This is incompetence, insanity or indifference to the very survival of our nation!
Only a fool, or someone intent on harming the United States would make this decision.
This is NOT a "criminal" case like jaywalking, or some Chicago mobster murder. This is a case of deliberate, premeditated acts of WAR against our country.
Acts of war must be handled using military tribunals, not the criminal coddling evidentiary standards and Miranda warning mandates intended to protect American citizens.
I hope that Senators Hatch and Bennett are all over this IMMEDIATELY! (Didn't they both vote for confirmation of AG Eric Holder despite his past history of radical actions?)
This is certainly "change" but it is not what most Americans "hoped" for.
It is OUTRAGEOUS to try these terrorists -- enemy combatants -- in civil court! By definition, they do NOT have the rights of US citizens. They belong in military court.
FDR, Harry Truman, and Dwight Eisenhower must all be spinning in their graves.
This news makes me sick to my stomach for so many reasons. I'm very offended by it. Mohammed and the four others are illegal combatants and war criminals and deserve a trial in a military court at Guantanamo at best.
It seems worthless to have him go to trial in NY !!! They might as well just execute him now - I can see no way that he could get a fair trial in NY!
Too much pain still there - and fear and feelings of revenge..
Lets see. Every time we've tried a terrorist in federal court and sentenced them it has worked. No one has been accquited. No one has escaped.
If it works every time why not keep doing it?
Obama is NUTS for doing this. There were so many alternatives. It's like he went out of his way to rub New Yorkers' noses in it.
I suppose his next stunt will be a low-level Air Force One fly-by to begin the trials.
...oh wait, he's already done that.
What a lame excuse for leadership.
OBAMA?? THIS IS AN ABOMINATION!! YOU ARE ALREADY LOSING IN THE POLLS IN OHIO, HOW LONG BEFORE NY JOINS THE REST OF THE COUNTRY WHO VIEW YOU AS A CANCER ON AMERCA....CALLING YOU JIMMY CARTER IS TOO GOOD FOR YOU....IMPEACH OBAMA
I just wanted to weigh in on this utter anti-American decision by the Obama administration and Eric "I hate America" Holder.
For what purpose are we trying these confessed terrorists in OUR CIVIL court system? Whats wrong with miiitary courts? Whats wrong with executing them post haste? Why are they still around? George Washington would have given them there wish to go see Allah and their 72 virgins along time ago.
Obama will just use them to bash America and confuse the citizens of this formerly great country.
We can be great again, but it will only be after we rid ourselves of the anti-American leftists that have taken over our political, educational, and media organizations. Vote the leftists out of office and bring in term limits.
Obama...you have awakened a sleeping giant. Having this kind of craziness in our government has made us all wake up.
I can see it now...
defense attorney to judge: "Your honor, my clients were siezed in the middle of the night by jack-booted thugs without a search warrant. They were dragged off to gitmo without being read their Miranda rights, and while in custody they were water-boarded which is a violation of their civil rights."
Some Leftist Judge: "I agree, case dismissed! The defendants are free to go."
Doesn't sound too far fetched the way things are going these days!
Welcome to the new Amerika!
How's that hope and change working out for ya?
If this is a criminal case and constitutional law applies, then just let them go. They were denied the right to a fast and speedy trial.
.
Let them go on the opening day of the deer hunt, wearing buck skin jackets. No shoes and nothing else to wear. Make sure it is in the wilderness in the middle of a prime hunting area.
Don't worry, it's a liberal court. He'll do fine.
Kahlid's body hair is a true crime, in of itself.
190 trials of terrorist suspects in American Federal Courts in the last 20 years resulting in 190 convictions.
100% success
Of the 190 convicted inmates serving time in federal penitentiary, zero have escaped.
ZERO
So help me understand why this is a bad way to go.
The $ millions to pay lawyers, investigators, securities for: the public, judge and his families, procecutor & family, juriors & families, etc. will require a bailout from the Government.
The 20th hijacker's trial took 4 years, tax payers will fund this nonsense for the next 30+ years. At least BO is creating jobs. Don't forget to count this toward jobs saved under the bailout
While trying to be politically correct, BO and his administration continue to be a big joke
lawyers just love to make work for themselves...and guess who pays the bills, ya all?
you know its funny I am guessing I am the only person that actually lives in New York on this thread. You ask the typical New Yorker our view and we will tell you bring it on they caused thousands of deaths in our city they should face justice hear, we do not run from a fight and we will not cower to these terrorist or you outsiders.
