Thinkin' Man

It is the height of hypocrisy for the Obama administration to pay lip service to budget and deficits after spending $TRILLIONS and proposing $TRILLIONS more in health care bureaucracy.

Mismanagement by Obama

This so-called "smart" and "brainy" President is in way over his head, and is letting ideology get int he way of what needs to be done. He and Democrats are killing Small Businsses through tax increases and mandates on health care. Don't they know that 90% of all job growth is historically related to Small Businesses? The 11% unemployment won't get better unless they promote small businsess, and that means cutting taxes (oh, the horrors!), reducing regulation (not in their DNA), spurring investment by getting rid of the death tax, and generally getting out of the way to let business expand. But since they want power and control so bad it will never happen. At least Reaganomics had a record-breaking boom economy associated with it. What does Obama have so-far? Bailouts, handouts and record $1.2 trillion in additional debt. And 11% unempoyment with NO END in sight.

BROTHER CHUCK SCHROEDER

Now's the time for Congress and the White House to say to the insurance industry: You want to play hardball? Okay. We'll play it, too. We're going to make sure Americans have the freedom to choose a public insurance option that's cheaper and better, and you're going to have to work hard to keep them your customers.

"It is the height of hypocrisy for the Obama administration to pay lip service to budget and deficits after spending $TRILLIONS and proposing $TRILLIONS more in health care bureaucracy."

It was Bill Clinton who had a budget surplus which was turned into a budget deficit by George W. Bush and now its Obama's time to turn the budget deficit he was handed into a budget surplus and health care spending will not increase the deficit over the long term but will help to reduce it. Here is a simple economic principle for you to learn. Spending may actually save you money. Keep reading that sentence until you get it through your thick skull.

what in tucket?

The administration is going to something good finally? Cut Spending? Don't you feel sorry for Federal workers. THere are only 2 million of them and they average $119,000 a year twice the private sector.

the budget surplus

that Clinton gets credit for is interesting. Firstly, economic growth during his administration was a direct result of policies that took place during the previous administration. Economic change always takes time.
Secondly, I don't see how you can declare a budget balanced or even with a surplus when you haven't paid ONE DIME on your debts--which the Clinton budget didn't. It only allowed for the interest on the national debt.
Thirdly, the cost of ever-increasing social programs, coupled with the horrible cost of undeclared "wars" has drained our resources to the max. It was Clinton who got us into Afghanistan and Bosnia and the Bushes who got us into the Gulf War and Iraq. Now it will be Obama who gets us into some other place--maybe Iran.
We have lost the idea that it should be Congress who declares war and that the purpose of the Department of Defense is to DEFEND this country, not carry out police actions where we have no real national interest, no hope of winning, and can't even really tell who the bad guys are!

Federal Workers ??

Federal Workers average $119,000 a year? Are you serious? Where did you get this information?

lost in DC

First off, don't believe it when BO says he's thinking of freezing or reducing domestic spending; he said a year ago that his health care plan would reduce our premiums by $2500, now the CBO says it will cost each family $15,000.

Anon 1:01, can't defend BO, can you?

Anon, 1:22 total federal debt went up every year during slick willy's administration. there was no surplus. The congressional printing office web page has the data to prove it. And the repubs had control of congress and were actually abiding by their contract with America.

KM

Didn't Obama tell us last week that he saved or created jobs, all while people are continuing to loose jobs. Now, he tells us a wopper of a lie! That he is going to reduce the deficit. How is he going to pay for all the vote-getting new spending programs he has started? Wow, it is inconceivable how anyone can believe a word this guy says.

Real Obama

Will the real Obama please stand up? Spending cuts after loading up the deficits by trillions and pleading for trillions of more in what Obamacare will cost? This man has NO idea what the hell he is doing! Get rid of him before its too late!

2010 time for real change!

In November of 2010 the entire House of Representatives will stand for re-election; all 435 of them. One third of the Senate, a total of 33 of them, will also stand for re-election. Vote every incumbent out. And I mean every one of them. No matter their Party affiliation. Let's start all over in the House of Representatives with 435 people who have absolutely no experience in running that body, with no political favors owed to anyone but their own constituents. Let's make them understand that they work for us. They are answerable to us! Time to clean up America!
