Too bad the PC Coach blew if for them when he didn't try for the 2 FG's later in the game that would of gave PC the win "Greedy"!

Another group of Park City players learns an important life lesson- money can't buy everything. Teach 'em coach. Maybe talk a little about attitude and behavior while you're at it.

Will this win earn any respect from Northern Utah for Southern Utah teams? Probably not!

Karma??? Park City | 2:15 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I guess running it up on everyone all year does not really count when they hand out the state championship. Maybe instead of running the score up in the 4th quarter you should put in younger players to give them experience.

Big ups to H-town.get em boys.hold it down for the south baby.
Observation... | 2:24 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Not a fan of either school, but followed 3A football throughout the season. I saw this coming a mile away. Park City has by far the most talent of any team in 3A, but the lack of discipline and focus cost them this game. Not from a penalty standpoint, but from the way the coaches and players project themselves on the field. Watched them crush other teams throughout the year and the coaches coached and players were playing as if they were behind. It is one thing to demand that when the score is close, but to maintain that type of emotion is almost impossible during a game little own an entire season. Too much pressure on 16-17 year old kids. Too bad for the team, coaches and community. Hard to lose when you know you have the talent to win a State Championship. Better luck next year.
Yeahh!! | 2:30 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Hurrican deserves this !!! Great Job Coach and Players..

Nice job guys. You did it. Next week will be big. I wish you luck and thanks for a great season. So much fun to watch. Keep working hard. Don't let up.

Dear JD Fan,

Show a little class. Most of the kids on the PC team don't come from wealthy families. The last time I looked JD is a private school and PC is not.

Now, the coach will understand that keeping the starters in to run up points will eventually run the players down in time for when it counts. Your lack of experience as a coach hurt you when in counted.
Hurricane going to finals | 2:39 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Good job Hurricane, Now lets remember what Juan Diego did to us last year!
joe | 2:41 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Great comments guys. You are both 100% correct. They have great boosters, weight room, football facilities, great field, TV coverage for all games, and they continue to choke in the playoffs. I personally think they need a new coach. Not attempting one FG all season and then when you need it you don't take the points. Just terrible coaching. Take a look back at Park City vs. Logan game a couple years ago @ Logan. Blocked punt for Logan wins the ballgame and sends Park City to another playoff loss.
One last thing. Schedule tougher preseason road games against 4A schools and it will help you.
PC Watcher | 2:43 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Such a great example that athletic talent and "the horses" does not beat out classy coaching and doing things the right way. I knew that personal fouls and poor coaching would come back to not only haunt PC but doom them. I can't think of a better coach to have this happen to. Brandon and his assistants are classless to put it as nice as I can. On the flip side, Homer and staff are very classy.
As I see it, PC got what they deserve and so did Hurricane. When athletes are not only allowed to be unsportsmanlike, they are coached to be that way, it could not be more evident. PC has never had the discipline win the championship and they never will under Mr. Classless himself. Sure they had the talent and athletes but not the discipline. Brandon goes like gangbusters in the regular season but when push comes to shove (play-offs) he does not have the foundation to win it.
Congrads to the Tigers and even better than the win is doing it the right way.
Re: JD Fan | 2:43 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I find it ironic that a JD fan is telling Park City kids about money and life lessons. Isn't the reason your kid is in a private school is because of money? Private schools are the scourge of high school sports. I hope Hurricane wins, if for no other reason than for this comment made by JD.
JD | 2:45 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Congrats to Hurricane! You are a worthy adversary, you play with class, last year as well as what I've seen this year...

JD Fan??? | 2:48 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Are you kidding me?? This coming from a JD fan? Insert JD for Park City and the same could be said about JD.

PC Fan | 2:53 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Now do you understand that it will hurt you in the long run when you keep you starters in to run up stats to make you (Coach) look good? It eventually will take its toll on the players, Injuries etc. The stats looked good up until now when it counted. Perhaps the admin should consider another option for a coach.
PC Playoff Choke | 3:03 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Another year, another choke for PC. This one was all on the coaches. This a talented team. Hurricane adjusted after the first quarter and PC did not. Matich should take the heat for this one. They thought they could run over and around Hurricane and Hurricane stepped up and hit them right in the mouth. Sorry PC, I was routing for you guys. You deserved to be in the finals this year. Everyone takes cheap shots at PC but there are some good kids on this team.
Eagle Fan | 3:04 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Guess Hurricane got a hold of the PC playbook...because as PC likes to whine, that's the only way anyone can beat them!
Football Fan | 3:12 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I agree with everything that has been said so far. Park City acted all year like they were the chosen ones. They need to be more like Hurricane or Juan Diego, both classy schools, and try being humble in victory. To trash talk week in and week out was only going to come back and bite them eventually. Wasatch is not any better. They also tryed running up scores to make them look like a powerhouse. Both teams should be watching and wondering what if when Juan Diego & Hurricane play for the title next week. Congrats to Juan Diego & Hurricane!
All I can say is........ | 3:23 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. What happened Coach M. did your starters get tired? Idiot.
JD Fan not reall a JD fan. | 3:44 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I think it is obvious that JD Fan is not a real JD fan at all, just someone trying to make them look bad. Congratulations to Hurricane on making to the finals again. That was a great title game last year and I expect the same this year. Good Luck to both teams, and let's keep everyone healthy.
Judge Parent | 3:45 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
As a father who has a son playing for Judge, please do not lump all private or Catholic schools together and associate them with some kind of wealth status. That is far from the broadbrushed stamp many of you claim to go hand-in-hand. As far as the earlier comment of Northerners giving the Southern teams respect, you earned ours first-hand when we lost to you last year in the quarters. Amongst all the talk about how strong region 11 was, I always thought Hurricane (albeit under the northern radar) was probably a team that would make it back to the finals. Great coaching, efficiency in both offense and defense, playing in a combined 3A/4A region, no single name performers, but steady weapons that no team can collectively key on. Quite frankly, a model which other programs should emulate. Should be a great championship game next week.. Good luck to both teams.
ahhhh. | 3:54 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
tough loss PC. you guys had a great year and wish I could see you play in the finals.

good luck to the kids moving on. keep your heads up.
Juan Diego Santiago | 4:01 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Congrats Hurricane Tigers! Now you get a rematch with the UNIVERISTY of Juan Diego. It will be a good game and the JD has the best team that money can buy. I know for a fact there are athletes on the JD football team that cannot afford to go to JD, but they are given 'scholarships'. If they didn't have athletic talent they wouldn't get a dime from JD or its boosters. Well, it will be a good game anyway. Line 'em up and lets get after it.

Congratulations TIGERS!!! I commend you guys. Great players...great boys...great coaches..great T E A M!!!
That's why we won..we play as a team! It will be a great game next week! I know we have what it takes to take state! GOOOOOOO T*I*G*E*R*S!!!! It has been so much fun watching you this year!
minerfan | 4:04 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Congrats Tigers you earned your win. It sure is frustrating watching Park City do the same crap every year. Very good coaching Tigers!. Run blitzes are wonderful huh! Park City needs a complete change and start with a coach that has class and will not put up with any kind of bad sportsmanship, then build from there. We have the worst immage in the state. Start with class and effort and good things will come. The best of luck to the Tigers next week.
C | 4:14 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I think Park City running backs were tired from trying to boost their RPI. I love to see a player that bangs their chest and pushes other team's coaches play such a critical part in Park City's loss. Way to go #3. Your coach, players, and community have no idea as to what class is. Upper class is not the definition of class.
hurricanes #2 fan! | 4:17 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Take down Juan Diego! It's our year! It was a great game today and you all played with with class!
talking no class? | 4:29 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Look at what you all are saying right now. PC gave hurricane a great game and they had a great season. The PC players did nothing classless all game. they pump there chest when they get excited, who doesn't. thats being classless when you show passion for the game. stop giving PC crap, because they are a good team and they earned alot of respect this season
Anonymous | 4:29 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Park City reminds me very much of the University of Miami teams from the late 80's/early 90's, minus the titles of course. No one wants to share a field with these guys, win or lose.
parkcity | 4:32 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
What do we really want to teach our kids to prepare them for life. I personally think big changes are needed. It is possible to have a great TEAM without being classless. Listen to all our opponents, not much good to say. The spoiled rich kid image begins with parents and coaches. Please find someone to coach us the right way, our kids will be better people because of it.
re:C | 4:42 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I agree totally as a PC fan I am embarrased by this, but do understand not all of us are like that. The upper class don't have alot of respect for other people most of the time. Don't lump us all together alot of us want major changes.

Hurricane's only 3A loss so far was to a second year school. Desert Hills. I'm looking forward to that rematch next year.
Region 10 | 5:59 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
They say what goes around comes around, in the case of HHS beating PCHS Coach Maddog of PCHS is and has been using questionable behaviors at best during games all year. When his players commit personal fouls during the season high fives are handed out along with chest bumps. this is typical PCHS b.s. When #3 did it again today during the game he was showing he was taking on the coaches personality. Bet on PCHS to make an early exit from the tournamnet until the head coach is replaced with someone who respects the game, oppoenents and officials.
Weird? | 6:00 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I believe the way Hurricane played against the Thunder, they were looking ahead rather than focusing on DHHS
3a watcher | 6:01 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
No dought in my mind that pc is a better team then hurricane but hurricane played tough, never gave up. This was park city's game to win but it wasent the poor coaching it was the fact that Coach M wants to run the ball way to much. I know he always says we do what we do best but you cant win a game when the defense knows there going to give the ball chynoweth. The reason the put 14 points on the board so quickly in the first quarter was because they mixed up running and passing. The Rumor on the street is that coach m wants to leave and go to a 4a school well to be honest who wants to run Triple Option. I dont think anyone will want coach m after this game. once again another blown season with pc with great talent not being able to capitalize in the playoffs. 104 years with out a state championship
Pc | 6:10 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Coach Matich has done incredible things for the park city football program. To say what has been said on everyone of these comments is classless Park City and hurricane both played great today. Even though matich made some mistakes, he is still one of the best coaches in the state, bar none.
PC needs a change... | 6:10 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Hurricane is a solid football team and I am glad they took it to Park City. Although I think Juan Diego will win the Championship, Hurricane will certainly play JD better than PC could have.

I agree with most of these posters. Park City needs to make some changes in that program. It is obvious those kids don't respect their Coaches and it is time for a change. It just shows you that talent alone won't get it done. You have to have someone who can educate and motivate. PC does not have that!
ha ha  | 6:26 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Karma, we all watched PC'S players and coaches act they way they did all year long from there coaches picking fight with other coaches, picking fights with the home teams chain gang, to there players pushing other teams coaches to them running up the score and keeping there starters in well into the 4th quarter. What happened today is called Karma Coach Maddog when will you figure it out, the PC kids deserve better, the PC fans should be upset and i am glad to see that they are tired of Coach Maddogs leadership it is really sad and please try to remember Maddog the game isn't about you its about the kids, you and you asstistant coaches should be ashamed of the way you handled yourself today and through out the year. KARA MADDOG KARMA.
weird?? | 6:34 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
ok so you beat HHS, what happen to DHS in the playoff ??????????
pc player | 6:38 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
ok i personal played this game and i know what went down. this was the most class of a game. the hurricane guys were helping the park city guys up and the pc guys were helping the hurricane guys up. they were telling there guys good job. i have so much respect for hurricane high school. i hope they win it all. they deserve it. hows that for class?
PC mom | 7:35 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Hurricane and PC had a great battle today. Happy for HHS and so sad to see the PC team play for the last time. PLEASE HHS strike a blow for the public schools and take down JD, there is so much wrong with what is being said about all these schools. I too agree it is time for a coaching changes in PC and am glad to be done with this for sure. We are not all rich and all our kids are not classless.

GO HURRICANE we will be cheering for you take it all!!!!
finish it off | 7:52 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
alright hurricane this is your chance to finish what the 05 and 08 teams started. as a part of the 08 team i would love nothing more than for you to avenge us against jd. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE!!!! Prepare well, execute, and DONT BLOW IT!!!!
ps is commenting on class classy?
Miner dad | 7:55 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Wow I thought the Tigers were tough last year. Having watched HHS and JD beat the Miners this season, I'll be really surprised if Hurricane loses next week. The Tigers are that much better than JD. HHS has a great team - fast, athletic, ball aware - and very well coached. Park City had chances to win, but just couldn't get it done. Congrats to the Tigers.

C-DAWG!!!! you're looking awesome bro. Keep it up.

What a leg | 7:58 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Wow, number 18 for Hurricane sure has a leg. Maybe he will be the difference in the JD game.
ian gates 56 | 8:01 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
He was the difference in this game. Without him i'm not sure if hhs would have been able to shift the momentum in that game and win it. Way to go ig you're awesome, keep it up. keep speaking softly and carrying that big stick.
