Devils

Congrats devils! Good luck in the championship.

Devils rule! Predicting a big upset and a state title for Springville next week

I Wonder Why

Why is it that Dixie or any other team for south of Utah County has to come all the way to Salt Lake City to play in the final or semi final rounds of the playoffs.

Why cannot they play at Thunderbird Stadium in Cedar City?

Makes one wonder, the same as the recruiting that goes on in some schools.

Dixie - nothing to be ashamed of. You represented Southern Utah well.

Go Springville

12/31...Ouch. Maybe the suspension might have been a good thing. Way to go Springville! Nice win.

Play calling

Not saying that Dixie would have won but the play calling for Dixie was abysmal,Dixie is a running team and Sharp is not a good passing QB,so what was with all the pass plays called in the first half? You outsmarted yourself Dixie.

RE: I Wonder Why

Because the entire state is up here. And there are only a handful of schools down south. Sorry, but majority always rules.

RE Wonder Why

Learn to put a sentence together....WOW!

Makes one wonder, is public education system that good?

State of the Utahn

Impressive, Red Devils.

What's the commentary on Class 4A football if Springville, of all teams, is the 2nd-best (or better) team in the state? It makes me sad to be a Utah County High School graduate.

Dixie

Be a gracious loser. You talk smack the whole week before the game. Then after you complain that the game was not played down south. Come on, you played on one of the best fields in Utah.

southern utah usual blah

really? I guess it's difficult to be considered the "little brother" to the Wasatch Front.

Re: I Wonder Why

Dixie and all the other 4A schools down south get to play against a bunch of 3A teams in region play?

I also wonder why Dixie was a #1 seed in the 4A playoffs when they lost the region outright to Hurricane (a 3A school)?

I also wonder why a player that is ejected gets reinstated when supposedly coaches and players are not allowed protest such calls?

AND lastly, I wonder why people down south whine so much?

I guess everyone has a lot of unanswered questions...

Dixie

Good job Flyers, you've represented Southern Utah well, you are a class act. Southern Utah has either made it to the championship or the semi-finals since we've made the transition up to 4A. It just goes to prove that we can compete with the big schools, although we don't have their budget!!!! Go Flyers!

traveling

I am not from the south but I think if the people up north had to travel down south every year for the semi's and the finals they would complain a little also. Sometimes compromise might be a good option. Besides, I don't think it is just the south that complains. I hear plently of complaining coming from up north also. There are always a few people who are never happy about anything.

Location, location, location

Any coach can tell you that there is something to be said about having your players sleep in their own beds the night before a game. Don't forget the fan support that attends the game either. Congratulations to Springville on a great win. Dixie, nice job of representing Region 9.

Timpview player

Timpview is going to kill the devils next week for their fourth strait state championship!!!

Snow Canyon Fan

Great job Dixie!! You represented Region 9 in great fashion. We are all proud of you down here in Dixie. Onward and upward Region 9!!

#1 Seed, Ejection and Whining

If Dixie had enough 4A teams down south or if the UHSAA had enough sense to put them into an all 4A region, I guarantee they would much rather have that situation to be better prepared for their competition once they made the playoffs. Also, considering Dixie and Pine View are both 3A sized schools and Snow Canyon, the only 4A sized school in the region, did not even make the playoffs, that says plenty about the toughness and tradition of these two schools and their achievements.

Mike Sharp's ejection was not--repeat: WAS NOT--protested by the players or coaches, so you thought right. You just didn't think to check the facts of how he was reinstated first, which was completely legal and the correct decision.

Considering how much schools from up north complain every year because they can't beat Dixie in golf or baseball because "we get to play year round," I would say there's an ample amount of whining going on throughout the state. Let's just wish Springville the best of luck in the final and say congratulations Dixie, you have a lot to be proud of!
