Not this year buddy. TCU will own the Utes.

Maybe so, but the Yewts do not stand a chance. The frogs are for real. BCS Bowl bound for sure. Go Cougars!

Ute's are going to smoke the Frog's this weekend and will be the busters again, this time busting TCU's BCS hopes.

This one scares me...but coach witt always seems to come out with a win. Hopefully they will do it again. Good luck Utes!
Historically ND owns Navy | 1:06 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
but, the Fighting Irish have lost 2 of the last 3 to the Midshipmen

Utah's historical record versus TCU is as meaningless as Utah's historical record versus BYU was in 1972.

At that point, Utah was something like 40-3-3 against BYU; that is, until LaVell and the Cougs rattled off wins in 18 of the next 20 games.

If Utah thinks their past record against the Frogs is going to give the Utes the edge this Saturday, the Utes are sadly mistaken.
hahahaha | 1:44 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
'coach witt always seems to come out with a win' ?? Kind of like 27-0 vs UNLV ? or 36-3 vs Boise St ? hahahaha It's time for another beat down.

Why do so many of you lame Cougar Fans chime in on the articles about the UTES. You didn't beat TCU and you looked like a high school team when you played them. Play the game then you can run your mouth, or keyboard as the case may be.
? Ute Fan? | 6:33 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Ute Fan,
How will the Utes be bowl busters after they lose to the Cougars in a few weeks? Go Frogs... and GO COUGARS!
Re: Historically ND owns Navy | 6:38 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Thank you, BYU fan, for pointing that out. Gee, I thought that the Utes would just show up and, on the basis of a 5-1 record over TCU, just assume that they'd win. Gosh, I thought that, like you pointed out, Coach Whitt would just sit back and let his players show up for a game against #4 ranked TCU, a team coming off a 38-7 blowout over BYU, he'd just look at his overall record and say, "Golly, I have beaten their team more than they've beaten me. That must mean I will beat them this time."

Hopefully you can detect a little sarcasm in this reply.

Lifelong BYU guy but I hope Utes can find the emotion for this game that they always seem to bring against the Cougs. From where I sit, TCU doesn't respect BYU or Utah.
RE: Calling All Cougars | 7:16 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
As usual, your obsession with BYU comes shining through. This is the biggest game on your schedule and your entire post is to "put" BYU in it's place. Freakin' hilarious!
Ummm... | 7:24 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Since you're calling me (a Cougar fan), let's review the facts: 1. BYU has exactly how many MWC losses? Oh, right, just one. 2. After playing TCU and BYU on the road, Utah will have exactly how many MWC losses? I believe 1 + 1 = 2 conference losses, which consequently equals 3, as in THIRD-PLACE in-conference for your "big boy" Utes. No crying here. Second place behind BCS-bound TCU is no reason to get teary.
wallofvoodoo | 7:44 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
TCU is scary good, but I hope the Utes can pull off a wain. GO UTES!
@ Chet | 7:49 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
TCU doesn't have to respect BYU because they OWN BYU (see last 2 games)...and I pull for BYU. TCU will have a strong team again next year which means another loss for BYU in Ft Worth in 2010.

Looks like 2011 is when the next opportunity for BYU to challenge for the MWC title...not 2010, and we already know that TCU has the title in 2009, unless a major meltdown tomorrow.
RE:Calling All Cougars  | 7:50 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Uh, 3rd place? Try tied for 2nd place with the Ewe behind TCU after tomorrow.

The toaster just popped up...the Yewts are toast.

Course, it would be better for both BYU and Boise State if the Yoo should happen to luck out and beat the Frogs but with such an embarrassing line from Vegas showing no confidence in the Yew, that isn't likely.

We'll all be listening for that thud from Texas when your world comes crashing down tomorrow Yewt fans. We'll move over and make room for your landing a little softer.

TCU doesn't respect the Utes or Cougars? Now that's funny. Guess that's why they are always left with the scraps...Please...
Utah by 5  | 7:55 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
It would be nice to see Utah pull it off but even if they don't TCU is a great team and I think they will represent the conference well in a BCS bowl.

How long has it been since BYU has won a bowl game??
Anonymous | 8:04 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I love the addition that Cougar fans make before the games are even played. 2 losses in the MWC? Maybe but right now, the Cougars are losing.

BYU fans have NO BUSINESS running their mouth. Ever. Now go away and go comment on your own stories. You simply haven't earned enough credibility to trash talk. Period.
hmmm | 8:08 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
So maybe all you coog fans that are commenting on this article about Utah can tell me what byu's record against TCU is? Do you count all the games you have played against TCU? or do you re-write history a bit like you do against the Utes?

I always find it amusing when why fans spout off about the history of the rivalry. The history is great - especially when you erase it to make your program look better.

As for this game against TCU, I'm realistic in my expectations. That being said, the Utes still have a chance in this game. Utah's defense is the toughest that TCU has had to face all year. Yeah the Utes will have to play better than they have on offense but I believe they are capable.

Even if the Utes lose, I have no problem with TCU going to a BCS bowl game - it's great to have the two top teams from the MWC be able to go to the BCS. As far as predicting the outcome of the rivalry game- don't forget the Utes have fast athletes not a good combination for the coogs.
akk | 8:09 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Go Utes... Play hard and smart and give yourself a chance to win in the 4th quarter. BYU fans you had your chance and got rocked at home... get over it!!!
Speed | 8:41 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
TCU will play for the national championship after they put a beat down on the utes and leave them and the cougs fighting for MWC scraps. The utes did the MWC proud last year and its TCU's turn this year. Still waiting for the Cougs to do something impressive like beating the 9th place PAC 10 team in Vegas.
utes | 8:46 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
wow, coug fans are in full force today. They are hoping and praying for a Utah loss which will somehow justify the beatdown they received from TCU. Hate to break it to you, but the Utes will not be embarrassed and will come away with a win. Either way, the coug's season is over.
Discovega | 8:52 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
It will be close, nail biter,,,but the Utes will prevail based on good-ol fashion blood and guts. This game will be the talk of the BCS and college football for weeks to come. -- The dynasty will not be stopped!

Go Utes...make us proud!

Is that BYU lost to TCU. All the trash talk won't change that simple fact. YOU LOST. Move on. Oh but since we're trash talking...I heard the same stuff out of your mouths about Alabama! When it comes to games the UTES should lose??? Do you remember since your so fond of the past when we showed up to YOUR house with our back-up QB and beat you in OT!!! It's over Cougars...quit embarrassing yourselves with all your talk. Why don't you see if you can go to the WAC next year. Then you will only have 1 team that will beat you instead of the 2 in the MWC that beat you down. Since you love predicting games cougars here's one for ya...Utah over TCU and UTAH over BYU in humiliating fashion. enjoy the Humanitarian Bowl.

"TCU coach Gary Patterson, who has a winning record against every team in the Mountain West Conference except for Utah".
Pathetic | 11:25 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
You Zoobie fanboys are pathetic. Last year all I heard was that Utah was going to get theirs from TCU after the TDS's humiliation in Texas. Utah maybe got outplayed during a lot of the game, but in the end worked out a win. This year is no different. Worry about your own team's troubles and let us handle the Utes. Utah is not a guaranteed win nor is TCU, but it is unlikely the Utes will suffer a blow-out beat down along the lines of TCU and TDS a few weeks ago. Get over it.
to "Pathetic" | 12:05 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Ummmmm... this year is different. Your team hasn't played yet. Pathetic?
running mouths | 12:41 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
"BYU fans have NO BUSINESS running their mouth."

Show me ONE team that Utah has beaten that BYU hasn't, otherwise, BYU fans have just as much business running their mouths as fans of the sorry Utes who have planned MUCH worse against common opponents.

If the Utes go into Fort Worth and pull off an upset, Utah fans have my permission to run their mouths all they want to,

otherwise

SHUT UP!

Utah hasn't done anything special this season that warrants all of this chest beating that Utah fans are doing.

Beat TCU.

Beat BYU.

Then, and only then, will you have something to crow about.
Craig | 12:52 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
The football game will be played tomorrow--not last year or the year before. History teaches us nothing in this case.
Ute fan in Fort Worth | 12:57 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I'm proud of the Utes win or lose. I'll be at the game tomorrow...sitting in the U of U section. I'm proud to tell my co workers here in Texas that My team has busted into the BCS twice, pulling off two victories and finishing 2nd last year in the country. I didn't think the Utes had a shot last year against Alabama and I was thrilled to see what they did. Why not tomorrow too? BYU has never busted a BCS bowl. Yes, they won the national championship in 84 by beating a #4 Michigan team in the holiday bowl...not #4 in the country...#4 in the Big 10. I thought it funny to read this paper online and see how big a deal was made over the championship anniversary...that is really living in the past. I guess you need that when you have done nothing since
Anonymous | 2:03 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I see some yoot fans posting comments who may be in for a terrible shock tomorrow. They seem to think they have the same team this year as they had last year and therefore just as good a chance to win as last year.

In last year's game against TCU I gave yootah a small edge because I recognized that TCU's offense didn't play as well on the road as they did at home. Turned out I was right.

TCU's advantages in the contest this year include:

o Playing at home

o QB and rest of offense are more experienced and they have plenty of talent

o Better D than yootah's

o Very motivated due to revenge factor and chance to get into a BCS bowl game

So it's great that you think your team has a chance but don't be too surprised if the bookies turn out to be right tomorrow.
Sammy | 3:46 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
The reason they play the game is because nobody really knows what will happen.

But as for me I hope Utah knocks TCU out.

Our conference is finally starting to play ball. I love it.

If BYU could win a bowl game that would be great.
BYU Fan | 4:26 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I hope Utah beats TCU for a few reasons. First, I hate TCU and actually kind of like Utah (I know some of you can't see how it is possible to be a BYU fan and kind of like Utah or vice versa). Also, it would be the only way for it to be even remotely possible to partially salvage one of Bronco's stated goals each year, which is the MWC Championship. However, if Utah really is good enough to beat TCU, then we better better be ready to play our very best if we want any chance at all of beating Utah (heck, or even being close).

I find it pretty pathetic that the only thing the Zoobs have to cheer for is a Utes loss. It's sad that your season has come down to that. Your envy of your big brothers is shining brightly.

Once again you will be disappointed as the Utes will shock the BCS!! GO UTES!!!
Defending Conference Champs!!! | 5:55 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Listen zoobies, don't cry to hard when Utah smashes your dreams tomorrow like we did in the Sugarbowl last year!!! Go Utes!!!

I think utah is going to get beat tomorrow. I have watched tcu several times this year. They are a far better team than Utah. I would really enjoy watching Tcu beat utah. Iam sorry to all you utah fans no offense. It is after all just a football game.
Ute fan in Fort Worth | 7:17 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
This is silly! Part of being a fan is running your mouth about your team. Being proud of their accomplishments etc. Utah is rebuilding. They are not the same team they were last year or 5 years ago. Yet, they have not lost two games at home this year and they only have one loss to this point. Kyle is an awesome coach...only black mark is where he played his college ball. Even if the Utes lose tomorrow and lose to BYU in two weeks...I would not want to be their MWC opponents for the next two or three years as they get experience under their belt.
Re: Sammy | 8:12 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
"If BYU could win a bowl game that would be great."

Uh, BYU has gone 2-2 in bowl games during the Bronco Mendenhall era. That includes a 38-8 whupping of Oregon in the 2006 Las Vegas Bowl.

Don't you Ute fans pay attention to anything other than your own team?

No wonder you think the Utes will beat TCU tomorrow: You are so wrapped up in your own little world that you don't have the slightest clue as to how good the Frogs really are.
