Holiday music already on the air

I really enjoy Christmas and Christmas music, but when radio stations and stores start playing it before Thanksgiving it makes me think they are more interested in making money than giving thanks.
Other people just enjoy hearing Christmas music longer, which is fine; but for myself, when I feel burnt out by the time Christmas Day comes if I have been hearing it constantly for a month or more before. The perfect blend for me is to start hearing Christmas Music occasionally on the radio after Thanksgiving and all-holiday tunes the two weeks before Christmas Day. I appreciate the radio stations that keep this schedule.

Same is true with music you hear over, and over, ahd over. Not waiting until after Thanksgiving is indecent. If I hear Mariah Carey's "All I want For Christmas is You" while shopping one more time, I may lose it. So much of today's shopping-mall muzak or whatever it is, is either so banal or brain-dead as to kill any Christmas spirit one may have left. Guess the mall management doesn't want to pay royalties to the real artists who did the original songs, so they hire some third-rate music service who hires someone to do GarageBand versions which are cheaper. And the effect is to cheapen the holiday for all of us.

At last I can listen to Christmas music all day while at work. It puts me in a better mood. It helps me to think of other people because it brings on the spirit of giving and giving thanks for blessings. Thanks KOZY!

I love Christmas music and look forward to the time I can listen to it all day. That time for me is after Thanksgiving. I feel if I start too early I will get burned out. After Thanksgiving, it's a free for all. The same goes with Christmas movies. I too am soothed and inspired by Christmas music. While living in Las Vegas I often became angry at other driers and my blood pressure actually went up. It was a real problem except during Christmas when all I listened to was songs of the season. They seemed to help me be more understanding somehow.

Well, this means that until the end of January, there will be little if any listening to the radio for me. I'm not a "bah humbug" person, but this is ridiculous.

Radio stations do not have to follow the lead of merchants who start trotting out the Christmas stuff two weeks before Halloween. And, a few listeners who ask them to begin that early does not make up for the majority who think it is too early.
If you want early Christmas carols, then get a CD until after Thanksgiving. Then it's time for carols on the radio.

Personally, it appears that this is just the usual radio "stunt" designed to get a little publicity because there is little else done by radio to warrant being taken seriously as a relevant medium.
