My brother just had to lay me off after 28 years of steady employment. We had growth every year for the past 18 years, and this year we are down 52% and the future looks even worse. These are terrible times!
LEAN; reducing the staff and trying to increase the output.
I worked for a major company that implemented the LEAN (and mean) business model. We ended up working 70-80 hours per week and still couldn't keep up with the demand.
Some business models just don't lend themselves well to the LEAN model.
Watch out; if your company goes LEAN, you may be looking for a job anyway, even if you are one of the lucky ones kept on.
