What's wrong with these people? Don't they know they have to make a political contribution to Mark, before they can start "legally" defraudng people?

i used to live in the basin. these people spent more time breaking the law than ever trying to obey it.

These people probably thought they would get financing to begin the construction of the water systems project. Then the economy crashed. Now they are screwed with owing all these back taxes, probably spent alot of money on attorneys and such pushing for deeds and permission to proceed.

In anycase they will lose it all and some fat republican dirt bag with enough money will step in buy up everything and proceed with the project un hindered.

Utah is indeed the white collar crime state. Wonder why ?
Basin Resident | 4:46 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I am offended by your use of the phrase "these people." I moved to the Basin 5 years ago and have found it a wonderful place to raise my family. People are friendly and honest and every town has a wonderful "small town" feeling to it. Yes, there are dishonest people here, but that is true of every community. Maybe it was just the crowd you were hanging out with.

They should pay back the $250,000 dollar settlement from Duchesne

They should pay back the $ 250,000 dollar settlement from Duchesne County. Why should the tax payers of this low income county have to pay the
Steeds anything.

I used to own one of their cabins. They're always making promises they can't keep. They can't build the cabins they promise because they mistreat their limited supply of workers. It was always funny to tell people in town where you had your cabin. They would just roll their eyes. Everyone in Duchesne knows the Steeds and most try to keep their distance. Bad News

Joe and Joan are the nicest people. They probably just have bad managers running their buisness

those are some off the reasons why i moved from there

any other places out there in the world, there is good and bad everywhere and anywhere. Please don't prejudged the Uintah Basin for making the news every once in a while. It seems like the majority of the news comes from the Wasatch Front.

I don't know these Developers in person and I've lived in the Uintah Basin now for 10 years, and I love the people around me and the area is awesome. Let the law do its job, like anywhere in the world.

RE: Steve 4:42 PM

I wonder too. Didn't used to be that way. Maybe a lot of unscrupulous people moved here. But I bet you will say it is for another reason.

Say what you want about the Uintah Basin but most will agree that Highway 40 is the scariest road in Utah. I avoid it completely!

Why did it take so long to figure out this fraud. They have advertised on tv for years.

Donn | 1:19 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
So where do you go to find out if your parcel is legit or not I wonder?
Utah fraud? | 3:09 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Actually, Utah sits in about the middle of the states when it comes to incidents of fraud per capita. It's overwhelmingly average. The worst areas are currently the deep south, followed by New York and California.

Don't get so excited you ladies and gentlemen. This sounds like "business-as-usual" in Anywhere, USA. Do you seriously think that Utah and/or the Steeds hold a monopoly on business venture screw-ups? Also, remember, "Fraud" is easily alleged, however it is very difficult to meet the burden of proof.

Donn: You can call Duchesne County Planning at 435-738-1151 to determine if your parcel is legit.
