BYU football: Tough year for Lobos and coach
9 comments | Read story
will be the first win for the new coach.
Good lucks!!!
BRONCO was the ASST. HC during the CROWTON years.
He bears some responsibility for what happened.
As far as the NM HC is concerned, his hire has been a NIGHTMARE for all concerned.
I thought Crowton was a good guy, but he just wasn't right for BYU at that time. The problems really were his. The recruiting philosophy was his. The general culture of the Team (split between Offense/Defense) was also ALL Crowton.
The Defense was actually the lone BRIGHT spot during the Crowton years. I thought Bronco's 3-3-5 was great when BYU had the Athletes to execute it. The change was made to suit the strong Linebackers that were in the System at the time.
BRONCO was the ASST. HC only during CROWTON'S final year.
He bears about as much responsibility for what happened during the CROWTON years as any employee does who's boss is screwing things up for their department or company.

"Rocky continued to win year after year after year, even after I left, and it still wasn't full. I can't really address why that is, but I think possibly now the appreciation for the job he did might be at a higher level than when he was there."
That's the understatement of the year! The last line was pretty funny. "but I think possibly now the appreciation for the job he did might be at a higher level than when he was there."
Ha-larious! Let's see, going from 7 to 8 win seasons and competing for 4th in a tough conference with tough looking defense and solid offense, to going 0-9?
. . . . .?
Yeah. . .I think you're right Bronco! I think fans may have an appreciation "at a little higher level" for Rocky Long now than they did!
I'll admit as a BYU fan Bronco's comments can be funny sometimes!
He probably also thinks: because of last year, Ute fans have been mouthing off at a way higher level. But due to the upcoming TCU game, that will hopefully change.
