretty close in talent level as Idaho, Boise and Nevada all have great athletes. USU doesn't really have the athletes but rather system players that fit well into our system.

Poing being Idaho dropping 94 on the defending MWC tourney champ certainly sends a statement. I mean Idaho is good but it is basically the same team that finished as the 4th or 5th seed in the WAC last year.

Nice win for Verlin-like Coach V. He is actually a better recruiter than Stew, but when it comes to X's and O's few are better than Stew.

Great night for WAC, Verlin and Ags!
Humble Pie | 11:08 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Utah women lose to Utah State in basketball

Utah men lose to Idaho State in basketball

at this rate, there may not be any humble pie left for the Utah football team

Then lose in the post season. Thanks but no thanks. Similar to your football team.
Anonymous | 11:36 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Idaho is a decent team, I think they will take 2nd in the Wac this year, and I would not be suprised if Utah was preparing for USU a little early. I wouldn't blame them at all. The aggies are tough, and I feel they horrible tonight, so if the aggies don't change things then Utah Has a chance.
Tommy T. | 11:41 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
there was WAY too MUCH hype at the start of this season. Boylen was talking a lot and that blue print article was sick...just sick. you have to put up winds before you say you are back. this is going to be a long ugly season if this is the team we have.
GIVE UTES SOME CREDIT | 11:48 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Idaho is a very strong team yhis year. I thought we played very hard tonight. People in Idaho sure knew they would win. IDAHO is a top 50 team!
wonderful night of basketball | 12:07 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Yes. BYU wins. The Jazz win. And the Utes lose at home to Idaho. Cheer up Ute fans. The freshmen showed some promise. Something good to hold onto.
Ute fans are lame | 12:11 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Only 8000 attendance? BYU had 16,000+ tonight. What is wrong with Ute fans? They are total fair weather fans.
Where's the MUSS??? | 1:00 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
I thought they changed the seating. Come on, since when don't these gimmicks work.

I would like to give props to the Utah fan that posted anonymous earlier. It proves that there is at least one Utah fan out there that is just not an anti BYU fan.
re: lame | 1:10 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
What else is there to do in Provo on a Friday night? Of course, there will be 16,000 fans there. You can only watch reruns of "Johnny Lingo" so many times.
From a Aggie  | 1:24 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Ute Fans are far better then BYU fans... Just ask your football team.
Really  | 1:46 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009

Isn't there something about a bunch of people in a great and spacious building. Pointing and Laughing?? How does that go??
Vandals | 1:47 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
I-D-AHO IDAHO IDAHO GO GO GO What a great start for the Vandals. They're going to be a top contender in WAC this year. Proud to be wearing the Silver and Gold!!!!
Laugh a bit harder BYU fans | 1:48 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Keep laughing BYU fans this not even close to the beating your going to get in Logan from another "crappy WAC" team.
Boylen can coach | 2:48 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Not really a Ute fan (and not a hater) but by the end of last season he had his team playing really well and besides getting a little over-emotional, he seems a great coach. I think next year is the one where his team better improve. Do U. fans expect to get another Rick Maj? Because you will not.
Isn't it sad......... | 3:47 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
That cougar fans biggest joy comes from big brother losing! I guess when a program hasn't won a NCAA tournament game in nearly 20 years and has a total of 11 tournament wins in the programs history, it's more fun to take a jab at their highly successful big brother.

Same with football, cougar fans hatred toward Utah's BCS success will have them tuning in cheering for TCU tomorrow evening. It's sad when you have more joy with big brother losing than with your own team winning.

Hmmmmmm, wasn't hatred a topic of discussion just a month ago in conference?
Eugene | 4:19 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Coach Boylen has not shown the maturity needed to be a long time winning coach for the Utes. It is difficult to cultivate any respect for a coach who rants, raves, throws tantrums, and looks to not have recruited well.

I hope I'm wrong, but there looks to be a lot of growing up to do.

Then there is the Cougar's Coach Rose that embodies a winning attitude, recruits well, and earns the respect of players, fans and peer coaches.

Different styles, different results. Coach Rose has got it right.
Section F | 5:40 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
It looks like putting Section F behind our opponnents' bench didn't help much.

Where is the Muss when you need it?
More proof | 5:40 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
that Utes are bandwagon fans. 8k in attendance and it's going to get even worse as their sorry team keeps losing. Pathetic bandwagoners.
Anonymous | 6:28 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
For all the BYU fans ha ha and hee hee talk, win a tournament game before you laugh.
Cut them some Slack! | 6:30 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Everyone knew this was a rebuilding year with all the lost talent. There is a reason everyone picked the Utes to be in the middle of the conference this year! Quit crying, remember when the Utes lost the first game to crap team last year and then went on to beat top 25 teams, win the conference and go to the tourney!!! That proves Boylen is a good coach, so let him coach these young and new players into a good team again this year and more so next year without ragging on the guy and calling for his head! How would you like people blogging about firing you when you have 1 bad day!
Boylen | 6:31 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
no fan of a loud mouth coach
Anonymous | 7:21 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Go VANDALS!!!
Anonymous | 7:29 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Easy foks, Utah was only favored by 12 points; so this wasn't that much of an upset!!!! Utah has got to win these early games to show the world how great Boylen is. GO TCU!!!!!!!!
Anonymous | 7:36 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Can't wait for Wed. Go Aggies. I am sure Stew and Verlin will talk this weekend and will have a great game plan put togrther. Get ready utah grey hairs to have the chemical dome taken over by the blue!
Joe Vandal | 7:37 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
I-D-A-H-O, IDAHO IDAHO, GO GO GO!!!

Hey Utah, chalk it up to Friday the 13th!!! Go Cougars!!!!!!
Reason | 8:01 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Boylen didn't scream enough. I'm certain if he had screamed louder the outcome would have be different.
Patience | 8:17 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
And what did you expect in a first game for a young team? Boylen will have the last laugh on the 1 game losers posting here.
